The strobe plates are actually 4905-9921 A/V mounting plates, which is specifically designed to mount a 4904 series remote strobe alongside either a horn, speaker, or bell.
Yeah, it is very rare to have those set to any tone other than code 3 horn. I belive that having a fire alarm on general horn in a hospital would be agenst code so no patient would be startled and get injured. It is an interesting setup. Simplex pulles and simplex strobes with Faraday horns on hi-lo
Nice video! I love seeing them. Is it possible for an MS9600 to close the smoke barrier doors manually? I'd like to try to do it on my school's next fire drill but we use the drill key so none of the doors close when we use it. Thanks!
The hospital alarm system I am familiar with that I heard sounding once is a Siemens panel with white Wheelock e70 speaker strobes instead of chimes. The speakers play a chime tone 6 times, then play the following message: may I have your attention please, a code red has been reported. Please clear hallways, close doors, and prepare to relocate. (Or something like that.) and they start back with the 6 chime tones and repeat. Luckily, it was false and the evacuate message was never announced. Also, that was the second time I had been there during a fire alarm. The first time I was like five years old and it was a different wing of the hospital, and I feel like the devices were the same, except with ch70s instead of e70s. I think they may have also been red the first time.
I find it odd that they would mix both FOS and Simplex devices. All of these appliances were available through Simplex during the mid 90s through the early 2000s.
@@firealarm2903_ It's kinda complicated: Faraday was once its own company. They were eventually bought by another company named Cerberus Pyrotronics, & then later on Cerberus was bought by Siemens, thus Siemens now owns the rights to both the Faraday & Cerberus Pyrotronics names, along with all the products they once sold. (though I think the only Faraday product Siemens still makes is the Chevron, albeit under their own name) As for Simplex, a lot of Simplex's older products were made by Faraday for Simplex: one example is the 2901-9838 mechanical horn, a rebranded Faraday 6120, which actually uses a variant of the cover seen on the multi-tone horns in this video. From what I've seen "FOS" stood for "Faraday OutSourced", which was their generic brand for products given to companies that didn't make their own, much like what Edwards' "AIP" (Alarm Industry Products) brand was most likely for.
Yeah, there are some North American alarms that do have similar tones to European alarms, such as the System Sensor MASS, the Gentex GOS, & others such as the ones in this video.
Yeah, Simplex used to rebrand several Faraday horns and bells and such. Many of Simplex's own devices that they would design and patent would have the manufacturing done by Faraday (like the T-bar pulls, the 4050-80 and 2903 light/strobe plates, etc.). Nowadays, Simplex has their manufacturing done by Hochiki's Mexico division. Simplex also now has their own line of multi-tone TrueAlert horns.
Why can't more horn/strobes be as acoustically appealing as these, especially all of the buzzer/horn boxes that used to scare the crap out of me at school growing up?!
I have a question why do simplex 4005 Panels take so long to reset other panels reset in 3 seconds but 4005 take forever is there a reason why they take forever to reset
Stephen Bauer I wouldn’t necessarily say they take forever when compared to some other panels I’ve seen however this time can vary depending on various factors i.e. number of zones connected, interface equipment, etc.
SimplexTech Guy9838 our Hospital uses the Chime mode for their fire alarm system. I agree with you on the horn ones....That would scare me or hurt my ear drums!
Our main city hospital has horns in a few areas, namely Space Age 2DCD+AV32 horn/lights in the radiation therapy wing and Simplex TrueAlert horn/strobes in the family suites wing. Both types of alarms I find to be quite brutal. The rest of the hospital has chime tones sound over various Simplex speaker/visuals (largely 4903 rectangular speaker/strobes and 2902-9711 LifeAlarm speakers on 2903 light plates) and on the intercom speakers.
So much better if it is not the same thing to ysay and I just want to go back and I don't think that I have a great way for a few years back on my way home from work to be the first half of the day before I get a follow back on my way home from work to be the first half of the day before I get a follow back please I need a good time with the new version
