I've gotten myself the Tomica version, and it is a treat! Yes, the price range is a bit expensive, but comparing to find the R34 Hotwheels for a good price or while hunting is very rare. People are reselling the R34 for prices upwards of RM100, quite hard to find a cheap one. Plus, Tomica nailed the looks of the bodykit and wheels, so that's a win. But still Hotwheels did a better job on the paint.
I feel like for the money of both of these for a single 1/64 car, we collectors deserve another diecast option that would get it right. I appreciate all your hard work and that you mentioned how much time and effort you put in to this puts it into perspective. To add to the Tomica attention to detail you pointed out with the tow hook on the front, it looks more like a tow ball for a tow hitch package that belongs on the back of a car, more likely to see on a truck or suv hauling a trailer. Learned a ton about Tomica that only recently received my 1st few diecasts as I mentioned in a previous chat to checkout myself. Keep up the good work!
With the release of this fantastic version of the 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline, you ought to do a comparison of Dom's '69 Dodge Charger R/T from the same Tomica Premium Unlimited line against other versions.
Just the fact that the Tomica version has the proper body kit and a more accurate wing makes me prefer it over the Hot Wheels version. Could just swap the wheels and add water slides for the plate and sponsors, repaint the headlights and it'll be perfect
Love the review - you go into great detail with your research. Gotta be the Tomica for me, I don't like the eyes fron lights but the interior 3 cylinders...damn. Best detail in Tomica.
Great comparison!!! Turns out that the hot wheels one is more expensive now unfortunately so I decided to go with Tomica's diecast. Helped me a lot! ❤❤❤
Got myself the Tomica version just last week and I gotta say it looks awesome. Sure I would also want the Hot Wheels version too but here in Singapore good luck on getting that. Besides the Tomica version sold out quickly so it was a good thing I bought it before that happened.
The slight ridges on the Tomica tires make it perfect for die-cast racing. Rubber tires feel nice, but drain speed if you are racing the cars. I think Tomica built this so that it could attempt to dethrone Hot Wheels as fast racers.
In my opinion I think Tomica set it apart with the body kit opening doors and interior. The price isn’t bad at all for that close to detail. Hot wheels looks good but it’s just a different skyline with the same paint job.
Not sure if you notice this but aside from the correct interior design, the tomica version also got the correct bodykit (which you haven't mentioned in your review.) The only thing hot wheels got it correctly was the stripes and the decals. Those stripes was really supposed to look fading on the front end.
yes, the bodykit is the keypoint for the comparison between this two. To those who doesn't notice it yet, Brian's skyline is using a C-West bodykit and GT wing, while Skyline R34 by HW is a Nismo bodykit version, which is why the Hot wheels version is not accurate in terms of bodykit type that they are using. But price still skyrocketing in the reseller market, lol. As per the date of my comment here, only two brand that produce Brian Skyline R34 with correct bodykit, Tomica and another one is the old (might be extinct already) ERCL / Racing Champions brand.
The only thing missing on Tomica Unlimited version of the 2 Fast and 2 Furious Skyline is the lack of detail on decals which is a greddy, west, sparco, etc decals on hood if they want to make it accurate of the movie car, maybe because of license issue just like the Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline R30 Super Silhoulette where Matel can't put the Tomica decals on there product because it's Tomica. But in any case i think Tomica mostly nailed it in tems of accuracy because of the Body kits which is the actual Velside body kits and th enkie wheels rather than Reskin of Skyline like the Hot Wheels always do all there Fast and Furious Skiline is just reskin not doing something more attention to detail when it comes to actual bodykits and wheels. (Edit: Correction the bodykit was C-West)
I've also noticed that the dimensions of the Tomica casting have been improved for the TPU version. Some of these little changes I've noticed are the rear bumper and taillights being a bit smaller as well as the front bumper being more pronounced.
However i think the opening door is unecesary for me which is basically add more on the tooling cost while also make it not so right when it came for quality but maybe that's a signiture on Tomica where all there toys have opening doors or hood. It's very difficult to make a 1:64 scale so accurate with a opening door and hood in terms of manufacturing. Without the door opening would make the Cars quality even better and easier to make like per exsample the Tarmac Works it dosen't have complicated door opening but the attention to detail and quality is just perfect. That's why there's base line model is far more expensive than Hot wheels Base line model like it cost php 200.00 to Php 300.00 vs Hot wheels Php 120.00
I think the compromise in quality for the implementation of opening doors isn't that bad, if at all in my opinion. If anything, it makes the interior more easily appreciable.
I think overall I have to give it to the hot wheels ,I know its not accurate but I prefer the fading stripes the hot wheels has more details of decals and the better texture but I do give Tomica credit for Suspension and opening doors.
I would say in this one Tomica be the one I'll pick as the HotWheels yes might have small details extra but is all put on a R34 Z-tune casting hence the hood and kit not matching the one in the movie. seems to be a thing with most of the non-premium cars from HW that they would re-use casting over and over with no modification
If I picked without knowing first, I'd be biased for Hot Wheels, since where I live, there are almost no Tomica available. The ones that are available are standard models, specifically Burger truck, food truck, overtly pink Jeep, blue boring Nissan, and maybe one or two cars that are neither of those. Yeah, where I live in America, Tomica doesn't really exist. Great comparison though!
i would have to take the Hot-Wheels one over the tomica, but damn i love the interior of the tomica one. i love defintely love the new editing drifter, just makes the video fell so much more quality!. keep it up drifter🙌💯
I think the spoiler on the tomica version ruins the look of the car which is weird cause it had the right body kit, the hot wheels bonnet/hood is the z tune hood which I personally like, I know it’s not accurate but it looks bad ass and the wheels on the hot wheels look way better
The 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R is a major car driven by Brian O'Conner in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Engine: 2.6L RB26DETT twin turbo l6 Body Mods: C-West/Motorex/Sunline Racing b... Wheels: HRE 446 Body Style: 2-door coupe like for more car specs
After look at your ig story telling it's hard to edit the vid i 'Come brother' and look at the vid...wow ic why it is hard when someone keep asking to make a new vid and it is tired actually..respect broo
You are actually wrong about the stripes. They do fade to the front on the original car, but maybe not as much as the hot wheels model. Later edit: Tomica's car has the correct body, including the details on the back. The Hot Wheels car is inspired by a replica of the 2F2F car, but with a different body kit.
The Tomica version has some great details and quality, but the Hot Wheels version displays so much better. The Tomica looks a little awkward to me. Plus, I got the Hot wheels one for $5.00, so they win this comparison for me.
Hot wheels имеет какой то слишком серебряный цвет, но сама машина явно больше похожа на skyline r34. Но вот что томика стоит 16$, это меня удивило сильно. Я думал от силы 5$ будет стоить
if you appreciate cool interior with nos at the passenger seat pick tomica no questions asked. but if you care abt details then hot wheels is the better choice.
4:11 The spoiler on the actual car is blue. As can be seen in some shots from the movie as well. Even the image you showed there of the real car is of a blue spoiler. Tomica got it right.
Bruh how hotwheel take the cake tomica is smooth and I like the spoiler bc it matches in irl like the real gtr it has a opening door and i like that I like cars with opening door but if car toy can't open the door it's ok, tomica is better bc it's smooth than hotwheel and you can't change that🥱🥱
I've passed on a lot of Tomica cars at Walmart because they all look kinda goofy. I know I can do wheel swaps, but my issue is the body itself. To me, they look like cheap cars with really good details, if that makes sense. Meaning, they skipped out on the body (bad door gaps) but gave some really nice details (like the front end).
I think, hot wheels just re-using its r34 z-tune. Cause the hood, the front n rear bumper, is from skyline z-tune. While tomica stay true too the source, molding it like its c-west body kit.
its about the accuracy, its not about what logo on the back it has. the car in the movie didnt have a gtr logo on the back. they both failed with livery because both has problems. i dare say tomica is more accurate with the movie looks. deal with it.
Well considering the hotwheel is 6 dollars cheaper and doesn't have a hideously repulsive doorgap, I'd say HW wins this one. And yeah the Tomica does have the NoS bottles but they aren't even the right color.
just to mention. you forgot to mention the interior of the car with has more accurate deital with the 3 tank NOs while the hot wheels only have the generic interior. and the availability between tomica and hot wheels. hot wheels is far more rare and hard to find than tomica. I already have both hotwheels regular release and premium release and tomica dream Version. i find the tomica dream version far more accurate and I agree with you about the wheels. they should have created a far more better wheels like the one they did on Initial D trueno AE86. they didn't use their regular wheels on that car.
