Came for the shave, paused halfway through to fall down the Cecil Hotel rabbit hole. It's now 45 minutes later, and I'm finally getting to the other half of the shave.
You look like a fun dude to have a beer with and talk old cars. Used to do that with my dad. We did Fords mostly, one at a time, a couple years each. It was the best time in the world for me.

I lived in downtown LA for several years (corner of 3rd/Figueroa) and worked at 300 N. Los Angeles St for about 10 yrs...very familiar with that area. Great shave, Ken!
Ken💈💈 Cool shave leading up to Halloween. The Cecil Hotel is somewhat news to me, interesting place. I did visit the hotel used as the setting for the Stephen King movie "The Shining" though. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. A spooky place for sure and purportedly haunted. I saw no ghost nor heard any strange things luckily. Nicely done video again. Enjoy!
This scent is so amazingly classic barbershop that as soon as i smelled the sample sent with another order, i had to get the aftershave star jelly and the CK-6 soap! Its awesome! And i got the clown fruit cube and soap, i didnt wanna miss out

Great shave. Hotel Cecil has also been thought to be the last place Black Dahlia went before being murdered. It was recently the death site of a woman who disappeared and died from drowning under mysterious circumstances. Put that aside, I decided to continue the tradition of doing No Shave November. I’m worried that my safety razor skills might become rusty from not shaving for a whole month, but let’s hope that skill doesn’t diminish
Great shave and great story behind Hotel Cecil, I will certainly be doing some reading on that in a bit. I notice when you have the goatee you still lather over it, do you do that to wash/clean the facial hair?

There's a British, military owned company (www.dirtysoap.co.uk) sells that brush. Also on Instagram. They have a superb soap and post shave balm and also sell beard balm and amazing bath soaps, some which have the much admired Aventus scent. The Tower of Terror at Disney World is still the Tower of Terror. My wife and I went on it on our honeymoon. Once was enough...you actually experience zero G on that ride for a fleeting moment. It took me years before I decided to try the version at California Adventure.
I live in a neighbor that went from "Good" to "Shady". Point being, I wouldn't have a problem camping out in this hotel to conduct a Paranormal Investigation. ;-)
The artwork on Hotel Cecil reminds of a Alfred Hitchcock movie like Vertigo or Rear Window which are cool.I have a set coming.😊I am going to shave with the El Fantasma and Will O' the Wisp. Ken, why is there a wilkinson sword classic and then a gillette wilkinson sword? As far as I know Wilkinson Sword is owned by Schicks parent company. So how is Gillette involved? Always been curious.
I am not sure about the history that resulted in these two different brands. The Wilkinson Sword razor blades were originally a UK firm. They are currently manufactured in Germany. The Gillette Wilkinson blades are made in India and China. AFAIK, the Indian mfg blades only come in 50 packs. Apparently, it is cheaper to make blades in China for sale in India.
Not sure but that is lead crystal may not be good to be soaking brushes then using on your face. Lead can leach out then you would be applying to face and I know you know lead is known to cause cancer. Just throwing that out there since I know you have a lot of precancerous burned off the face. Take care. Oh and I'm curious about that fox hunt scuttle. Did it come in and what you think of it. I had in my cart and for some reason I came to youtube and watched your video with the fox hunt brush and I just had to give you first dibs since it looked like the match to your set.

Great vibes with this video, Ken! Between the last two soaps you tested (Apple Farm & Hotel Cecil), which one was slicker? Or, which one performed better? I’m ready to try something new!
The lather is behaving gummy. We can see this. Check the ingredients list and see if any might be causing or allowing that. If you believe that gumminess is interfering with the shave (probably did not), you might try adding more water next time. The only time I had a gummy material trailing from a razor during a shave, it was one of those lubrication strips on a cheap disposable razor.
@@DouglasSmythe Maybe so. I just tried this razor, now two days ago. I did feel some of that stringy stuff coming from the lub strip, and I did for SURE, have a very wet lather. The wet wet lather did not stop that gummy trailing from the lube strip, but at least the whisker hairs were more hydrated.
For the month of November, I’m not going to shave the side of my face for the whole month. When I shave again in December since I’m going to a holiday concert at my former high school because it’s a tradition. I’m going to the concert because I’m a alumni at my high school. Do you think I should go? I’m going to use the ristretto razor with a feather blade.

There is a seller by the name of Ibrahim (wound post the whole name, as I don’t know the policies in that) on Etsy that sells them. An inexpensive brush, but a cool handle. And Douglas needs to slow his roll.. I can’t afford all these great scents!
I have no reference point for the Burma Shave scent. Does it smell like an old man? Does it smell like anything contemporary? Be careful out there. I hear there is rioting and looting going on in downtown LA. Sore winners, I guess.
