On this episode of The Fab Forums I make some transmission panels for the Bibbster using my english wheel.
Welcome to The Fab Forums. My name is Kyle Voss and I produce Custom Motorsports Fabrication content of all forms for you. Carbon Fiber, TIG Welding, Metal Shaping, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Choppers, and everything in between. I work hard to bring you new content on a weekly basis.
Here are some of the builds you can find on this channel.
I have built several Chevy trucks on this channel. The first was my 1964 C10 named Crown Spoyal and the most recent C10 truck project was the 1969 I currently have named the Black Pearl.
I am also finishing up a custom twin turbo Ford Mustang build I call the Gray Goose. It’s a 400 cubic inch Windsor style engine with twin 70mm turbos. I am hoping to make around the 1000 horse power mark to the tires on this particular build.
Last but not least is the one off custom hot rod build called the Bibbster. This is what I call a modern day hot rod. It’s made from an old Ford Mustang foxbody, but made to look like an old school open wheeled hot rod.
I also feature other fabricators and shops like Cutworm Specialties hand formed aluminum wide body kit for a BMW e46. Jeb Greenstone has also built a twin turbo, coyote powered model A style hot rod from scratch, and is currently building a Toyota TE72 wagon drift car powered by a 1UZ Lexus v8. Jeb’s custom fabrication skills are fun to watch and always make for good videos.
Check out my playlist to see some or all of these builds.

Dont let your lack of equipment get in your way, but you will definitely have better results with less work by having the correct tools for the job. Every tool available was invented by someone doing it the way youre thinking about doing it, and saying, nah there's gotta be a better way for a better result. Just my .02

maybe pre stretch on the wheel where your going to bead roll. The panel should shrink some after a bead

seems to work well , one way i seen that quilt thing done on a bead roller was with a sharp edge wheel and a rollerblade wheel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-859YBxgpgPw.html doesnt seem to mind that youre crossing previous rolled lines too mush i think it will look nice and fills in a lot of open real estate on the panels , either bare or painted to look like leather wonder if you can adapt a beadroll die to make stitchmarks never seen that done on metal before

Kyle dumb question man but would you have to do additional cutting to the panel if you do bead work after the English wheel work because it stretched it out further than the cut out? I'm sure it's a dumb question but sick work man

lack of tubes? in what capacity?
@ButBigger42
@ButBigger42 5 лет назад
@@Thefabforums there's one tube connecting the top and bottom of the trans tunnel. Theres 1 tube connecting the trans tunnel to the sides. With a v8 that thing is going to twist in the center.

I just want to say that I love your channel. I've been watching for about a year and a half. My question is, since you are using aluminum against mild steel do you worry about a galvanic reaction?

Not anymore than an aluminum wheel on a steel brake rotor or a aluminum trans on a steel engine block.

@rafatrill
@rafatrill 5 лет назад
Lmao I was asking a honest question like "Have u ever used one before" I haven't that's why I asked. A lot of times editing helps you look good and look like a pro also. I trust Kyle and his opinion but I would like to see him mess up or at least be honest with us by telling us hey this was my second try and this is what ive learn from my mistakes. I get inspired to build stuff from videos like these. These videos aren't just entertainment for me there a way to learn and become a better fab guy. and because of kyle just this week I build my own battery box/tray for my chevy truck out of aluminum diamond plate. Thanks kyle for the inspiration and motivation. It didn't come out perfect but hey it works and I learn a lot from it.
@Thefabforums
@Thefabforums 5 лет назад
Yeah this was my first try at making something on the wheel. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of what needs to be done, just making the wheel do that is the harder part. This tunnel piece isn't perfect by no means but its something I think can still be cleaned up.

josh owens are you ever going to take your helmet off? Perfection takes time, and look at the car. There’s clearly tons of hours invested already. If you want a bullshit, tossed together build series, there’s plenty of other places to watch that. 👍
@JO.Racing
@JO.Racing 5 лет назад
Potato Pete I’m just curious if Kyle has a realistic build completion date. I’ve been watching this series for over a year and I’d love to see some more progress done on it
@djay1120
@djay1120 5 лет назад
josh owens I have too, except for a stint recently where I honestly forgot about the channel bc for whatever reason, RU-vid turned off my notifications for this channel. I have no idea if he has a completion date in mind, but he does have a family and a new shop he’s building. So my advice, that I’m taking as well, is to find patience lol. His builds may take a while, but as evidence thus far, the quality far exceeds those that blaze through builds just for content and views. also, I was just giving you a hard time, as your comment could’ve been take either positively or negatively. All good though, just tossing a little jest your way. 👍
