A review of one of the amazing range of Pomoly heaters/stoves - the Ti Mini. I haven’t done a full review before, but I’m so taken by this little addition to my stove arsenal that I wanted to share it with you.

Or you check out the Whislux G1 stove when there are others competitors on the market that will have a great price.

I think both your side shelf/grill as well as your stove jack is brilliant. I have a silicone baking mat that I have bought for just that purpose. I have successfully made several homemade stove jacks. I like your stove shelf/grill and may "borrow" that concept to make one or several for myself. I have several stoves with side shelves and really like them and miss them when using stoves that do not have any. Thumbs up for sharing.

The cost is a barrier to many, but as in all things others will see a market in producing cheaper versions. I've been thinking about a home made affair using an old ammo box. It would be heavier but I would only be carrying it when using my trailer or velomobile.

I have this same stove and have to say that the wood time varies considerably due to many elements. If you have smaller or medium sized pieces of wood going at a good burn and create a good ember bed and then want to put a larger piece on for more duration, the transition time for it to light and get hot again can be quite great. We used this stove a couple of times after backpacking into remote areas in colder climates, rain and snow, and there really was no dry wood available, we had to find already downed wood that looked like it had been seasoned a bit and it still was a bit moist on the outside, we were able to make this work but this also affected our burn times and such. We only had access to pine and birch which aren't the densest of woods and on average for a good constant burn to keep up warm in near freezing conditions we were only able to get around a maximum of 30 min burn time. For me this was the biggest draw back as being in a hunting and foraging mode we are expending a lot of energy and wanting a good nights sleep. I do understand that it is a pretty small stove and burn times will be low, but my sleeping schedule was thrown off quite a bit having to tend the fire every 30 minutes or so. This can be different when you bring already seasoned high quality wood to your camp but in realistic backpacking situations i found the weight of my hot tent and wood stove would have been better spent in some 0 degree gear for sleeping a bit more comfortably. Anyone have a similar occurrence to this?

@felixcat9318
@felixcat9318 2 года назад
I really liked this stove, but I couldn't understand why they chose to make it out of 1mm thick titanium, which to my mind contradicted the purpose of an ultralight titanium tent stove, as the majority of such stoves then available were around 0.5mm to 0.6mm thick. I bought a Seek Outside Titanium Cub Stove, this is a collapsible, solid panel box stove with a titanium foil roll up stovepipe. I ordered the cooktop of the Cub U-Turn Stove because I wanted the smaller 2.5 inch diameter stovepipe aperture it had in place of the 3.125 inch diameter pipe the stove was originally specified to take (as I felt that the original diameter was far too large for the firebox size). The 9 foot titanium foil stovepipe and the Cub Stove weigh in just under 2 pounds complete (1.96lbs). I have since added a 0.5mm thick titanium expanded mesh grate, but I haven't weighed that yet. Having disabling injuries means that I cannot carry a backpack and so I use a bicycle to carry everything (including me) and that's why I became so focused on the weight of everything I take with me (including the bicycle). As a Brit, I arrived late to the tent stove 'party', it being a mostly US and Nordic countries based activity as far as I could tell. As the weight of the tent stoves got lighter due to the widespread use of titanium sheet and foil I grew more interested, despite the truly eye watering costs to buy and import one. When I finally realised that any titanium tent stove I bought would outlive me, I treated myself to one (through gritted teeth!). A tent stove (and tent, obviously), together with an Alpacka Raft Packraft and a compact folding bicycle make for a very capable and comfortable escape kit.

Thank you for an honest review. I really liked the cook top setup you added! I'm considering this stove to pair with the Nortent Gamme 4... any thoughts on this setup? Or should I consider the T1 FLAME (big brother to the T1 Mini) as a stove with that tent?
@RichardOutdoors
@RichardOutdoors 3 года назад
Hi Brian. Game 4 new to me so haven’t any experience with it. As long as designed for hot tenting, you’ll be away. I really can’t think why I’d need anything bigger than the mini as I was warm as toast in the One Tigris! ATB.

Actually, my wife and me were at the ends with son in middle. The rolling errors usually begin at the ends so stuck the adults there! 👍

Hi Richard, the stove looks good however the flue would really worry me. Carbon Monoxide is a killer, so would much prefer a flue that is tubular and interlocking. Either way a carbon Monoxide alarm would be a must.

Great video! Which Pomoly stove would you get for solo 1-2 overnighters in the new Pomoly Stovehut 70 tent? I'm pretty sure that I want the folding option. So the T1 line and not the bit lighter Timber line. Which also excludes the bit heavier brick line. For the window decision, I think I would like at least one side window. So, which T1 would you get? - T1 mini 3 with 3 windows, 10l chamber, 30,5 cm long, 2,65kg, $509 - T1 perspective, 3 windows, 15l chamber, 38cm long, 3,9kg, $505 - T1 ultra, 2 windows, 20l chamber, 3,6kg, 44cm long, $575 So basically do I want a 1kg lighter mini or a bit bigger perspective or even ultra where I can put in longer woods. Cooking area I don't need so much. Also, not the side shelves, though I'm not entirely sure about that :) And I'm thinking about taking my ebike for traveling, so I don't have to carry everything while still being limited in total capacity.
@RichardOutdoors
