hotness of markets is all manipulated. If they were forced to do things right, flippers wouldn't exist. They need to be sued out of their minds for stuff like this!! The laws should be highly facilitative for these kinds of cases. In fact the victim should have a choice - either walk away with full refund and force the flipper take it back, or the flipper pays for all repairs. There should be clear distinctions made between flippers and honest errors on the part of former home owners. It's fairly straightforward - anyone who made major enhancements and never lived in the place is clearly a flipper and should be criminally responsible for their work. If they were criminally negligent and did not advise the buyer of this, they should pay everything they can afford or go to jail. You wouldn't have this garbage, and you wouldn't have 'hot markets' either. It isn't healthy anyway when your average family cannot afford to own the average home without spending more than 20% of their livelihood on it. Laws should very cleverly do everything possible to prevent 'hot markets'. It is amoral to speculate on a primary dwellings, just like it would be amoral to speculate on food and have 'hot food markets'. Can anyone imagine that? No? Well then it should not be imaginable for normal primary homes either. This is what happens when misdirected greed is allowed to thrive supported by the system. Luxury yachts and mansions - ok, have all your 'hot markets' in extra items like this, but home building of our average home should be a very very quality controlled field

Sad to say, but the majority of these "contractors" do know what they're doing and they know enough to slap together this kind of garbage, make it look really good, and get paid for this criminal crap.

True, different way to think about it, if they know how to put tile on a wall, they should know it at least needs some sort of pan liner at the very least...somebody got pissed and threw up a shit job in a huge hurry, probably one day install. A typical shower like that takes me at least 3 days with waterproof prep, install, and grouting

It's a problem across our economy, not just building. Have you heard of off-shoring, for example? Almost all companies do it these days. It causes nightmares and headaches for everyone else in more ways than one. But when it comes to profit do they care about that? No! They can shout from the rooftops about what 'customer always first' policies they have and even exercise all sorts of fake activities to 'instill' this in their 'culture', but at the end of the day will they still sell their customers crap that doesn't work as expected?? Absolutely!! Then when finally things go south, who suffers and pays with their jobs and wellbeing? That's right, the employees! The customers can go elsewhere, but the employees suffer most. And that nobody gives a hoot about in this system. Yet if they just paid good people to diligently and methodically do a good job (yes, this takes time and money!!), then the customers would be happy too. Jobs are for employees, not for customers, BTW. The opposite assumption is the fallacy that starts this whole evil chain.
@Pwn3dbyth3n00b
@Pwn3dbyth3n00b 5 лет назад
As bad as the job is, its pretty amazing how they were about to grout that with all those voids under the tiles. Like geez i'd assume grouting with those voids would basically leak to the back and become replacement for thinset.

Raymond J Fox forgive my ignorance, I was sitting here so disgusted and blown away, almost wondering can this be for real but never questioned it. You feel that they actually went through all the work of staging all of that? If so for views that would be pretty crazy in itself. Although what was going through my mind, it is hard to believe that shower lasted 3 months unless the owner lightly showered like once every couple of weeks lol.

@@Ghrainne I've started in the trade almost 2 years now, and I've already seen some pretty horrendous tile work. The most recent one was a house remodel we got because the owner knows my boss, were originally going to fix a few chipped tiles on 1 shower so, i go in and begin to pull out the tile and as soon as i took it out more pieces came with it. Whoever did the job also spot bonded the whole thing. We ended up redoing the whole house, which was equally horrible.

My wife and I flip houses and do home repair. We call in plumbers, electricians, hvac, etc when it is necessary. I can't remember how many tub surrounds/showers we have done but we never did ANY work without researching the proper way to do it. Our work has stood up for a long time with no problems or complaints. We do things to code and require the same from our subs. That is probably hard to believe for many of the licensed professionals on here, but there really are people who aim to do really good work. Everything in this video is the exact opposite of what we do. In fact, we are hesitant to tell people we have flipped houses because people think of stuff like this when they hear "flip". We would be ashamed to do work like this.
@Ashad2012
@Ashad2012 5 лет назад
It's a lot easier to get away with shoddy work with some of the changes made in codes and inspection requirements. Throw in a questionable inspector and you have a real sh*t storm of problems. I find it hard to believe you are flipping houses and doing proper work, it would kill your profit margins and defeat the purpose of flipping. Maybe you just have sold to people who don't understand what they purchased or just passed the problem to someone else? I find it hard to believe the insurance is actually covering the damage to the house in the video based on the cause.

This is malicious fraud It's normal to hire a home inspector to inspect a house before purchase. It should also be common to contact the local building and zoning and state agencies which issue permits to pull every permit issued for the property. One should verify all work done on a home was completed by licensed professionals. If work was done on a house like this without a permit the house should be red flagged with the MLS listing. Should be a law

Glad you posted this. And this type of shit is exactly why I would NEVER purchase a "flip" house. I would rather purchase a house in totally shitty condition, because even though this may have "looked" good on the surface it's obviously in a shitty condition anyway. I wish everybody in the entire USA could see this video and then nobody ever would again purchase a flipped house from some asshole who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. I'm all for minimal regulation, but this is one place where I think regulation is severely lacking. These house flipper POSs should be REQUIRED to be licensed, bonded and insured. They should be required to pull a full on permit for each and every "flip" they do. They should be required to provide a 5 year warranty on every home they flip. Laws need to be changed so it's super easy to sue the shit out of a flipper who does shit like this. I pretty much hate these house flipper assholes as you all can probably tell. I'm a General Contractor and I see this bullshit all the time as well. Not much else pisses me off as much as this crap does because I hate to see these flippers absolutely ripping people off. Ok...
