"Over the centuries, House Targaryen has produced both great men and monsters. Prince Daemon was both. In his day there was not a man so admired, so beloved, and so reviled in all Westeros. He was made of light and darkness in equal parts. To some he was a hero, to others the blackest of villains." Daemon Targaryen - The Dragon
@@Teadrinker-zy1ypcharacter assassination you mean? This completely ruined his character pretty much, they only salvaged it a little in the end. Worst part of the season.
Agreed. If there wasn’t a pay off for his character development, then I’d be complaining. People need to remember, the later seasons of GoT started to suck, because it was literally non stop action with zero pacing for character set up.
I only saw on the 2nd viewing with Cc that Daemon immediately says "traitor" to the lord who is confirming his allegiance to Daemon's cause. Not a second of hesitation, and that was before his vision.
All hail, prince deamon targaryen The demon dragon The man who slaughtered the triarchy Rider of the blood worm Prince of Dragonstone And husband to the queen
If Viserys would have made him his heir or marry Rhaenyra to him sooner..... The dance of the dragon would never took place..And House Targaryen would have ruled for many many more years....
He had the biggest character development, maybe people didn't realize that yet, but in season 3 the result of the whole journey in this season will be more and more visible. Thanks for this tribute. Incredible.
He had a circular character "arc" which was boring, unnecessary and out of character. We have already established that he does want the crown in S1. That GoT tie-in was NOT IT.
@@masha22092000r it was necessary cause Daemon hided his true intentions and emotions in S1. S2 expose the truth behind Daemon's actions in S1 and it's all about his brother. His reasons, his motivation, his grief, his acceptance, the prophecy he's capable to see. Everything about Viserys.
Daemon talked shit constantly and gave everyone around him shit (despite being a good brother, he was also terrible husband) then was suprised when everyone's opinion of him was shit. Dude had a lot of emotional issues, but he did love his brother and knew how to fight. Where Rhaenyra failed at being dramatic and fearsome, Daemon died the most gloriously epic death in Westerosi history. So badass was his end above the Gods' Eye that even the Warrior wished he could mortal just to see if he could find a more awesome manner to end.
Because they nerfed him. Season 1 daemon would’ve had his season 2 arc done in a week at most - probably wouldnt have stayed at Harrenhal to be brainwashed.
@@InfinitePublics but season 1 daemon is the same as season 2? Daemon was loosing the war in the stepstons in season 1 for 3 YEARS with two dragons and in the book he didnt even win the war of the stepstones. I never understood why people say daemon is a great military commander and a leader of men when he has aways been awful with leading.
@@jjosifoviche isn’t though. At all. You really think the same daemon so quick to violence in season 1 would’ve sat around doing nothing like season 2 daemon? That’s just if your thinking the worst of daemon which shows how unrealistic season 2 vs 1 daemon is. As to stepstones - it’s him with hundreds of volunteers from city watch and thousands of Corlys men as the rest of the kingdoms and the king himself offer them zero support. Their enemy is entrenched in easily used choke points mostly underground on a string of islands they can afford to keep retreating thru giving ground and bleeding their attackers. They had men from Dorne and thousands from the Triarchy with likely more ships and definitely better logistics and support from afar. All these factors and you’re surprised it too years for daemon and team to win? They were setup to lose, so the way the show had them was great, actually realistic forcing a climactic battle by baiting the enemy out of their strong defenses they couldn’t get past. As a military leader daemon excels and why people like him for that is he leads from the front and does the work with his men - IE the using himself as bait. That is something valued in leaders along with his support for his men, it’s why the city watch is still loyal to him years after he’s been gone from Kingslanding. He is not a peacemaker politician which is the one thing they got right in season 2 for him, but he is a warrior and the kind of leader men would follow into combat.
@@InfinitePublics The daemon from season 1 is is the same daemon from season 2,.......daemon takes forever to do anything. Mind the fact that Daemon through season 1 is like 20 year timeline while season 2 is a couple of months. Daemon inspires nothing he got the gold cloaks because he founded them n he then gave them all power that is y he got loyalty. N don’t get me started on that “brilliant” military move where daemon outrun hundreds of arrows and faked a surrender to win the stepsons. Again daemon didn’t win the war in the step stones in the books. Daemon is a warrior and a great dragon rider but that is it. He is not a great military genius or strategist. He commands armies because he got a dragon n in the show and books he only gets armies because people stand by their oaths for rhaenyra. Without any previous oaths daemon is a man who has no loyal soldiers other than the gold cloaks to which he gives ultimate power to. Daemon is not a leader of men n he never has been.
