On the bench today is a Hot Wheels Rolls Royce Silver Shadow from its one year only release date of 1969. This one was gifted to me by Paul at Diecast Graveyard. It has a metal base, and it’s a redline. This is a salvage job, as it's in pretty rough shape, but it’s still a little piece of history. It’s my entry for this year’s National Redline Day, co-sponsored by The Three Blind Mice and the Four Horsemen.
According to Hot Wheels wiki, The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is a 1:64 representation of the real car of the same name, designed by Ira Gilford. It features an opening hood which exposes the engine. All were made in Hong Kong and as a result all have blue tinted glass. They were produced in nearly every spectraflame colour and the interiors came in white, champagne, brown or dark brown. Most models have capped wheels, but although uncommon, they have been found with bearing wheels. The model were packaged with a metal 'Collector's Button'. The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow was never reissued after it's 1969 release.
The Silver Shadow is a full-sized luxury car produced by British automaker Rolls-Royce from 1965 to 1976, and the Silver Shadow II from 1977 to 1980. To date, the combined model run has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce.
This ’69 version had a 172 hp 6.2 L V8, which was upgraded to a 189 hp 6.75 L V8 for the 1970 to 1980 production run.

All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.
