Tbf, they designed it for rifles. The cover/charger was meant to be stored in a gun case or like batteries since it’s pretty much what it is. On its own, it’s supposed to have a few thousand hours of life, more than enough time to get back to a charger
Yep. I checked the compatibility and the rock is compatible. It has a lot of compatible bullet slingers even for picattini rail for your AR. I see O-lights red dots selling out and going up in price.
I shot this at the Primary Arms range day. I did not like it, there's a lot of distortion on the outside of the glass, like very noticable. And this was the display model they had.
Man the gun community is so critical of newcomers. I personally love all my olight products and prefer the magnetic charging they offer. I really like the big sight picture as I prefer red dots like the SRO. Be interesting to see what other optics they come up with. Any company bringing innovation to guns is a win in my book.
Just like holosun had issues when they came out but have since became a household name, I believe olight is there now. I love me some surefire products on my main pieces, but I also love me some olight handhelds and WMLs
Thought the same exact thought. This is the first go at it, and let's be honest, for a first time optic it ain't bad at all! Not great, but DEFINITELY not BAD! Give em 3-4 more iterations of it and they'll have it dialed in. People hate on em, but I've had incredible luck with olights on my weapons. Have never had a single problem and they've been fantastic lights for me
Id def throw it on an SBR or a ARP, but it just looks way too big to go on a pistol for me. I do dig the recharge garage tho lol...i think the kid that grew up watching "future warfare" movies inside of me just loves how friggin cool it is😂
So we have to rely on their own proprietary plastic junk charger to charge its non-user servicable internal battery? NO THANK YOU i'll stick to other proven chinese red dots like holosun
@@TopShotDustin and since the internal battery is rechargeable lithium, it will certainly have a short battery life compared to its non-rechargable counterparts. I just don't see why Olight would want to make everything so proprietary when every other red dot seems to work perfectly fine for years and years with a standard coin battery that you can instantly change out with a shell casing
Nice real world type of testing...without the cartoon-ish destructive tests. I mean I don't think they'll drop their own guns from six feet onto concrete or repeatedly drop a rock onto it. Its holding zero after 1k rounds...looks like it works just fine. Seems like a pretty decent first try at an optic. If you can deal with the non replaceable battery...don't look too bad at all.
If you carry IWB, the lint from your clothing will eventually make the adhesive grips start to come off in areas. The rear grip on mine is starting to peel off. Twice I have used a heat gun to get it to stick down but it onky lasts a few days. Great grips, just plan on them not lasting super long if you carry IWB every day.
That's not what it's from. It is because the top of the glass cover for the emitter is exposed. A piece of black electrical tape over it will eliminate it.
I believe that reddish bar above is the flat surfaces of the aluminum housing behind and above the emitter reflecting ambient light. Other sights have provisions for this reflected light (serrated top section)
This thing is awesome idk why so many people are hating on it. It may not be perfect for a carry gun because of the size, but for my mini 14 with tye hanibal rail installed? The bigger window on this sight is gonna be perfect for target aquisition on that gun because the hanibal rail makes the red dot mount pretty far forward on the gun
@yourmissingsock556boop3 probably a QC problem and not an actual problem with the dot. Rule of thumb, never buy new items at the beginning of production, your bound to run into problems that the manufacture didn't find yet. Wait bout 6 or 7 months and I'm sure every one that gets out will hold zero
thank you for the video. i was going to buy one because of the sale they are currently running. but i would need to buy an adapter plate, and i would not be able to tolerate that red bar. i have the Vortex CCW RDS, and for the money, its very good
That charging case is sick IMO. But reading the reviews, it doesn't hold a zero. So that sucks. Maybe they'll improve on it because honestly i really like the red dot.
Built in battery, doesn't hold zero and the glass won't survive simple drop test according to nearly every review outside of those on the Olight payroll. All this at the same price point as a proven Holosun. Who in their right mind outside of an Olight fanboy would buy this?
I think for a 159-dollar sale price it's what you would expect but it holds zero pretty well so not that bad. maybe they will improve the glass slightly it almost looks like it's the emitter causing the red cutoff on the top portion but hard to tell.
I am actually not an o light hater, but aside from function I still like my pistols to look cool and this think is kinda tall and clunky not very good looking
The most terrible red dot on the market, you can get farrr better ones for $100-$150 even stated by many other reviewers… and at least 50% of them never will be able to hold zero
SMH how else u want them to do it it’s a company that uses rechargeable things…lame a** excuse I’d rather u say u just don’t like the mf company and keep it moving..tf either it’s gone take bs a** batteries or self charging now u want them to allow u to charge a batter how u want? Aint 💩 wrong wit the set up hope they do other footprints and sizes…long as they keep improving
The glass can't be flat, it's a reflex sight, the red line is a reflection tinted by notch filter. It needs to reflect the laser into your eye. If you look close, it's basically reflecting the optic base back to you in the color of the glass coating. The thing looks massive! Since it's bigger glass, the reflection is bigger. Smaller optics have the same issue if the glass was "taller". Even though, you can still see this type of reflection in others. Interesting video....I got the email with the optic picture and laughed...I thought it was a joke and deleted it!
They honestly suck. Any minor bump or hit snd they break and/or lose zero. And the "treat your equipment right argument" is moot. Anything firearm related that needs to be handled with kid gloves and gentle tenderness is junk.
@@johncox8946 I have a couple Cylee's (roughly 200 or less) as well as RMR's...that's not the point big shooter. The point is Olight is hit or miss, and surely isn't for duty use where your life depends on it. Sure for a range toy maybe, but Olight has failed me 3x with WML. Only thing I'd ever recommend from them is a desk lamp. They need to stay in their lane, firearms aint it.
@@Qthunderchickenor airsoft people 😂 the only Olight product I have and will touch are their handheld lights for daily use. Wouldn’t trust my life with optic or wml
