I'm a little over halfway through and I'm thoroughly enjoying Hostage. I'm traveling so at my next stop I looked to see how much time remained on the recording. Then I read a few of the comments. Two negatives were bad narrating and cheesy interlude music. Most of the audiobooks I've listened to have a musical interlude. And I like the narrating. The storyline is intriguing, although I wouldn't care to see this whodunit thriller adapted to the big screen because of the type of violence and gore. If while listening to the second half my opinion should change, I'll update this one. 3/4/2023
James Patterson USED to write/author some of the best books. Now he just rubber stamps his name onto who writes his books for him. They are getting worse by the book. BookShots are thankfully short but flimsy. No real time for a back story. I had it figured out chapter 2. The voice volumes go from able to hear TO A WHISPER. Thank god for subtitles.
Kept captive for 16 years and secretly trained as a ninja,,, Knife skills, gun skills, grappling skills, security avoidance skills. All without vitamin B12
In one second it went from a cancer diagnosis to cheesy music. What the heck??? This seems to be a thing in lots of various videos. Is there some secret decoder ring that can explain this to me? Super annoying.
What's with the crappy dialogue from the cop? So far-fetched and unrealistic... laughable, even. Very poor writing, in my opinion. So, a body that has been lying dead for at least two hours drips blood so loudly that a person across a big room can hear it??? 😂
Agree, clumsy storyline and not up to his usual standard. 6 policemen turn up to a brutal murder!! I know the Met is understaffed but really 🤣🤣🤣. However narrated was very good
