This guy has got such a calming presence about him, it’s no wonder that he’s a good hostage negotiator. Thanks for all the awesome insights! Hope they bring you back again soon, perhaps to review other types of negotiations scenes in movies through the eyes of a hostage negotiator?
That last bit of info is golden: First seek to understand others Then formulate your position so that they might understand you. Imagine if people in politics took this advice!
I was about so say, they didn't do THE Negotiator. The whole movie is named after the practice. Maybe that's why. Too much to go through since they do talk negotiating tactics for like half the runtime. Now I have to go and watch it. Haven't seen it in forever.
I really liked the movie , but there is something about it that I couldn't put my finger on that stopped it being a classic like these other movies , I'm not counting metro btw🤣 although it was a lot of fun
If I ever get in a hostage situation - whichever way - I'd ask for Mr. Nadeau to come sort it out. He is really pleasant to listen to as well - I guess that can be helpful too 😅
The show Flashpoint has what I think are some great negotiating scenes and philosophies around calming the subject down and connecting with them. My all time favorite show
Why Speed of all things? He's not a negotiator, he's there for tactical support and to clear the building, not try to negotiate. That was a waste of time.
