Super stoked for this deck! At face value it seems to lack focus a bit, but I think it could be easily tuned to be a serious preformer.

Worth noting that the army also becomes the creature type you're amassing (orcs in this case), allowing you to get zombie synergies by mixing it with the original amass.

I surprisingly like how split the focus is. Fun variance and seems like it can go many different ways depending on how your first few turns go.

I think the reason Subjugate the Hobbits doesn't take control of commanders is because it's referencing the "Scouring of the Shire" where Saruman goes ahead of the Heroes and basically enslaves the hobbits. It's thematic because none of the main heroes were there when it happened.

The Black Gate is funny because if you have the most life it is just a bad swamp It is the 22nd gate for WUBRG gates tho. 13th gate for Nine-Fingers

I like the Sauron, my mental image is so influenced by the movies and by extension the games workshop game, Sauron is like 8 or 10 feet tall and just slaughtering everyone with a single swing, that he really aligns with that. Saruman is cool too. I just am such a sucker for "i bring a pet" cards since Urza. But I want a Nazgul deck so its Lord of the Nazgul for me. Just too bad I cant play the saga then. Or the mana rock for that matter. I wish there was a little more equipment and something more specifically for the Witch King or Sauron. The wizards staffs, a Nazgul sword, or a weapon for Sauron seems like a miss.

Just wanted to point out, Shelob's ability doesn't totally shutdown aristocrats, as they're not exiled *instead*, so they do still die, and therefore still trigger things like zulaport cutthroat and blood artist, but they won't stay there to be reanimated or anything like that.

I love using evolving wilds and terramorphic expanse in 2 to 5 color decks helps you mana fix for your hand, also love the etb sack fetch from new cappena

I love the Sauron precon and would love to see an upgraded pre-con using cards from the set!

i think even Sauron, the Dark Lord would be a better commander for this Deck.

As a Nazgul fan, i really want to build a Wraith deck with Lord of the Nazgul at the helm. I love that card.

I love it! Im excited add ManaBarbs so whenever my opponents travel middle earth (tap lands) it pains them to try and get closer to me. 😅 yea i know it hurts me too but Mordor is a harsh place.

I don't think Shelob actually stops aristocrats, because it says "When a creature an opponent controls dies, exile it" rather than "when a creature an opponent controls dies, exile it *instead* " which I'm pretty sure means that it doesn't stop death triggers. This is actually a good thing if you want Shelob, Dread Weaver in your Shelob, Child of Ungoliant deck, or else it'd be a nonbo.

I picked this deck up last night at my lgs pre release. It was the last 1 on stock too lol. I'm going to piece it out and lean more into the orcs and goblins theme.

I think they missed a huge flavor bit with Sauron not having Eminence. Something like "Whenever a Legendary ETBs or attacks Amass X" dunno what x should be but you get the point. That'd help make it worth the cost and be flavorful to the lore

The thing about sauron is that he does his thing the instant he is cast which is good and once he is on the battlefield he is "only" a 9/9 trample creature with no effect, so okay he is a big threat but you are not reliant on him anymore and he does enough for 8 mana

A cool piece of design for Sauron is that it's ability is a cast trigger, not an etb. That way, even if your 8 cmc commander gets counterspelled, you still get the value.

Shelob does not really shut down aristocrat / sac decks. The exile is not a replacement effect, so creatures still die and then are exiled from the graveyard. So death triggers still happen.

Why is he holding a sword in the art? Sauron's weapon is famously a giant mace which he used to break narsil.

Uh hey Tomer ya missed the Monstrosity of the Lake's ability of putting a Stun counter on each of those tapped creatures! This means that, in most cases those creatures will remain tapped for TWO turns, because of the Stun counter's ability. I believe this raises this kraken up a hair from the unplayable mark into the playable in a sea monsters deck!

Subjugate the Hobbits could have been a great candidate for cycling as well. Get it early? Cycle for advantage and maybe put it back on top of your library later.

I think it's so interesting how they chose to do creature type line, like why is Tom Bombadil a God but all of the Maiar are Avatars?

I preordered this deck because I loved the text on both Saurons. Looking at the decklist it seems a bit conflicted with what it wants to do, and can't choose between Amass or reanimation, or goblin and orc tribal.

Told myself I’d buy less sealed projects….but I can’t NOT get theses 4. Lovely decks.

I have to confess to not being a very good deck builder and my decks are not terribly focused - which is why this deck will be perfect for me!

Are these commander cards also modern legal like the main set is? Black Gate with Death's Shadow is pretty rad.

i wish they would print a card that would trigger when you amass and the trigger summons a token prolly a 1/1 and if they where spicy the token would have when you amass put a +1/+1 counter on this creature

Can these Commander cards be used when constructing 60-card regular duel play decks, or are these “shield icon” commander cards for Commander gameplay only?

amass is such a flavor fail and i will never get over it. i summon an army but its actually just 1 creature, and when i add to my army im really just making my 1 creature bigger. so literally an army can be stopped by any single creature in magic? at the very least amassed creatures should have trample so that a 5/5 army cant be blocked by a 0/1 plant token. sure it blocked 1 of the army members but the other 4 should get through

I don't really get why there are so many dragons in this set. Smaug was the last great dragon in middle earth so where's Sauron is getting these dragons that are arguably better than the Smaug we are getting in the main set? Kind of a flavor fail. That said good reprints in this deck, still not sold how playable it is out of the box compared to the other decks in the set but I suppose we will see. Im gonna pick up all of these for myself and try to get my friends to play them in a pod.

Ngl I will probably buy the frodo deck and let it be sealed ,next to my LOTR books lol ...I have vampiric bloodlust from 2017 still sealed and because I don't play paper anymore its just gonna sit there ...but I will build a commander deck around frodo on MTGO ...food and lifegain are nice

Omg Mtg is going to drain my bank account. Honestly, the only deck im not so crazy about is the Elvish one. Since im not too good at the politican aspect of commander. Maybe that's a weakness of mine. But, daaaamn as Lotr fan im seriously tempeted to buy all four precons.

Man, in my opinion, this precon feels all over the place, a bit disappointed honestly. I love Sauron as a character, so I was expecting something more interestring, instead, we got a 8 mana reanimation spell with upside and a big body, dont get me wrong, its still pretty strong, it just feels boring and uninspired, hell, Sauron the Necromancer is also a somewhat reanimation commander with wraith support.
