Believe it or not the showrunners had to tone down that last sequence compared to the books. It was more disturbing in the books. Instead of the children being asleep they're awake. The mother chooses her youngest to be killed but instead of killing the one she chooses, the "rat catchers" say to the child "You hear that, little boy? Your momma wants you dead."....one of the men then murders the child the mother wanted to save. What's more disturbing about this isn't the fact the children were awake but that the surviving child will have to go through life knowing his mother gave him up to die, and the mother has to live knowing her child knows this too. It's sickening to think about.
I know. I wish they had actually done that because that would have really added to the moment because it makes what happens later on even more dramatic. :(

In the children room there are 3 cribs - two for the twins and a smaller one next to the door. Helaena is probably pregnant, that's why she didn't fight or offered herself. The actress also said Helaena didn't lie because she was afraid they would check the gender and kill them all as a punishment for not listening to their commands. She tried to save her daughter and the unborn child.
The people they're sending to the wall are not criminals they reach into a bag and pick stones and certain stones mean they get the honor of being sent to the wall to protect the realm of men from "winter".
Hopefully no one uses this against rhaenyra, she only wanted aemond. Daemon hired those two in secret. Also, maybe if criston wasnt busy giving alicent his hightower the kid would still be alive. He's like the new lord commander one of his duties is to guard the queen (halaena) and the next heir.

@@NeuralexLive emotionless. total lack of appreciation. watching the show with an attitude "c'mon, show me what ya got". In some cases (the worst ones) constantly referring to the finale seasons of GoT which, admittedly failed. I'm not saying all of them are, god forbids. But a definite majority.
It's crazy. I love this show so much. It's beautiful, well shot, well acted. It's everything you want from GOT. It's like the new season of the boys. People don't like it because it's political????
💚💚Team Green supporter here💚💚 First of all, I have to say, Phia [Helaena] did a great job. Her emotions, the way her character "works" was outstanding. Would I have liked them to have kept a few things from the book? Yes! But only because of Helaena, that she doesn't offer her necklace but her life, etc. But the way it went down fits her character in the show. She had to give up one or she would have lost both. But I have to say, those muffled screams and the noises of them sawing...this will haunt me for a long time..I really couldn't breathe, because I was also in shock. I am very empathetic and could relate to Helaena's panic attack and yes folks, a panic attack can look exactly like you saw it. In any case, I'm looking forward to the next episodes and to Aegon's revenge! My king!

Many people were disappointed with the “Blood & Cheese” sequence (the end of the episode) because in their minds it was the same as disturbing as the red wedding in the books, but to me this sequence was brutal, compared to GOT where we used to see graphic scenes they leave this one to our imagination, only the sound of the knife, the music and the terror in the face of a mother who’s also neurodivergent… disassociating herself and trying to keep her other child alive… to me this was more disturbing tbh. 😩
"Alicent is doing her best"? Are you serious? Alicent raised her sons to be full of hate and hypocrisy. She could have stopped feuding with Rhaenyra a long time ago and betrothed their children. But she was so full of meaningless hate she kept it gojng. She knew Viserys would never ever turn against rhaenyra. And she waited for him to whisper some sh*t and twisted the words without clarification. The man had just said the day before he wasn't changing his mind on already settled successions. And now she is perfectly fine with Larys killing in their name. So please stop acting like Alicent is some saint or victim. She's always been a self righteous hypocrite.
Even the Stark family is included in the drawing. I wonder if that is how Uncle Benjin was sent? And Helaena as far as we've seen, has always been right with her visions. She likely knows that as well, so she likely knows there was no changing what happens. It was her son or all of them. It just took her a moment to realize that and choose.

Well no during this time the north wasn’t sending criminals to the wall. It was a chosen person from a family. And your partner is right. The threat beyond the wall was known by tie lord of the Starks and the Targaryen kings only. Aegon foresaw this this threat in a dream.
