Update: a newer version of this vacuum is posted here: • Horse Manure Vacuum 2.0
I adapted a Stihl BR600 backpack leafblower to make a vacuum that will pick up horse manure in the pasture. It's hard to pickup manure in the grass because the manure fork gets stuck in the grass and weeds. Even in long grass this vacuum will pick up the manure pretty quickly. The first part of video describes the setup, the last minute shows how it works.

I like your invention! I also have the same Rubbermaid wheelbarrow, it is well balanced and easy to pull and maneuver with one hand. I am looking to vacuum up mulch (delivered by the tree trimmer company) and then spread the mulch around my trees and bushes. This might work as long as the mulch is shredded fine enough and does not have long twigs in it.

You'll have to play around with engine speed and maybe using some kind of filter, like hardware cloth. If I run the engine too fast it turns the manure into powder and blows it all back out. You might have to put hardware cloth over the impeller to keep it from blowing the finer mulch out the exhaust.

I will keep filtration in mind. Thanks! :)

What cfm was your blower pushing?

I think this first version with the stihl was rated at 650cfm, but I could only run it at or just above idle or it pulverized the manure and pushed it out the exhaust like dust. The replacement engine uses an echo blower rated at 517cfm, and I run that at about 20-30% throttle. The wetter the manure, the higher the cfm you can use without turning everything into dust. The best time to vacuum is about a day or two after rain so the manure is still damp but not heavy wet. How much cfm you need is also dependent on how well sealed your enclosure is. If you have a lot of air leaks, you'll have to run the thing faster.

HI! did you make an other version?

Yes I did, the engine on this blower siezed. The engine requires 89 octane or higher fuel but I never saw that requirement, so that's probably why it overheated and siezed. This style engine has a bit of a reputation for that problem. Anyway I got a plain old 2 cycle echo leaf blower and mounted it different, and used different material for intake hose which is a big improvement. I'll try to get video and post an update.
