John, you are a source of inspiration!! This made my day. My FD comes in March and I already know what all my clients are getting for next Christmas. I think the fact that you always reconstitute what you show on your videos is the reason your videos are the best
John, you need to protect your ideas. You are a charitable man helping all of us in a grand way. There are many people who would take your intellectual property for profit. I hope that doesn't happen. One day you will be rewarded in a way that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. You can bank on that one! You truly are an inspiration. I thank you with all sincerity.
I made a few of these a year ago. Ot’s cold and rainy so I just made my hubby a Mocha (coffee and 1 puck) and made myself a hot chocolate YUMMY and I now need to make more 🤤
I agree about the source of inspiration! This is one of the next things on our list to do. We do not drink coffee, but love hot chocolate. Thanks John!
I just ran a full batch of these, about 34 hours total time. They may have been done sooner but I had to go to work. I put too many marshmallows so I had a hard time getting the lids on. I might try whip cream next time, keep it level with the top of the molds. Very tasty! Thanks
I am so glad I found you on RU-vid! You have so many FD ideas, meal plans and tasty snacks to store away for a future time. I’m new to FDing and you are one of the couple RU-vid’ers I subscribe to. Please keep it up and don’t run out of ideas! By the way-I LOVE those napkin tablets you recommended! I even keep them in the car! They’re so handy! I also appreciate the silicon products you use. I have bought most of the identical items and they work great! I’m going to try your banana treats with the Nilla wafers next. They look so yummy! Happy freeze drying, John in bibs! Jesus bless you, too! D.
John in Bibs have you considered when using molds, using a cake decorating piping bag to fill your molds? It would make filling your molds so much easier and faster.
I really liked this idea. I knew it would FD as chocolate will when it’s mixed with other ingredients like milk that Freeze Dries. I was a little concerned about the mold because you didn’t mention it’s sold as a “soap mold.” After looking around I realized that’s just the way the seller on A advertises it. But the cost got me. Perhaps it was cheaper when you got yours but they want $13-16 for one mold. There are cheaper options for just about the same thing (deeper than 1 inch cup) at $9. So I’m sorry you won’t be getting anything when I make my purchase, if you still do that is as this vid is 3 years old.
What are the settings and process. Do i freeze it in my fridge first then put it in the freeze dryer at which settings? Or do i put it in the freeze drying at specific settings ? looking to make this for my wife and surprise her please and thank you
Normal settings. If you use the molds then pre freezing is a must because of the thickness. Also because the disks are so thick run them at least 40 hours. Break one disk in half to ensure the center is dry
I didn't try it on this video but I made a video with a different recipe and they tasted great! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_ohjvYwGgT8.html
Normal fd settings. However, you will have to add loads of extra dry time because of the thickness of the disks. I think 48 hours total time should be good. Just check the center of one disk to ensure completely dry in the center
Yes that is my FD in the background. I live in a mobile home with a small kitchen and is in the kitchen. I am old and getting hard or hearing so the noise isn't too loud for me.
Idk what we did wrong. I followed step by step. They sat in the freezer for two days (FD was in use) and just taking them out of the molds they started defrosting right in my hands. Got them back in the freezer after putting on the trays. When done in the freeze dryer they were not done all the way in the middle. Took over 40 hours. Is that how long yours ran?
Thanks for making me watch this video again. It reminds me how great it tasted. From the beginning of the video if you look above the skillet/pan you will see the two measuring cups and see that they are two different sizes. The one on the right is 1 cup and the one on the left is 2 cups as stated. Thanks for watching
friend me on facebook and send me a private message. I will send you one free of charge (if you are in the US) you can find my facebook link by clicking my name and going to my youtube page. Up in the top you will see the facebook symbol
I don't know but I just opened one from a year ago when I made this video and mixed up a cup. It still tastes just as rich and good as it did a year ago
We don’t have our freeze dryer yet… still saving for it. We are learning all we can from you folks who have yours and are sharing your experiences. Thank you!! These Cocoa Pucks are wonderful! I am adding them to my “keep list” of freeze dryer recipes.
