This car is beyond beautiful.... The colors are perfect, the rims and tires are perfect... This car IS the quintessential Amarican Made Iconic HOT ROD.
My Model A pick-up has a straight axle in the rear also. Despite the design effort, to control suspension movement, with linkages, the tendency for the axle to attempt to rotate (in multiple directions) under extreme torque input, is inevitable. The result is uneven weight distribution during acceleration. One rear tire is pressed downward, increasing traction, while the opposite rear tire is lifted. 1960s Shelby Mustangs were equipped with straight rear axles, which were modified by locating the differential housing off-center, to compensate for torque. Thus, maintaining balanced traction during hard acceleration. The drawback, of course, was increased imbalance when downshifting, but was an acceptable compromise at the time. I will be considering a Jaguar rear conversion (with the inboard disc brakes) which effectively nullifies torque induced suspension misbehavior, and keeps the rear firmly planted, while your foot is firmly planted. 😎👍
nice color, one question...y do u guys cut so far up into the body for the rearend? i understand the look your going for...i am just sayin...the rear of the car raised a inch or two would b more my liking. who am i to say..i dont even own a model A.is that a cal. look on the west side sir?
heavy channel and no chop is an east coast style from back in the day, west coast was more no channel and a chop. So this is more a blend of both styles.
@@xmo552 3" chop, Frame is 5" sweep in the front, and 12" in the rear. The frame is really nice and mandrel bent and available from www.bolingbrothers.com
The intake, carbs, and 1980s velocity stacks ruin the entire car. If you're going to try and create a 60's style Hot Rod, learn your history, and do it right the first time.
This was never ever for a second built to be any kind of period correct car. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, a mandrel bent frame, aluminum headed sbc etc.. It was built by my friend that has wanted to build a model a for many many years. He built it exactly how he wanted to and he is more than happy with it. He could also give a fuck about what anyone else thinks about it.
