For our week-long trip to Barcelona we chose the Hotel H10 Casa Mimosa. The 4-star superior hotel is located in the Eixample district in a listed building in the style of Catalan Modernisme from the 19th century. It is on the same block as Antoni Gaudi's famous Casa Mila (La Pedrera). The building was carefully modernized and the original elements were preserved as far as possible. There is still the original elevator, although it is no longer in use. The rooms are modern and comfortably furnished, but have retained the charm of the past thanks to their decoration with black and white photos of the original house. The hotel opened in 2016 and was designed by Tarruella Trenchs Studio.
We really liked this:
- The location of the hotel is very central. The Diagonal metro station is very close and Casa Mila is around the corner. There are also many restaurants in the area.
- From the rooms facing the inner courtyard you have a beautiful view of the extraordinary roof landscape of Casa Mila. These rooms are also very quiet. Despite the central location, you can't hear any street noise even with the windows open. We slept very well.
- The atmospheric courtyard is a haven of tranquility in Barcelona. Here you will find Mediterranean vegetation such as a century-old palm tree, linden trees and the mimosa that gave the hotel its name. The pool with sun loungers is a wonderful place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- From the roof terrace of the hotel you have a fantastic view of Casa Mila. You can enjoy this with a cocktail from the bar. There is also a small pool on the roof terrace.
- Service is warm and efficient. You will be greeted upon arrival with a glass of cava (there is also water or juice).
- There were sweets both as a welcome and as a farewell. Our stay was over the Sant Jordi holiday and, in keeping with tradition, we were given a rose.
We didn't like this much:
- The price/performance ratio of the restaurant could be better. The food is good but quite expensive. In the restaurants in the area you can eat just as well, but for less.
- The key card system appears to be very sensitive. We had several problems at the beginning.
- The breakfast buffet is not particularly extensive, as is typical for the country, but the warm breakfast dishes served were extremely tasty.
Our conclusion: The hotel was a good choice and is definitely recommended. In a top location, it offers all the comfort of a 4* hotel with the charm of a historic building.
