Your story is a prime example of why those of us in LEGITIMATE African traditional religions don't invite outsiders, and are forbidden from doing so. I practice a very ancient tradition that goes back thousands of years (not this new Hotepery stuff), and if we invited randoms off the block, this would be the reaction. We do NOT recruit. If you are called by our deities, you will find us, otherwise, it's a "no" upon entry. Let the normal people live a normal, basic life and leave them alone. That's what these "Hoteps" need to realize, and stop being like Christians trying to recruit and save everybody, because everyone doesn't want or need your "saving".
I don't have an issue with traditional African or any other religions when they allow you to discover and convert with consent. I do take issue with grooming and manipulation
@VisionPoet I hear you. This was definitely that. Any religion that has a priest or priestess telling their folks to fuck an outsider upon entry for recruitment purposes, because they said so, is a joke. No legitimate African tradition that I know of operates like that.

I’ve heard the term but never really looked into it. And, I don’t know why I got your video (tho I am in the midst of a dilemma,) so I googled it and found this article below. So painful. Any yes, so many of us have been trained to believe we need a leader or something or someone to worship. Meanwhile, it’s all inside of us. For example, like Jesus, I’m not a Christian. I do however admire how he lived and do my work to live accordingly. Same with Buddhism. There are countless amazing teachings from the Buddha, none of them include worshiping him. I’ve gained so much from his teachings, so much from Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, Don Miguel Ruiz, the list is endless. With much gratitude, I’m interested in learning to practice what they teach and bring my own wisdom about self love, empathy, compassion, justice, equity and more into my life experience and those around me. I don’t think any of those listed above want to be worshipped! They were working for their freedom and ours! The Creator, whatever you want to call it, like Prince and many others have said; we are all made of ✨ stars 🌟 We can all bring love and light into this world experience. @@VisionPoet Yeah. Sorry for not being clear. I just grew up around a lot of women, and some men, who were duped into cults and marrying the wrong people. Everything that you mentioned just felt incredibly familiar and sad. There was always some cult leader exercising authority over the other person's life and abusing them. Such mistreatment included but was not limited to financial and sexual abuse too. Witnessing such bad behavior is incredibly disheartening because you can see that the abused person is tolerating the mistreatment because they are desperate to belong to something. Many times, they come from abusive homes too. As a male child, I had the unpleasant experience of being "claimed." My mom ran interference a lot because we weren't dealing with this crap voluntarily, but it is a horrible feeling when an adult woman has decided to claim you for her daughter, regardless of how you feel. Furthermore, the idea that certain people are destined to be with others is an incredibly damaging belief that I just got free from in my early 30s. These same women were often in at best loveless marriages and at worse they were married to psychopaths. It was horrible. It's heavy, but you did a good job man. PS: At least you have memories of the...well...the booty.

@@VisionPoet Right! I was doing stuff I would never do. What threw me off was them speaking Nigerian English and I didn’t know what they were saying. I felt so lost, but shorties body was banging. Not to mention there were seasoned women there looking to get devoured. All the women had the scarf wrapped around their head with long wrap scarf around the waist. Remember sitting on the floor with the toes out and booty looking amazing. Now You know how they rope you in by asking some kind of sexual question, then everybody starts chiming in with the ‘well I do this and this”, while gazing in your eyes and eating some kind of fruit that I wouldn’t eat at the time (I’m from bedstuy Brooklyn, so at that time I was only eating fruit like apples, oranges, grapes and stuff. I was locked in going for the ride. Until I woke the fck up.
