I tried to use a pair of these orange ones to pinch off the hoses to my heater core and I couldn't get them to pinch down tight enough - is there anything I can do to make them work better like put pieces of hose on the pliers and then pinch the hose with the pliers or something like that?
If the hose to your heater core is a bit thicker-walled, this is one of those cases where the metal kind might provide that additional clamping force. But if the issue is that the hose walls are too *thin* (and therefore the jaws just don't come close enough together), I'd definitely try what you're suggesting (I think) -- slip something over the jaws to make them clamp tighter together. Or, again, the metal kind can clamp to all-the-way flat.
@@JustToolBasics I like the looks of your metal ones I just didn't know what they were. Now I know what they look like. My poor car doesn't have a heater or air conditioner I either bake or freeze. They told me my heater core is hot on the bottom but I don't have any heat coming out ( I flushed it and it didn't make any difference) I have a 1989 Pontiac Grand Am and I have the underneath dash all torn out to where you can see the heater core. I thought the blower fan would blow air through it but it doesn't, it seems to come out by these two air conditioner metal lines? My poor air conditioner has a leak somewhere in the system so there you go.
