Thanks for the request Peter, theres a good few songs like this that don't have videos, just the audio, are you guys happy to see this kind of content in terms of reacting to the song alone & not a video? Im more than happy to, let me know what you think guys & girls!
Totally agree with TundraL5Z, there are so many songs out there that only have lyric videos, or no video at all. I think it's a great idea to also react to songs that do not have music videos!
Just an FYI. It is pronounced Ha-s Down, like "hot" but with an s. Its a western/southern American term for someone that is kind of a tough dude or strong. Like saying "that guys a hos" also I assume its a play on the term "hoedown" which is also a western southern term about folk dancing...hence the cowboy hats. ALso, Jason is just a badass guitarists, despite being young, probably one of the most technically skilled on the planet already. He used to play for All Shall Perish, then was in Born of Osiris but they were too douchey, so he left for Chelsea Grin for a brief time, now does solo stuff. I honestly, don't know much about Luke other than that he is obviously a good drummer. Rick Graham - he makes elicit hardcore porn with guitars. His solo's are illegal in most countries.
Hell yeah! That's the only reason I watch react channels, to see how other people respond to stuff Im interested in. Everybody always wants to comment for the next video but doesn't talk about the current one. So its nice to actually share the experience a little.
Luke was picked up by The Word Alive and played with them for a good amount of time. He started with youtube covers, then after joining TWA and networking around the scene he now works with Richardson. Luke left The Word Alive shortly after writing the record with Richardson, probably because that is a full time band. He even did all of the drums on I See Stars's newest record!
There's tons of footage you could watch from Luke and Jason. Luke started off as a RU-vid drummer, and it ended up allowing him to tour with The Word Alive for a while. Check out his channel. I'd recommend reacting to another one like his cover of Veil of Maya's Mikasa. Sam Applebaum, Veil's drummer, is also in the video with him.
Love how damn speechless you were at first when taking your headphones off. Believe me.. that's definetely the reaction everybody I know - even the most skilled musicians - had when first listening / watching this song. A good direction for you would be to listen to Born of Osiris' Follow the Signs album.. he was one of the lead songwriters on that record and it's a damn masterpiece. Atm he's doing more of a solo thing with the project you just listened to. I love how much appreciation and passion you have for the different kinds of music and playstyles. Keep up the good work. Just subscribed :)
Hahahaaa...I had the same reactions when I first heard Jason. Luckily having seen the live a couple times, he's just as sharp and flawless in person -- its scary. Luke is a beast as well. Really friendly dudes!
I just stumbled across your videos and i have to say i love your channel man. Sunscribed. I love how you actually have a musical knowledge and can appreciate what luke amd jason are doing technique wise. Keep up the awesome videos! By the way i saw jason and luke play this live and it was absolutely mental lol
I completely love this song, great to see you react to it! If you're a fan of technical noodly stuff in any way, you must love this. Since you did, anything from Jason's solo album 'I' will probably sound good to you too. Some people say it's too much shred and show-off, but that's mostly the point, for this song especially. And you are right, these guys are young, Jason is 25 and Luke is 24, but man are they technical prodigies. Jason is even joining John Pettrucci's guitar villa masterclass program as an instructor, so if that doesn't say enough about his technical prowess, then nothing will!
Man, you should really listen to some Pain of Salvation, criminally underrated band with one of the best voices in the buisness. I'd suggest either the song "The Perfect Element" or "Undertow" (Reason's good too, but not too representative of the band) but if you wanna have your mind blown by a live performance, go for "Iter Impius+Martius Nauticus", 13 minutes more or less of beauty. love your videos!
There are few who can match Daniel's lyrics and the passion in his vocals! Great band, great music! Hard to pick a favourite song, but my favourite VIDEO is probably "Meaningless"
Okay, I’m gonna just constantly comment this band until you react them and hopefully get them more of the attention they deserve. My absolute favorite band now: they’re called Still_Bloom, listen to their song Apathy Syndrome :)
Listen to a song of Kamelot, one or more of the songs of the concept albums Epica and March of Mephisto! I'm sure you'll LOVE it. If a whole concept album is just too much for a reaction video, just pick any song and listen to the full albums later (if you listen to them in a row, they're loosely based on Faust)
I love that you've discovered these legends from recommendations... Been following Jason for years and these two are mega talented. Looks like it blew you away! Check out Tonga, Thot and Retrograde if you liked this song, not even to react to, just to enjoy!
How has no one suggested uneven structure - frost/hail? Beautiful video, amazing band. Regardless if you react to their video on channel you should still check it out.
BROooooooo I just really started getting into your videos and idk if youve done more reacts to jason and luke projects but literally checkout every single thing theyve done dude they always come out with sick ass stuff and both of them have amazing solo videos aswell Comkng from a drummer for 12 years Lukes one of the best alive
Man if you like Jason Richardson you must react to Retrograde and Fragments from the same album, the first is featuring Spencer Sotelo from Periphery and the second with Lukas Magyar from Veil of Maya, another band I expect you will react one day 😉
Definitely check out The Word Alive if you enjoy this. TWA is the band that Luke plays drums for. Check out their song “2012”. Also check out Chelsea Grin; Jason used to be their guitarist.
Jason does a feature on Polyphia’s song “Aviator”. Jason and Luke also do another song called “Omni”. I can throw polyphia on for hours with songs like “Champagne” “Euphoria” and “Crush” it’s poppy, jazzy, funky, jam metal. In heavier styles check out ‘Intervals’ track called “Mata Hari”
Hi! May I ask, what accent is Truant speaking in? I've watched other youtubers with the same accent and I can't figure out what accent it is. Is it Scottish or something? (Sorry, we don't learn english accents differences here in asia)
Mark Paligar im from Liverpool, england my friend! in terms of dialect, google 'scouse' and you will get the idea haha. Being a port city we have a rather distinct accent that historically is an amalgamation of several others. Its something im very proud of haha. Scottish is not a bad guess though, they too have a rather distinct tone thanks for the comment!
TruantReacts Googled it, really cool history! The first time I heard the accent, I never figured out where or what country it is from haha I thought it actually came from non english countries(mainly europe except UK). I actually love the accent, it makes your videos much better to watch and listen to, not kidding :D I love your reactions btw, I like it when you start speaking :D
If you're looking for more great songs with very technical progressive guitar playing, try out the band The Helix Nebula. Either Crystal Plains or Sailing Stone would be a great choice.
should check out XIV by born of osiris the original band jason richardson was in before joining chelsea grin then eventually doing solo stuff, either that or thin ice by rick graham the guest guitarist
You should check out Aviator by Polyphia, badass song and it features Jason Richardson. Also check out Rick Graham's RU-vid, he's an amazing guitarist, I'll actually be taking lessons from him soon.
