This doc was by far the best video in this channel. Covered everything in segments and in an orderly manner, all I can say is thanks for your time and thanks for the service to our people. I'll love to understand what's a typical week ( how many calls in a week , how many day/s off . Are there any weekends off and things like Annual leave. ) Overall I'm inspired and really enjoy every content of this channel.

Thanks 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 So basically around the 20th of every month everyone in the department will sit and draw up a roster of the days they're requesting to be on call on. Obviously there's compromising, arguing etc. Some dept will ask you to send days which you're not available for (either because of annual leave or social matters) then whoever is drawing up the call roster will put you into available slots etc. You choose how to structure calls spacing or days. As an intern I finished my calls in the first 10days so the are hectic and back to back but at least you are done for the month so you choose. When annual leave is more than 2 weeks, you are allowed to do less calls, literally the ones you can fit in. Ps some departments don't consider anything other than annual leave. They also put you wherever they choose unfortunately.

So basically Doc when you on call you are a "all in one Dr" whatever comes your way(ER,OR, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Anaesthetic, Radiology and and ....)on call you gotta deal or do they have relevant Doctors placed on call for each department?
@DrAnn_Healthhub
@DrAnn_Healthhub 24 дня назад
It depends on the hospital. The bigger ones arr split into the various dept and you only deal the the specialty you're working for. In smaller hospitals, you'll cover more and might need to know and be good at everything.

Do you guys get given sirens for when you get stuck in traffic? What happens if you get stuck in traffic? Is it contractually required to have a car or live close by? Do doctors ever just delegate to someone else who's less skilled and guide them over a call?

How many points and levels needed to become Otolaryngologists Doctor
@DrAnn_Healthhub
@DrAnn_Healthhub Год назад
So you need to get into medicine first then specialise later. Check out the prospectus in the different universities for the requirements to get into medicine 🤗
@BrandonScheepers

Ay 😂 it’s tough out here. Which hospitals would you recommend? I’m already tired haha
@DrAnn_Healthhub
@DrAnn_Healthhub Год назад
Eish it really depends on your goals. Alot of people will try stay as close to university circuit hospitals as they can so as to specialize early or faster. I still am a believer of regional hospitals 🤣 they offer independence and there's some supervision and you can still study so they're not a complete waste of time🤣. They're also not as busy both in cities and rural areas. Rural because of the money 💰 You can look up some regional hospitals in different provinces and call HR dept or ask people who've worked in them

Hey doctor Is general surgery a specialty or once you have the degree you can perform surgeries??
@DrAnn_Healthhub
@DrAnn_Healthhub Год назад
You operate from the level of internship. You don't need to be specialist to perform operations. In public You can be a medical officer in the surgery department and operate. Specialty is only a requirement in private sector
