We visited Horseshoe this past July a couple of times as the water pump at Buffalo Springs was out of order and the nearest water was at Horseshoe. We met the hosts, very nice folks. He said it took him a couple of hours to tow his trailer up that very bumpy, rocky road, but that the location was very nice. I agree that the location was nice, but I doubt I would subject my trailer to that road.
Nice looking place, especially for fall camping with the aspens changing color. Any idea what the June- July temperatures are like in this area? It’s gotta be cool enough for an afternoon nap!
I'm guessing at an elevation of 10.5k it would be mid 70's in the afternoon. I'll be putting together a playlist of campgrounds that are open in late September and into October. It is hard to figure out what is open after mid September.
