For anyone who finds the comparison between BTS and trainees to be a stark contrast and thinks he treats them so differently, please be aware that BTS has expectations from the world not just in the Kpop industry itself. He’s the controller of the all the dances, the positions, spacing, cues, music etc. He evaluates their performances and frankly without him, don’t even dream about having higher quality performances. Son seungdeuk can’t be everywhere with them to re-teach forgotten steps, so basically Hobi is the assistant, the one who leads the dance and briefs them before every performance. It’s because he picks out the errors with sharpness like any experienced dancer would and wants to show armies the best of BTS without mistakes. His passion radiates each time when dance is the topic, and if you find him intimidating wait till you see other Kpop choreographers and idol coaches. And if you know your Hobi well enough through many BTS social media vlives, bts runs and RU-vid videos, the vibe I still get from him is someone who will help teach, when he picks out a mistake it’s not harsh, his ways are more of calling it out to attention/ teasing/ pointing/ laughing at/ reminding. Where do I see intimidating when all BTS media is about Hobi laughing like hell, being silly, caring, affectionate, clueless. I mean the more sensitive maknae liners wouldn’t even go near him that much if he were that stern but on the contrary they love him to death. All the BTS videos you see are their real personalities, they don’t want to hide anything from our eyes hence what you see is what you get. So please don’t take a few random comments about his teaching from one or two of the members and start generalising him as a person. When something is your passion you don’t play around with it. People don’t get the difference between teaching trainees and bts and just view Hobi as a person who is scary and unforgiving of mistakes which doesn’t do him justice. He’s more than that and we should appreciate and support the right things instead of the wrong ones. And 1) these are trainees, he doesn’t know them at all so he can’t really teach them overly complex moves in the same fashion as BTS. 2) he’s in a foreign environment all by himself without his teammates and being an easily embarrassed person he keeps his personality subdued. 3) he knows nothing about who are the better or weaker dancers so everything was taught slowly and gently. 4) he doesn’t have to go into dance leader mode because he’s only teaching them for that one episode and they themselves have only one performance to showcase, so there’s basically minimal expectations unlike the numerous world tours and huge stages that BTS has. 5) he adores anyone more junior than him and it’s their first meeting . If you have any idea what he’s like, you should know that this guy can’t lie, is pure and is honest in everything. I’m just tired of all the comments about him being so stern, intimidating or microwaving knees etc. You missed the big picture by over focusing on details.
