This movie is worth unlimited rewatches. The more you watch, the more you realize that every. single. line. pays off at some point.

"Everybody and their mums is packin' round here." "Like who?" "Farmers." "Who else?" "Farmers' mums" The first two people Angel encounters when returning? The farmer and his mum. Every line in this movie pays off. Pure. Genius.

The twist is given away right at the start of the movie when Nicholas is talking with his superiors about moving. "With respect, sir, you can't just make people disappear." "Yes I can. I'm the Chief Inspector." Leader of the cult in Sanford? The Chief Inspector.

Early drafts of the script had a love interest for Angel to meet when he moved to town, but they cut the role and just gave all the lines to Danny (switch off) with no changes. True Bromance.

His ex girlfriend was Cate Blanchett The thief dressed as santa was Peter Jackson Dave "hello there" was Edgar Wright

I like to pretend my favourite film is something highbrow but the truth is, hot Fuzz is my all time favourite film 😂

Angel: “Decaffeinated?” ... cuts to someone decapitated 😂 It’s the little things in this movie that makes it so great. Honestly in my top 5 movies of all time.

Never forget that Cate Blanchett ASKED to be a part of the film and pretty sure she requested to be uncredited. *LOVE HER*

This movie is a masterpiece. Every line says something useful, no throwaways. Every joke, visual or dialogue, pays off.

Did you know the most expensive scene of this movie to shoot was when Angel and Danny were watching Point Break on TV because of the copyright and licensing?

This film is a masterclass in set ups and payoffs. So many throw away lines in the first two acts in fact are setting up beats for the third act. Not a moment wasted. One of my favorite films ever.

I went to university in this area from a big city and I remember the first time I watched this film I couldn’t understand the farmer or the rambling police officer but after working in a bar for a year I could understand the farmer word for word without the translations and it was very concerning...

Timothy Dalton as Skinner was hilarious. I'm a big Dalton fan going back to when he played James Bond.

The 'creepy guy' was James Bond once. And the 'other guy' is Nick Frost.

It's amazing how Olivia Colman came from being a good comedic actress to an Oscar winner!

14:00 This bit's even funnier when you know that both of those accents are barely exaggerated, countryside accents are something else

This was shot in Wells in Somerset. They still have a plastic swan outside the cop shop.

Michael the “yarp” guy is the Hound from Game of Thrones.

Some things neat about this movie not often talked about: A lot of real policemen like this movie because it shows the part cop action movies almost never do, the paperwork. Police have to write up reports for absolutely everything they do and the stuff they pull in movies like Bad Boys would take weeks to go through, so real police who saw Hot Fuzz found it darkly amusing that they make a point of showing that even the badass action man needs to write up reports. Nobody actually dies in the final action beats. Despite the violence and gunfire, all of the people Angel and Danny wade through are alive at the end of it. The way the shotguns on his back are positioned look like angel wings. And lastly, my favorite little detail, the conspiracy theory Angel comes up with initially for the murders is entirely legitimate, it just happens to be wrong. He's completely correct that all of the evidence thus far pointed to it, it's just that it was something much, much more mundane.

The white horse riding is actually a biblical reference. Death riding a pale horse.

One of my favourites is at 7:20 - how every swear word is censored in some way, except for 'cunt', which is generally considered the worst swear word in the language.

"Yeah, cuz we all sell apples round here don't we?" "You Dad sells apples Andy." "And rasberries!"

Every single shot and line in this movie is a set up for a callback. Masterpiece. Also like Shaun of the Dead is an ode to zombie movies this one is an ode to buddy cop action flicks and you can see it in several shots.

The one thing I love is when Danny is questioning him "have you done this?" and "have you done that?", Angel ends up doing all of those things at the end of the movie.

I just noticed how when Angel rides into town on a white horse, the shotguns on his back look like angel wings.

I grew up in the same area as Simon pegg. This is a worryingly accurate representation of just how serious the best kept village competition really was.

Fun fact: in the UK police service on test questions to get into the police service they use a fictional town to set the situations that the questions are based on and its called Sanford.

The editing in Edgar Wright movies is always on point!

This movie has one of the funniest unexpected scenes I have seen. When Timothy Dalton trips at the end and gets skewered, then says "this really hurts". Haha

This is a film my friends and I consider to be "perfect". The writing is spot on with every line paying off at some point and is never non-sensical. The editing just enhances the movie and gives it perfect pacing. The sound is wonderfully done and placed. The jokes are just that right level where they are funny, but not too high or low-brow. I'm trying to recall the whole movie, but I don't think there is an overabundance of swearing (they kind of get it out of the way by displaying the swear box with them written down, so they don't have to be said), not that I necessarily care about that, but they're able to make this without it. The actors all clearly care about the film and are putting in great performances that are dramatic, yet funny; witty, yet deep. Going back to the pacing, it ramps up at just the right speed to make you feel satisfied at the end, but it also incorporates enough twists and turns from a normal "whodunnit?!" movie to keep you engaged and guessing until the payoff. It is just so, so good!

When Danny is looking at DVD's in the supermache, one of them is Shaun of the Dead with Pegg being hid by the sales sticker!!

My favorite from the Cornetto trilogy. Can't wait to see this, my man!

I love what this says about how Londoners feel about people living in small villages like this. I lived over there for a decade and toured around to a ton of small places as a musician. The feeling you get is legitimately like this sometimes, adorable but also an undercurrent of something dark and secretive. It's brilliant the way this captures that.

'Hot Fuzz' is one of those films you can watch over, and over, and over again. Loved the reaction Brandon!

The "trilogy" is called "Cornetto Triolgy"( shorten ), because in every movie you can spot a cornetto ice cream at somepoint in the movie. It's pretty hard to see it at first, i only noticed after searching online. Maybe you can spot where it is in this movie or on the next one! Once again excited to see your reaction! ( i'm writing this before watching the whole video so if you mentioned the name of the unnoficial trilogy or any other information that i wrote here at somepoint in the video i apologize, just really like to interact and give some info that i know =) )

My favorite running bit in the film is when the old cop hears a sexual innuendo, he nonchalantly says the one word obvious. Example, when Doris says something about having a Gobble, the old cop says, "Cock." This happens several times in the movie.

"It's too obvious man. There's no way it's him." And that's the joke... ...well, one of them.

Olivia Colman is so fun in this movie!

Simon Pegg was also one of the writers on the third Star Trek Movie, Star Trek Beyond. So many set ups and call backs in this movie - did you catch the one from the fair? "Take out all the little people, and you can walk off with the cuddly monkey", he took out all the towns folks, and walked off with his new besty!

I love this movie, not just because it's extremely well-directed, acted, written, and the editing is phenomenal; but because it's a reversal of the "Career-person moves from the city to the country and gets charmed by their small-town values"

This film is a perfect blend between an Ealing comedy and the Wicker man to the point where Edgar Wright even casted Edward Woodward from the original Wickerman (1973) to play the doctor.

Reverend Shooter is also Belloq from Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the lost ark.

Hilarious enough, although most of the "deaths" look lethal none of the townspeople are ever killed by Angel, A perfect by the book cop.

Simon pegg cowrote the whole trilogy with edgar wright. Their movies are brilliant bc they take what they enjoy from each genre and take them to another level. The use of callbacks, quick montages and dialogue is so detailed and precise. You can see the infancy of this trio's work (nick frost, the bff rounds it out) in their tv show spaced. It will only make u more awestruck 😍

You should check out "Attack the Block." It's a sci fi comedy that stars John Boyega and Nick Frost; that film deserves more love.

My favorite line in the movie is when the flower lady gets killed and there’s a shot where she’s sitting there with shears in her neck and the guy is like “You’re saying this WASN’T an accident” F*cking hilarious.

When I saw this in the theater and it got to the part where he yells By the Power of Greyskull, I burst out laughing and then realized I was the only one laughing in the whole room.

YES! I absolutely love this film, easily one of my top 5 comedies ever! Also, the guy who played the Santa who stabbed Nicholas Angel in the hand was actually played by Peter Jackson.

Also, the priest was Belloq in Raiders of the lost ark.

The amount of callbacks from the first act in the third act in this movie is staggering. You have to watch it a couple of times just to notice them all.

If you like visual comedy then you should check out Kung fu hustle by Stephen Chow. It a great martial arts comedy from Hong Kong.

Simon pegg’s face @ 11:56 is one of the hardest I’ve ever laughed in a movie theater.

The peace lily is a nod to Leon: the professional which you should definitely watch if you haven’t already

This came out before Scott Pilgrim. The editing in Scott pilgrim was made to complement the comic style since most of the shots in that movie are near perfect replications of the comic frames

"For the Greater Good.." There are just so many little caught call-backs right from the beginning for example: every question Danny asks Nicholas they end up doing later in the movie; the order of meeting people on his first day is the exact same when he comes back.

By the way all the "kills" by the police officers are non lethal shots. Might be a bit political at the moment but it was made to be a contrast to the movie cops who shot and ask questions later. This movie has so many layers

This movie came out in 2007, 3 years before Scott Pilgrim vs the World(2010).

Hot Fuzz is one of my favourite comedies and my favourite out of the Cornetto trilogy , love how you sort of predicted but also was genuinely surprised when things happened.

The man dressed as Father Christmas, who stabs Angel in the hand, is a cameo from Peter Jackson. Angel's ex is a cameo from Cate Blanchett.

One thing I'd like to add is how much you can tell Edgar Wright is making an homage to action movies. Love that he had a James Bond as a villain (Skinner) and gave him a proper chase and fight sequence. Also another cool tidbit is David Arnold doing the amazing score and he composed many of the James Bond movies!

Seriously. You need to watch "True Romance". You like seeing great actors shine, you like seeing Gary Oldman disappear into a role, you like Tarantino's writing and Tony Scott's producing and you like films that surprise you with something different. For all these reasons and more you NEED to watch True Romance.

First time?! Oh man you're so lucky. What I'd give to watch this for the first time again. Also the best part about the final battle is that there's no deaths. Angel takes them all in alive.

The way Edgar Wright uses the simplest scenes and most obsolete lines to foreshadow major plotpoints and plot twists. Every single line in this movie has a pay off later later on and i love it.

I think I’m also laughing at the fact that you’re just as amused and confused and surprised at everything that’s happening in all of the same ways that the rest of us were when we first watched it! You’re correct - - Edgar Wright is a freaking genius, the editing is absolutely out of this world, and there’s really no movie like this. A masterpiece of… everything! Oh - and you are no editing slouch yourself! Your editing made it twice as funny. This movie always cracks me up and so did your reactions! Keep up the great work!

Great review/video. It's a film I watched so many times after it first came out but haven't seen it for a long time. This video basically was like re-watching and remembering all the best moments of the film. Good stuff.

LETS GO! My favorite comedy of all time. The visual comedy from Edgar Wright is splendid. Everything is just so over the top but the actors sell it just perfectly. The gun reloads during the town shootout are beyond parody. On rewatch I laugh the whole way through every time.

This movie is great to rewatch once you know the story. Also I love The Worlds End. If you want more of their work you should check out their tv series called Spaced.
