Horus Heresy LEGIO CUSTODES Army Guide - Every Unit & Where to Find Them! 

I do love my golden boys. I play them all the time in 40k but just recently started getting into them in 30k, luckily all the infantry in my army are magnetised so adding extra options and arms to represent all the additional weapons available in 30k has been a fun pet project for a while now

Kitbash tip. If you got the Heresy box and have terminator combi bolters and power fists left over, you can use those bits on the plastic Custodes termies and make them Aquilons.

There's something satisfying about fielding an entire army of champions. As if any single normal troop would have constituted a hero unit in any other army. And you're just saying, "what if I just threw a couple dozen of those guys at a problem?" It helps that, despite the kits being newer (and thus costlier to build than second hand plastics from the 90s), you'll end up buying, building, and painting far fewer of them.

FYI for Haetaron Guard: even though they can take a presidium shield AND axe or spear, they won't be able to use those weapons if equipped with the shield. The shield rules say "models with a presidium shield do not gain an extra attack when charging and can not make attacks in the assault phase with weapons that have the 2-handed special rule". So unfortunately no spear/axe bros with shields.

My favorite army! I love how few models it takes to make a usable army, and how while they usually have only one option for any given niche, they pretty much always have *one* option for a given niche. You can always find a Custodes unit that does what you want; and you usually don't have to overanalyze which one you want. Plus it's just fun to be to Space Marines what Space Marines are to most other factions.

The custodes are always such an interesting faction. In some ways I think they still represent the strangeness of the early Imperium as it is being born in 30k, and what remains of it in 40k. They have a distinctly this is recognisable as being produced by humans whilst also not looking human at all

Awwww man I love all the Forgeworld Custodes stuff. If they did them in plastic and sold them much cheaper, I would definitely break down and buy everything.

Whilst you can equip shield and spear, and shield and axe on haeteron guard, the praesdium shield doesn't allow you to use two handed close combat weapons which means you can't attack with them in close combat (this is a change from heresy 1.0 where there was no such restriction on the shield

Great video, thank you! Especially for someone like me, who loves the lore but has no idea how to play the game. I also enjoyed your videos on other armies and how to build them. Besides that, could you maybe do a video on the different makers of models that are available? I have no idea why some models are by GW themselves while others are made by a subsidiary of them Forgeworld. What's that about? This could be a bigger video about the History of Games Workshop. Would it be possible to go back and do the HH 2.0 Knight Rules? I really want to enjoy HH2.0, however I play Knights as they are my favourite faction lore wise; and despite having many changes that make them feel more fun in certain aspects It doesn't seem to be clicking enjoyment wise. I am wondering if I am simply not comprehending something about how they are meant to be played that inhibits my enjoyment and am wondering if a rules rundown will help me.

Get some Grey Knight falchions and you are all good on Meridian Blades. And the falchions were not really taken in 9th edition 40K so there are probably a lot out there if you know someone that plays GK in your local area.

I just binged your Eisenhorn and Revanor book club videos and if you liked those then i STRONGLY recommend you read the Watchers of the Throne trilogy by Chris Wraight. ...dogged Inquisitors, deadly female assassins, mystery, intrigue...it has it all.

If ever there was a faction to use with the AL Mobius Configuration WL trait, it is this one. They can be counted to stick until you make your reserve roll and bring in your other forces.

Custodes should also be relatively easy to paint. Just dip 'em in Gold and you are 95% done.

New custodes player here (started with them 3 months ago as my 4th army in 40k and maybe will pick up 30k with them) I find it a missed chance that hey didn't give them land raiders (like in 40k) and the new Spartan assault tanks. (ok in the fluff they have hovering ones... but heyho I wont cry about it)

I don't think I can ever collect custodes, I love them so much, was considering buying a 3rd party version not long befpre burning of prospero broight them official models, and I was so happy... And then GW decided to make two different custodes ranges, one in plastic and one in resin, amd the plastic range wasn't able to be used in heresy! 7 years later I'm still salty, even now with plastic heresy kits galore, heresy custodes reside in resin... They sculpted whole new terminators and jetbikes just to force heresy players to buy resin from forge world after giving us hope that heresy would come to plastic... And now I'm in a position where I could buy forge world custodes if I wanted to, I can't bc every time I'd look at them I'd be reminded of GW treated it's most dedicated fanbase the HH players

i feel like the emperor whenever i play custodes in that i cannot bear to actually play custodes because it makes me too sad to take casualties

Only annoying thing about this book in the magisterium Vexilla option for example u cannot take a Vexilla and guardian for the basic squad the sentinel gaurd unit cannot take the shield and Vexilla combo and the sagittarius unit can take one with a adrathic destructor which there isn't a model weapon for fairly annoying hopefully they will faq with other options

So no old plastic being added to the Heresy list and no old run being moved to plastic but we DID lose the ability to bring Sisters with us? This seems... Bad?
