Today, I’m putting the infamous One Chip Challenge to the test-but not on humans! I’ll be feeding the ultra-spicy chip to microbes, worms, and water fleas to see how they react. Will the spiciness affect these tiny organisms?

I usually prepare questions before the live stream, and start them with "off topic", or "For the Q&A". This also gives me time to phrase the question correctly and give all the info that Oliver needs to respond. But I like this format, Oliver gets the time to present his theme, and we are assured that our questions are addressed.

I bought glass tealight holders and they are made of thick heat resistent glass and are heavy and are as good as block dishes. I bought 7 for £0.50p each.

nice one - Carolina Reaper chilis are about 2 million Scoville units - in comparison, the Habanero is up to 350,000 and Jalapeno maxes out around 8000 I use OBS for my micro shows too, but as you discussed having a group session I use Streamyard on my music/tech channel called SynthAddict, and I could host up to 5 more visitors from my end if you want to add my shared session to your live OBS stream one day 🙂 just an idea

regarding the live vs. printed chat comments, it's hard to get folks to format all of their questions and comments- I've tried it and it can be too random emojis are too tough for mobile viewers to use easily in chat (people like me often watch on the phone), so you could have folks start a comment with Q in comments that are random questions and a Q+ for questions about current onscreen items during live you only have to answer Q+ questions and later answer any Q or non -labeled questions via the printout - you can easily see the Q variations if everyone starts a comment with a Q or Q+ - it's not much to ask regarding the chat during streaming - I have OBS almost fullscreen for my shows, and I use the popout chat in YT (another window) to have a narrow column of chat right alongside the OBS window - that way I can see more chat at once and it stays where I left it when I lat scrolled it so I don't lose my place during streaming - you can also drag through the last read comment to highlight it if you need to just a few suggestions 🙂 they work well for me

This summer I was dealing with a lot of thrips on a plant and people said to use a little bit of soap and oil in water so I did but didn't notice any changes in their behaviour. I caught a larvae and used a magnifying lense to get a closer look at it and then I sprayed the solution on it. Nothing changed! After several minutes no change, after an hour nothing even after a day it was alive and *swimming* in the soapy water. I tried various concentrations and it was really difficult to get a success in dealing with the thrips so I have no idea how other people do it. People were saying that the mix of soap and oil would break open their body like you mentioned earlier in the video but it didn't seem to happen. The thrips larvae are really tiny, you can barely see them with the naked eye, I think they might be smaller than the mite shown in the video.

I used dish soap + hot pepper flake to get rid of aphids and it work. Just be careful not to put too much hot pepper because it will kill the leaves (learned it the hard way). Look internet for various recipes. The reaction is on the molecular level; impossible to see it with microscope. Sometime, it can affect external membrane of insect at a specific development stage (larva or pupa or adults) or digestive/metabolism or else. What I've use for thrips is sticky yellow card to catch the flying adults. It's also a great thing to make sure the local environment is great for natural predators. I also put aphid + diatomaceous earth on a jar: they live more than 7 days! Microscope is awesome for pest identification and to determine if critters are dead or affected by our actions. Keep going your good gardening work!

@@alexandrevaliquette3883 It's indoor so I don't have access to natural predators sadly. What gets them in the end from my own experience with increasing the amount of soap was something kind of odd. After a few weeks of spraying the plants they got sticky which didn't do much in the beginning. However once the larvae turned into thrips they often wiggle around and they got stuck in the soap and died. After an inspection a few weeks ago I noticed a lot of adults thrips that had died on the leaf, stuck in the "glue" the soap had created. The plant leaves are really shiny so I hope the plant didn't suffer. The growing period is over now so I'll have to experiment more next year.

mit dem Saft roter Peperoncini habe ich beobachtet, dass sich Mikroorganismen bei genringer Capsaicin-Konzentration schneller bewegen, bei hoher Konzentration jedoch langsamer oder ganz bewegungslos werde.
