Hotwiring an iPad to recover photos  

This is what happens when you forget to turn on iCloud backup. The charging port on this iPad that was my mother‘s broke and the iPad was unable to recharge. She thought she had lost six years worth of photos, but I was able to use a heat gun to loosen the glue and remove the front glass to gain access to the power connector. The iPad would only stay powered on for about 4 1/2 minutes at a time because it could not sense the battery state of charge. However, after many reboots, I was able to airdrop lots of 300 pictures and recover almost 10,000 pictures and videos in all.
