i think you should POTENTIALLY pick up a lady for a duke by alexis hall! it's a historical romance that's childhood best friends to lovers, and while yes there's a hidden identity plot, i would argue it fits into the exception from your popular romances video from a few days ago where you said you're more willing to forgive that plot if its more of a "the characters know each other from before in a different context and the hidden identity is justified within the story and written in a way where nobody's intentionally lying". it's SUPER angsty (i was genuinely actually crying) and its a recent historical romance that i think definitely avoided being formulaic. not sure how likely it is for you to see this but please PLEASE pick it up its literally so so good!!
Yes! I’ve been watching Lex Croucher’s videos for over a decade now. Although Reputation doesn’t really seem like my thing, I’m obviously rooting for Lex and it’s awesome that people are enjoying their work outside of RU-vid! I had assumed that readers would mostly be existing viewers of their channel and in this case it’s super cool to know I was wrong.
I rarely comment here but I have to say this, you talking about Part of Your World and your feelings about it is just like what I feel whenever I read a literature fiction, and as you mentioned, it’s not your typical genre, I think you should try reading literature fiction with some romance. great video as always ❤️
Yes! Part of Your World was a complete surprise for me too! 100% delightful from beginning to end! Would recommend Cate C Wells Stonecut County contemporaries: Hitting the Wall and Against a Wall. I loved both of these. Also have been seeing BK Borison’s Lovelight series getting a lot of hype (might just be the pretty covers?) but I haven’t seen any of my most trusted booktubers/bookstagrammers Reviewing them yet?
My 2022 5* romance book so far is The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary: enemies to lovers, "office" romance but definitely in a refreshing way. I really like the characters, flaws and all, and Kate Canterbary's writing is *chef's kiss*
Usually whenever any youtubers post videos and talk about books I've already read them all... This is the first time I'm hearing about so many new books.
It makes me so happy you enjoyed my favourite Judith McNaught book. I have been recommending it forever, but I haven't seen a lot of people read it yet. It also makes me happy and I hunted far and wide through many thrift shops for a copy of it back before it was reprinted.
Lex Croucher is one of my favorite creators - I've been following them since I around 2008, and I pre-ordered Reputation, and loved it. Cannot wait for the companion/sequel here in a few days.
Love this video! I am going to try 3 of the books you recommended. The Roughest Draft, Reputation, and Below Zero. Also plan to look at Part of Your World and My Killer Vacation. Thanks for doing this video! I’ve only had two 5 star reads so far this year. Pack Up the Moon by Kristan Higgins and The Witness by Nora Roberts. One newer release and one older that’s been on my shelf for several years. Both very different but very good stories.
Happy that I wasn't the only one that didn't like Reminders of him. I couldnt belive she only got 5 years for killing someone while drunk and high. She had sex with the boyfriend in his parents house the first time she met them. Then the parents just forgive everything because the best friend fell in love with her. Really just didn't work and wasn't believable.
I know you only talked about romances, but the sequel to Legendborn comes out in November. I read the first one on your recommendation and it's my most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

My fave books of the year so far have been Twice Shy (for Romance), Mother of Death and Dawn (for Romantic Fantasy, it’s part 3 in the War of Lost Hearts series), The Tea Dragon Society (for Graphic Novel) and Migrations (for Literary Fiction). Haven’t read a favorite new Thriller or Horror this year, so if anyone has some recs for those, holler. :)

A book that I really loved this year was Always Only You by Chloe Liese! I think I remember you not liking the first book in this series BUT I think if the plot sounds interesting to you totally give it a try!!! Plus it features a ginger so 😌👌🏼

OTOH, shoulda waited on you before I read Things We Never Got Over (I'm still pissed at those Amazon reviews, I felt gas lit!!).
