17:39 There’s just something about a horse in motion by the sea! That in combination with the dramatic music!!😍 The photograps were lovely too, but the stills did not win over the motion pics here for me.
@@soilgrasswaterair I agree here, the textures were really nice in the video, and I think he caught some elements not capture-able in photos. Regardless, we do see two very different viewpoints from two different types of artists.
deer doe you’re so right about that! I have to admit that personally I find it difficult to select a favorite when two people (here, the still photographers)are very skilled because both are at such a high technical level that me as an amateur can’t choose ”the best”, it gets more to a place of what one self will find the most attractive in terms of lighting, color and position/lines of the horse I guess...which is 100% subjective! All elements in this video were stunning, and Jesse’s non-stop blabbing in the beginning gave it a comedic and sweet angle too🙂
I love how Jesse just continues to have his own conversations throughout the video 😂 he’s me! I talk so much though videos and others getting annoyed but I think Jesse is just hilarious even though he doesn’t mean to be lol
I think your brother's fashion photographer eye was apparent in his video. The focus on small details--your booted, spurred foot, the way the water became almost jewel-like under Emporio's hooves, the attention on the logo on the cantle of the saddle, the way the sunlight glowed like gold behind you... Even when Steve showed Emporio cantering down the beach, it was about the power or the shadows or the movement...Steve shows small details and designs an image that focuses on a moment in time--even in a video. Meanwhile, Dominique uses her photos to give the viewer a complete and finished story. It's the story of the relationship between you and Emporio; she shows the spirit of your horse and the connection he shares with you as you move together--beautifully and powerfully--through the world. (And you'd never know it was his first time at the beach. He trusts you so much!) I'm not sure I'm expressing myself clearly; at any rate, both of them are very talented and there was (for me, anyway) a big difference between their ways of seeing. Thank you for sharing!
Yes! I would had bought the watch, the saddle, the boots, the class and style, and the adventure this video showed. Professional work from a professional fashion photographer.
Matt: "My horse is not a big fan of water" gets him to go into the water and not freak out when pushed by the waves Me: gets bucked off if tries to get the horse within 10 meters from the water
Steve’s video is beautiful shows us Emporio’s strength in the masse but also pointed on small details like the crown, stirrups and zoomed to catch the water dripping, back to catching the waves ... Loved it 💖
Omg! Dominique’s pictures are, as always, magnificent! I absolutely loved Steve’s video! Just captured all the beauty of your lovely horse in such a lovely environment! Thank you so much for sharing this. My husband kids me about following my new grandchildren. (He hasn’t seen your beautiful videos.😉 ) and always, Jesse’s conversations from behind the camera make this so enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.
Oooooh, okay, I’m a Portrait/Wedding photographer with an equestrian background and I can already tell you I prefer the lighting, style and STORY of your brother’s video. Well done! I’m sorry we weren’t able to see his photos but I can imagine what they would have been -nothing short of stunning!
OK, Steve's film takes the cake. This guy is amazing! The film packed a hell of a punch, it was exciting, action filled, leaving the spectator wanting more, there was a feeling that something more was coming. Moreover, the details , lighting were phenomenal. Dominique's pictures were nice also.
Steve is very talented. Love his composition, and lightning! He is a great photographer. I feel like his style of photographing would suit modelling horse equipment etc, Dominique’s style is more suited for showing of the horses qualities. They’re both very good at their work. Loved this video!
Your brothers’ take on photography is very similar to mine. I LOVE finding the wee (Scottish for small) details in the subject. Highlighting certain areas of the subject that are lost in a bigger picture brings the viewer closer to the subject and surprises them by seeing what they may have missed. You are so fortunate to live near a west-facing, sandy beach - if I were lucky enough to own a horse I don’t think I’d ever be off the beach lol. Thanks for sharing and bringing some joy into our lives at this difficult time. Take care and stay safe xx
Merja ... every time Matt’s Brother appears in these videos he always appears unsure, inadequate, awkward... Matt gets too judgmental.... these aspects I see in the brother Steve makes him a good photographer. I don’t think Matt sees it this way..I would trust a photographer that was always a little unsure ... everytime.
The pictures and the video (would love to work with each of them) are beautiful with enchanting subjects and background! Please don't be harsh with your brother he also has a gift. Jesse brings his own fun behind the camera, and omg, we all love you so very much. ♡
I LOVE this video! As a tack maker, I have photo shoots, and I loved seeing each style. I would KILL to have a video and shoot done like your brothers. Since I am a tack maker, I love how he zoomed into shots and focused on crisp, up close shots. Both are amazing photographers!
What a brave horse he is going into those waves. He trusts in you so much. How I would love to be walking on the beach and stumble across you riding the beautiful Emporio. Lovely video and it seems to have stopped raining in the Netherlands.
Oh shoot!! (pun intended!) I was really looking forward to seeing the contrast of the two! I’m a dressage rider pro photographer that has also had the good fortune to have worked with Steve Klein from Vogue with model Gisele Bündchen and a Friesian horse I had. Let me say that-OMG-the fashion photography “eye”.. is MEGA different from the competition type dressage photographers “eye”!!! But as a dressage rider, I do like to shoot dressage horses with some out-of-the-box flair! I hope you get a chance to do this again!! Dominique is awesome-and yes, your brothers video was super! Thanks for all the time and effort it takes to do a beach shoot! Been there! It ain’t easy!!
All is beautiful! Every artist has their technique and reflection of how they see the world! Beautiful horse and handsome rider. How can anyone get a bad shot with the sunset too! Just WOW!
Both were amazing but one that stands out for me is your brothers video and the fact he zoomed in on certain aspects, the tiniest details were made more powerful by your brother. loved it. x
The photos were amazing, and that video was stunning!! Steve recovered insanely well with that, and Jesse definitely captured the moment with his videography too! Beautiful video :)
I think your brother did a great job, you put him on the spot, he was super nice to do it, the girl is used to taking pics of your horses very often❤️ Emporeo is such a great horse nobody could mess that up, he’s gorgeous👍👍🇺🇸
What a fun day! Emporio did so well in the new surroundings -- very impressive! And I always love seeing Matt in the saddle. His natural grace and suppleness are a delight to watch.
Your brother captured the beauty and majesty of your horse and his spirit. Just beautiful! The lady caught a whole different type of beauty in your horse . Both sets of pictures are wonderful.
I loved the clips your brother took, especially the still shots/clips with less motion. But I feel like the lighting was a bit too dark in some areas, I would have liked to see more light to see details in the clips. As a professional videographer, I could definitely tell he was having a hard time keeping the focus on the subject and keeping the horse centered in the frame when in a canter, beautiful clips overall though! The equine photographer’s pics were beautiful too, I think a little more artistic Liberty could have been taken as her shots felt more like advertisement images. Both artists had beautiful results though! I hope you try to do this type of video again or make a series like in different areas (like an arena or stable or even try to flip the challenge and have them do fashion photography) super fun video, I really enjoyed it a lot! 💗
Liked you comments. However, I often like less clarity, less definitive purpose and time with photography. Steve’s photography is very good commercial style for a brand. I’m not sure why Matt has an objection to his brother’s video. Matt likes everything to be calculated and measured. He has this concept of “perfect” which not exist.
I'm so glad you let Emporio run a little bit. We only get to see him in the arena or the barn. Was nice to see him stretching out a bit. You always ask us what we might like to see...would be cool to see him without so much garb on his face. How about an Aussie themed shoot with an Aussie saddle, plain snaffle, no nosebands, and what ever type reins are traditional....and you in one of those Snowy River jackets: I know they make helmets that have the look that would work. Maybe Chase would be the one for that shoot? I know there are plenty of Iberian horses in AU, but Chase just seems to have the look for something like that. Beautiful work from all of you! Thanks for sharing:)
Emporio is sublime! I like that his carriage is rising, he was over-bridled and over-bent but now has trust in your hands and is relaxing about it. I also perceive that he has the potential to be five-gaited, which is fine and can be exploited so long as he always knows the difference, nothing is as good as a gaited horse to ride. He is now carrying himself beautifully, needs more outdoor adventures. For a green horse he was good with the water, you got those prissy little bell boots soaked! Photos and video both superb. Thanks Matt, I really enjoyed it. Greetings from Australia.
Dominique pics are great and amazing as a whole piece, they're clean and you can tell that the horse is the main things for us as viewers. Ont the other hand, Steves movie seems more to build up a story with th details, you not only see the horse and rider as a focus but you get close up of tack and other small things. Both very beautiful and great photographers, depending on what you really want to show of in that particulat photoshoot-set.
Jesse provided the most real, engaging, "wish I could be there" video. The overwhelming power and beauty of the horse is over the top. Loved the stills and your brothers work...wish his photos had not been lost. Maybe next time.
Beautiful stills and video! I loved the details Steve concentrated on, the lighting, the close ups of Matt and Emporio in full gallop. He looked so strong! And deep in the water. Ditto for the still photos. The pastels, the shot with the dunes in the background was my favorite. Bravo to both photographers! And to both subjects! And Jesse! 🤗❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my! Two different and totally valid talents capturing a lovely horse, his gentle and respectful rider and an amazing setting. Fashion photographer, equine photographer and you tube artistic videographer. Well done everyone! From lockdown in Australia
15:04 I don’t believe it’s the lens that changes the focus when it comes to photography. The lens she has is probably to help get a clear photo from a good distance away. From my understanding she used a smaller f-stop aka aperture, which isolates the subject and makes the background more blurry. If I’m wrong please correct me! Both photographers are amazing though! I do prefer Steve’s style and the lighting in his “photos”which I think capture a little more emotion but Dominique’s photos also contain beautiful lighting and landscape as well. The more saturated orange glow from the sunset in Steve’s video is a little more dramatic and helps the subject relax into the setting a little more. Well done to both photographers though, the end products from both are absolutely stunning😍🔥🌅
you need a specific(and expensive..) kind of lens to be able to have a low aperture when shooting subjects far away. So you're both right! It's the lens that makes her able to have that f-stop. My telescope lenses could never xD
I had to come back and watch this again. The still shots were amazing but that video your brother did still gives me chills!! He needs to add horse photography and videography to his skill sheet. Just breathtaking!!😊
Hi am a huge fan. Hope that you Jesse and your horses r doing great during this lockdown period. I've been watching you for months. Anyways bye love you guys
The video your brother shot is really beautiful, I used to ride at old stables in my youth. I'm so grateful yourself and Jessie are so gentle and kind to all your animals.
The photos are perfect and the video is perfect. The photos captured the relationship between the two of you, and Dominique. The video presented Emporio's anticipation, with a bit of mystery thrown in, and the close up's gave the audience a great new view of details. The entire program was interesting, enjoyable, unique and, as always, pleasurable. The music added to the emotions and artistry. Thanks to all of you for sharing, beauty, friendship, love, trust, joy, nature and art. Love to all of you!!!!!
Isn't he stunning? Yes, Emporio, lol.. But, we can't forget the ever handsome Matt now can we!!!! Emporio is just the most beautiful horse I've ever seen! He has my heart! Much love from Oklahoma USA
Emporio is an amazing horse ! You are so lucky to have him! His movements are stunning, and his attitude and trust are unbelievable. He doesn't even act like a stud. You two are amazing together! ❤
That horse tries his heart out for you and trusts you every single time you ride him. I was nervous you may have brought him in the water just a touch too deep for his own comfort level, but that is your judgement. Also, you don't want him to get bit by a jellyfish or something. Just don't want Emporio to lose his trust in you. You have a very special bond with him. I cannot believe how good he was! Boy, did you ever chose the right horse to purchase and your training job with him has been consistent and stellar. The pictures were absolutely amazing! The video also was beautiful and showed your brothers gift for photography and style. Both excellent. I do love the canter picture! I would for sure frame that and put on my wall! I think Emporio enjoyed that. I felt Emporio was moving so beautifully, like he thought he was in a show. His movement was high level the entire time. What a great idea and a fun time for all. Two very talented photographers. You are so fortunate to have access to them. Stay safe from corona!!
I enjoyed this alot. When a horse is out in the wind and beach I am so happy. The still photos were beautiful and your brother Steve did an INCREDIBLE job with his video. Wonderful Steve! The way you captured Emporio's surging front diagonal at the end was FANTASTIC. I loved the cuts you did on certains spots of the horse and human!
It looked like you all had so much fun! The pictures, of course, were beautiful with 2 such stunning subjects! But that video was fabulous! I have watched it multiple, multiple times! Would have loved to see his photographs! Thanks so much for sharing!
I do sports photography and I really want to get into equine photography, when lockdown is done and I can go back up to my friend's stables, I'm 100% going to have a play, your photographer is so inspiring
The different methods of photography were very interesting. Everything they did was absolutely beautiful and showcased everyone involved. Beautiful work by photographers, rider, horse and nature.
🙋🏻♀️ Wow! Emporio is like the model horse that we remember on the merry-go-round 🎠 perfect shape, neck, movement beautiful legs, and the very noise of his mighty powerful hoofs, would love to have seen his mane flowing loose soft, the longer the better, with the perfect people to show him at his best!! Matt, Jesse you have a great life and thank you for letting me in, always mesmerised appreciate the wonder of Equestrians 🎠 pictures! loved them all 🙃
Hej Matt, Thanks to you guys, I have regained my passion for horses after a long break. Have had my own miniature horse for the last 3 years because I got riding anxiety after an ugly fall (and rode for over 20 years!) And trained a lot of tricks/liberty with him (with inspiration from Jesse!). For 2 months now I have climbed back on a horses' back and started polo (my new love!). Thanks to you, I have a completely different view of how you train and interact with horses, and that ground training is also very important to create a stronger bond. Thanks for being you! and that you make so many nice videos together! Hope that when I am back in the Netherlands again that I can come to one of your events / shows. Best regards :)
Also Jesse's camera work at min 12 and min 13 were great! Steve's video was so lovely, as I expect he selected the music and did nice editing. This was an AWESOME upload to the channel, Matt!!
@@sofiesrensen4868if the hair flies perfectly you can get fantastic pictures, here are some great examples: 1. www.pinterest.de/pin/171770173276316661/ 2. www.pinterest.de/pin/91197961183696042/
The photograpy is beautiful! The short video by your brother however....Breathtaking! I didn't want it to end. Felt like he was telling a story and was leading me to something even more exciting! Wow. Great job
Absolutely agree! The mane up in grooming braids mars the image of this beautiful horse in a beautiful setting. A flowing mane just fits with the water and the wildness of the beach.
I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED STEVE'S VIDEO! Beautiful artistry, great eye, and amazing colors. Even though it wasn't a photo, I think he would have won the competition. Excellent work, Steve!
Matt you are So lucky ... Emporio is priceless. Just loves you!!! Keep Him for his entire life or it would break his heart . It takes an outsider to remind You of this at times . Beautiful video ..your brother is incredible
Really fun watching you ride your stallion at the beach, he is such a sweet heart. I loved the pictures by Dominique and the video from your brother. I wonder if the object was to display the difference between fashion model and sports/horse photography... or to put your brother in a situation where his lack of experience in that field could be made fun of? I dunno, probably just me but it was a bit cringy watching the "banter" surrounding your brother's work. Dominique was very nicely clarifying it wasn't a competition and saying she would be equally out of her depth at a fashion show.
I was already very sure, Steve would use loads of detail shots and he did not disappoint! I love Steve's work and I think his style works really well with animals.
