Lying to her isn’t really unexpected but I wish he was honest instead like previous seasons. Like in 4x14 he was like ‘there is nothing I can do,give me 3 minutes and call the police’. Is more about trust. He can say to her his plan and do it anyway,she will try to stop him regardless so that he doesn’t get in trouble but at least both are honest.
His lie to her saved a persons life, him telling her (which he initially did) the truth, she says her hands are tied, which would lead to the patient dying. HTF was him lying the “wrong thing to do?”
Objectively its not. Situationally, it's still a betrayal to her. Which, she should've expected, knowing house as well as she did, but most of their relationship can be summed up by her expecting him to change, and him staying the same. Never go into a relationship with the expectation of your partner changing for your sake
@@agentchaos9332 I don't think she expected him to change though. Or at least pre-season 7 Cuddy wouldn't expect it but then writers just had to add artifical drama. For me that was an issue because Cuddy was too smart and also cynical to an extent to expect anything of House. It didn't fit her character (imo) for her to keep pushing him about apology because she knew him and how their working relationship were, I mean she's not a naive 20-year-old afterall... I also don't think he really stayed the same all the way though because he did compromise here and there.
@@BlackChapters to me personally it just didnt. I understand that others may not have felt the same way and i know there was specific reasons they did quit, but i still wish it could have went a little longer.
It’s so dumb to have broken them up, which David shore seems to regret now..House was at his happiest when dating her and was fully in love and they have known each other since Uni..she made him better and he made her happy, he was okay with apologising because he loved her that much and didn’t view it as a chore. they’re each other’s longest friend and I refuse to acknowledge that ending.
I think it was because they had a suspension that season 8 was the last so they wrote a realistic story then try to make the audience happy which is a shame cuz Gray's Anatomy is on like season 19
@@thunderlighting2006 i know why, yeah as you said David shore doesn’t believe in House does happy endings but it seems like he hasn’t stuck to his decision fully low-key as now he says they probably would’ve gotten back together had Lisa not left, which I think is a way to pacify the many people who stopped watching in s8 when she left…it’s so clear he just wanted House to be miserable and unhappy and while I love the ending that he puts Wilson above everything. To ruin Cuddy not just for House but her character for the show and she was also one of Wilson’s closest friends..it’s just insane. The entire of s8 leaves a bitter taste in my mouth except the end and even when it was airing people felt unsatisfied by the last season. They shouldn’t have stuck to that mantra of house needs to be miserable I believe

He wanted relationships and affection..he even has a dialogue “I like being alone…at least I’ve CONVINCED myself I’m better off that way” he doesn’t think he’s worthy of being happy but he does want someone and someone he can be happy and carefree with
Let's be honest, House isn't boyfriend/husband material. His "bottom line" mindset would just never work in a romantic relationship. These two always had chemistry and them getting together was pretty much inevitable, as was them breaking up. I just wish the break up wasn't so destructive. House is crazy, but the season 7 finale always struck me as severely out of character. The show refocusing on House's relationship with Wilson was a good choice. His romance with Cuddy, however, was always just a house of cards. I always envisioned the tension between them getting so intense that they sit down and really discuss the possibilities of a future together, only for them to realize that Cuddy's single minded focus on being a successful woman in a male dominated industry and House's nihilistic cynicism and addictive tendencies meant that neither could afford the same dedication to an actual relationship - that the two would bond and find an even deeper connection with one another over _not_ being in a romance, or even capable of a romance. A weird "we're both broken on the inside" kind of kinship, wherein they both mutually accept that not only would they not work with each other - they wouldn't work with anyone. I don't know. Pretty much everyone in this show, at some point, had to face an ultimatum of "being the best" versus "being happy." The one's who left the team chose happiness and personal fulfillment (Cameron, Thirteen, Stacy) whilst the ones who stayed chose professional fulfillment (Chase, Taub, Foreman). I think it would've been an incredible display of dramatic irony, in the end, if it was House - the man who valued truth and realism above all else - gave up his career to take care of Wilson during his final days, whilst Cuddy - the one with idealistic dreams of being a mother - chose to continue her career as Dean instead. But maybe I'm overthinking it. I just love this show too much.
I like your ending, I think that would have been good for the show too. But House did have his 'being the best' vs 'choosing happiness' moment when he was with Cuddy. He misses Cuddy's award ceremony because his patient dies. He turns up at her house after and tells her that being in love with her makes him a worse doctor and patients are gonna die but she's worth it for him. I think he literally says he chooses being happy with her because she's more important than anything else. I remember this scene because I thought gosh I'm gonna be devastated if they breakup after this ! And then they did😅. Also I think the main reason Cuddy broke up with House was because of Rachel.
This could've been a pivotal moment where House began to change, at least a little bit. But tbh the events that actually unfold are more realistic for someone as stubborn and broken as House.
THIS was not about him changing, this was him lying (he admitted it later to Wilson). And him crashing into her home was nothing but realistic... Him getting high on vicodine when she needed him was though.
I never understood Cuddy in this relationship. I could see her having a lustful infatuation and even a one night stand. But she's way too intelligent and knows House too well to have ever attempted a serious relationship with him. He's pridefully selfish, doesn't like kids, there is no one he doesn't see as someone to be used or manipulated.

This was HOUSE at his absolute worst. He never did anything for another person that didn't serve him. He hurt Cuddy on a deep level. He never treated her well. It was sad. I missed her a lot in the last season. Foreman sucked.

why did Lisa Edelstein not work the last season?? I watched every episode of house so im not asking what happened on the show.....Does anyone know if it was her decision to quit the show? or did the producers decide that on the script. It just seemed so fucked up how things ended in the show
The real reason was because her pay was cut for the final season, originally every single persons pay was cut to make the final season, however not only was her pay cut, they cut her proposed screentime as well,they then also gave a raise to Olivia Wilde to get her back for four episodes because she was a growing name in Hollywood by then and also a raise to Robert Sean Leonard. She clearly didn’t want to stay for what would be a very diminished role, even though previously she was a series regular. David shore has said he really regrets not having Lisa in the final and sorting out something else for her character and House

This scenes are the reason i stopped watching house md. House is heartless and only cares about proving a point, destroying and hurting everyone along the way involved just to get what he wants. Its really soulless and immature i couldn't bare it anymore.
NGL I couldn't disagree more. He changed so much for Cuddy. The whole point of this episode is him changing... He starts out wanting to prove his point. He proves his point but realises that's not what its about - he wants Cuddy to be happy - so he takes the blame and apologises ( even tho he already proved his point).
I feel crazy watching this and reading the comments. All I see here is a complete lack of romantic chemistry and an awkward forcing of a relationship. None of this feels like a relationship and if it is, it's extremely toxic and kinda uncomfortable to watch. Then again, most of Season 7 was uncomfortable to watch because of this. CuddyxHouse was a mistake and it boggles my mind to this day that so many people not only support this relationship, but think it should of continued to the end of the series.
They had amazing chemistry..I guess that’s subjective, no one can force you to see it from another persons lense but their chemistry, romantically was just so strong between the two actors,that they changed the course of the script, one that literally was going to go forward with House and Cameron. David shore changed it to House and Cuddy because of Hugh and Lisa’s chemistry…it’s amazing, he said they always had odd sexual tension and it didn’t matter what they wrote It doesn’t feel like a typical romantic relationship because A) she’s mad at him in this scene, B) neither of them are normal people. They do not have a normal relationship, they have one that’s very complicated but that worked for both of them. They’ve known each other since they were at university together,they were friends first, longer than they were romantic partners and they both genuinely care about each other. This clip doesn’t show that but many others do, I disagree it’s uncomfortable to watch, the season. If you watched it fully, you’d see how Happy House is, how he doesn’t wanna screw it up and lose her. This is the happiest he is throughout the show and Cuddy has waited for it for a long time and was happy too. It was a mistake to A) keep them apart for so long when they’re not idiots and know how they feel about each other for ages. And B) break them up in a very rushed manner… You’re not crazy cause you have a different opinion Ofc but this is just why SOME people are sad over them
TBH, I've always thought that the way that Season 7 ended was more or less the only realistic way any relationship involving House could feasibly end. House is a fascinating character for a lot of reasons but he's also the poster child for self-destructive, self-sabotaging behaviour, and that makes him a ticking time bomb in any serious relationship. It's an ongoing plot thread throughout the rest of the series that Wilson is more or less the only person capable of putting up with House long-term (and even that has its limits). I forget the exact scenes but it's mentioned a couple of times that one of the only reasons he was ever hired at PPTH is because his behaviour makes him so unemployable elsewhere that they were able to hire him for cheap (and, well, the whole "being a diagnostic genius" thing). That's not the type of person that a straight-laced person like Cuddy (or Cameron, or even his ex, Stacy) could feasibly build a long-term romantic relationship with. House even blew up his marriage to Dominika, maybe the one person aside from Wilson who was willing to indulge his shenanigans across the entire run of the series, the season after this. Shipping characters can be fun, but sometimes a character is just meant to canonically end up alone, with a friend at two at most if they're lucky. House was one such character.

She has been there for this man as long as she’s known him, perjured herself for him, gave him a job when no one else would, defended him against a billionaire man who wanted to kick out him and Wilson, risking her own job several times FOR HIM: she has kept funds of thousands of dollars away for him for his insane whims and whatever he wants to do to ruin her hospital. She was there for him the entire night after Amber died and he was low-key paralysed,stayed the night. She was there for him so many times even House knows she’s far FAR FROM SELFISH

She’s been so SELFLESS that even he knows he doesn’t deserve her, House isnt Naive or not self aware..he knows she’s a once in a lifetime type of woman for him and irl if we met a woman like Cuddy, you’d be like woah what an angel, she loves me this much because that’s just how her actions have proved it
