@@TrueRetroflectionso when he looks at the audience, he’s presumably talking to an confidante with Alzheimer’s and because of that only he picks up on it.
In the meeting with Justice Jacobs, Frank told the audience he was going to go soft on him. That’s why Jacobs heard it, because Frank stepped out of the Machiavellian code which defines him. It’s like Samson getting his hair cut off.
And honestly the beauty in it is that not having that dream team is Frank’s own fault, you think he can do any thing he sets his mind to because he’s exceptionally brilliant, committed, powerful, ruthless, but also so ruthless, so power-hungry that he drives away anyone who could possibly help him, or better yet, fill that giant hole in his heart that he will never fill- from Zoe, Peter Russo, Remy, Jackie, Freddy, and eventually Claire, he drives away or destroys anyone who could have ever had his back for a momentary gain in power. Even Meechum dies from the indirect result of Frank’s evil deeds. And although Season 6 was all over the place, I think it’s so fitting that, just as in the English version Francis was killed by his wife, Frank in our version was killed by Stamper, the most loyal of them all, proving that despite all the power Frank amassed, it was ultimately worth nothing, he still ended up dead and alone- he wanted the stone building that would stand for centuries but got the McMansion in Sarasota, nothing but a house of cards that earned him nothing more than a miserable grave next to his failure daddy in Gaffney.
@@akorn9943 Stamper killing Frank was the worst thing about the last season. That was the kind of heel turn I expect from WWE. Stamper had almost no motive for that.
I've always loved the imagery at the beginning. Underwood is standing alone at the face of 5 united democrats. Yet even then, he stands tall and displays a higher power against people who sit which shows people who are not as powerful and even Bob slouching displays less of a backbone.
“I want us to f*ck ing TRY!” What a statement, imagine if all politicians had that drive, that ideal. It may not work but the cause/goal is worth fighting for.. worth trying.
@@jakethewhale people like you are so dumb beyond words. Every president uses teleprompter but you guys always act as if only Democrats do that. Sarah Palin who has the I.Q. of a goldfish tried that crap against Obama too. Do you have any shame at all?

@@_Cato_ lol so you guys want unelected dictators because Frank was one. An unelected dictator who just pissed on the law for his own gain. You're fascists.
That one quiet kid is going to watch this show and go into government in a couple decades and then smugly turn to the side everytime he makes the point
@@lofor6434 Because people nowsaday are forced to make apology. In case u still somehow dont realize, cancel culture and PC culture have out of control for a while. Look at johnny depp. He is innocent but nah dont matter. The medias and crazy mod on twitter already declared he was guilty and just believe what "minority" said. Welcome to the world where common sense is now a rare item.
I know Frank is incredibly smart and god at playing the game, but a VP turned POTUS with a laughable approval rating would have absolutely no shot against the Speaker, House Leader, House Whip, Senate Leader and Senate Whip. He would get absolutely creamed here.
Yes and No. He had the upper hand because of how politics goes. It’s never good to not have a united party. So they NEEDED him to not run so they could pick someone else. So they needed him to cooperate. Him being the President gives him the respect of the party as soon as he announces. So in reality, he definitely had the advantage.
Gotta say, this show works much better when you watch clips of it, than as a whole. Some of the scenes in the show (such as this) are incredible, but the show as a whole was uneven, to say the least, and often downright silly.
@Fred Subia well, in some ways, yes. I think the show became more complex at S3, started to focus on the characters and how to handle and keep power. In Season 1-2 the plot was all about “be the president no matter what” , Frank almost won every negotation and thats it, but in Season 3 he had to handle a lots of shit, the investigations about corruption, win the presidency but now with real wotes, deal with Petrov, make the America Works succesful and all above his relationship with Claire. Hes cunning, try to make things rights, we see him gain weight, his hair became grey, and the first and last time he cries like a little boy on the floor. I think this was made out of purpouse , House of Cards S3-S5 wasnt made for everyone who liked S1-S2, because the tone was changed a little. The goal was how to gain power in S1-S2, but in S3-S5 its all about how to hold the power and how to create a legacy, at least thats my opinion about the show. S6 does not exist for me.
One of the greatest actors of his generation, who made an all too forgivable human mistake, and was pounded and hounded out of his career and his living. And in the end was innocent of any wrongdoing. The ironies would not be lost on President Underwood.
@@TheSedition666 Sex pest? That's laughable. He's a gay man engaging in gay man stuff with other gay men. Of course there's gay man flirting and gay man romance. None of which falls into the category of being a "sex pest". He might have overstepped a mark, but what person alive hasn't? The rush that people have to believe this kind of nonsense about certain people and repeat it any chance they get shows the kind of incipient homophobia that once led to gay men being beaten up and killed. The man is innocent, and you should know better than to make such an obviously false claim.
social security isn't a entitlement program, taxpayers have their money confiscated to support a pyramid scheme & there is no opt-out. DC politicians are entitled, work (1) year & get a full pension, lifetime health benefits & a talking circuit gig
I checked six spots on this clip, and it was Frank talking in every single one. Which was the problem with the show. It was about a couple people out-maneuvering robots who always did as predicted. Boring.
Spacey is the greatest actor in the last 30 years. And yes, better than many others out there. Whether he touch3d some bois or not, he is the greatest.
