Horsepower - John Deere 4640 Dualled Mowing Hay 

I'm sitting on my drive way in my pickup, my 2 year old son is asleep in the back (i daren't wake him). Just in range of house wifi with my smartphone and put my ear buds in...this video made me feel so content and chilled out. Quality relaxation time.

I run a 4640 with duals and a 956 discbine. I like having duals on. More stability when swinging the discbine. Also nice not leaving big ruts in wet conditions

Never thought I'd see the day... let alone duals on at the same time. Awesome!

We used to leave the duals on our 7800 pulling out moco because it was just a pain to take them.on and off all the time. Our 4440 was big enough to run that mower when we upgraded. The powershift is definitely easier that the quad range for that application for.sure

I'm just north of you in Lancaster. I cut with a 4840 with 900-50r 42s on the back all the time.

While it's not the ideal tractor for cutting hay, the 4640 got the job done. It's a good thing the 735 cuts as low as it does in order to get as much smashed hay as the rear wheels pushed down as possible. No, that's not the worst problem you deal with by any measure, but it is a potential loss of yield. When you were running the triple mower on the New Holland T7 you avoided that issue, but I'm sure there were other issues that came into play, not the least of which was that it was a demo. Yeah old john deere is the best .. i have two .. one from 69 and one from 87 .. :)

I love old farmhouses. I'm curious...when was yours built and does it have history in your family? Dads older sister and her husband(who inherited the family farm) built theirs in 1948...it never had central heat...just 2 woodstoves. There were large trees around the home...even when it was 95 degrees, the house was about 78 inside. They never needed or wanted AC. The unique aspect to the home was inside...all the door/window trim and the staircase(except the steps themselves which were oak) was wood cut off the farm...CEDAR! There were huge cedar trees which lined the paths that seperates 10, 10 acre fields..the last 2 were wooded....which was harvested yearly. The woodwork was beautiful...it was a 4 bedroom home, 3 were upstairs...with large walk in closets. The upstairs hallway had 1 large dormer that had 3 windows, a early 1800s dropleaf desk, a spindle bed, and a rocking chair. Downstairs, 1 bathroom that opened into the kitchen and the enclosed back porch, another bedroom, living room, dining/family room, and a huge kitchen. The best part was the kitchen table...it was a dropleaf handmade Walnut table which, extended seated 10...the center section was 40" wide...A SINGLE BOARD! Now sure about square feet...I think about 2200. Sorry for being long winded...I spent lots of time there...they never had much money...but the hone was well kept. They had a huge garden and my aunt, who drove the school bus for 24 years, canned and froze everything. She canned meat, sausage balls, and pickled beets, peaches, apples, pears, made apple jelly, grape jelly, strawberry preserves, apple butter, canned peaches for pies, and applesauce. She worked her ass off...usually 400 cans of stuff in 6 pie safes in the basement plus shelves...o h...pickled eggs too. They had beef cattle, hogs, and chickens. When they married, she was 14, and he was almost 34...he lived to 89, she 84. The memories are overwhelmingly wonderful...but sad they are all gone...I have 2 aunts and 1 great aunt who is 92. Take care, Ryan...working with your Dad, and your grandpa when he was living, is a great gift.

John Deer, the DODGE equivalent of tractors and farm equipment

The pto solenoid is shot we had a tractor having the same issue

The tractor pto issue is caused by an electric solinoid failure on the back of the tractor. It's located above the pto output shaft to the right. Replace that electric solinoid and it should work. Easy fix

Man this week has not been good for you first your pro broke than use lost your sd card then you lost your other sd card But I love your videos and I will continue to watch them keep up the good work

Might be the PTO clutch. There is an input speed and output speed sensor. If the PTO clutch slips too much (the speed sensor signals are not the same) the computer will shut it down to prevent further damage.

My grandpa had a 4640 among 5 other 30-50 series Deeres and he traded it for a caseih back in the early 90s. I do not remember what model it was but it was a low hour machine but it was the biggest piece of shit ever. Hydrolic and many electrical issues, after fighting it for 3 years he traded it in for another Deere.

Hi Ryan, I want to ask Why dont you planting corn fields together, but beetwen them are meadows ?

Our 7600 did that very same thing with the PTO. Turn on for a second then die. Turned out to be a plug-in that had a wire pulled out.
