House Hunters: Couple Debates Loft vs House in Atlanta
An Atlanta couple is excited to buy their first home, but they have very different ideas on what to buy. She wants to hold onto her "cool girl" status by getting an industrial loft, while he wants a single family house with plenty of space for their daughter and puppy to enjoy.

People always want tall ceilings until they see that utility bill..it takes a lot of money to heat and cool places like that..

Respectfully disagree.. tall ceilings in the Midwest and I wouldn't go back. Everyone has their own priorities though.

I hate the damn "trendy" lofts for a quarter of a million dollars. They are warehouses in crap areas with ugly cement floors, no walls, electrical outlets through conduit. Exposed heating ducts that are supposed to be "cool", with an Ikea cheap kitchen thrown in. It is a SCAM people. NOT Chic. A straight up scam.

the apartment they're living in at the beginning is great! I'd stay there as long as possible & save $$

I was really afraid they were going to pick the loft. With a dog and a baby, they definitely made the right choice.

That loft looks like a jail cell. I've seen way better looking lofts. That kitchen in the second house needs an island. Folks, if you see neighbors, that's what curtains are for. Woman, you can be a cool girl no matter where you live. Put some unique stuff on the walls, paint some funky colors, put out freaky yard ornaments. Use your creativity! They made the best choice. Already she's having fun with the decor and the paint.

I've seen some nice ones with exposed brick and wood floors that look pretty cozy. That one however looked like a jail cell.

i hate it when guys have an opinion about 'the home' and 'home decor'...u doing too much dude, stand down. this should be your wife's final decision. But definitely the best choice...love the house.

Digby Dooright....LOL! Funny. Actually no im not, i just have common sense enough to know that the home, (decor and selection) is for the woman. These things are important to women, its just the nature of our design. If a man is too much involved in this process, he'll only be shooting himself in the foot. Have you ever heard, "happy wife, happy life". (but i guess you would think that 'sexist' too...lol). Young people are so overly sensitive. Get your life experiences up, then we can talk. Peace.

Go in the kitchen and cook and then to the bedroom and wait on the love train. Doesn't sound good does it, just like saying men shouldn't have an opinion on thier family decor etc and where their money will be spent

There's cool moms out there. She can be a cool mom and it looks like it's going to be a cool house. Did you see that great wallpaper they were putting up in the kitchen? And that door with the British flag is great!

I'm sorry but I'm a mom and I'm cool af! Lol. We live downtown and love our urban lifestyle. Its so sad that women think they have to stop being who they are and loving their life when they become mothers. Its very possible to be who you are, love your life and remain "cool" even with children. Happy moms have happy kids. You don't have to lose yourself and you shouldn't.

Ive had no problem keeping my cool status AND being a great mom at the same time! Some of you ladies seem to think its one or the other. You're either selling yourselves short in life or you were never cool or fun to begin with.
