You got mixed up with Arryk and Erryk - the twin that brought the crown to Rhaenys and swore allegiance was the one who walked away and left his brother to fight Ser Criston Cole because he was disgusted at the thought of Aegon ascending to the Iron Throne. p.s. Lucerys can't marry any of Lord Boros' daughters because he is already betrothed to his stepsister and he does not have the authority to break that betrothal.

Bro.. The first (over) 90 seconds of this video is you talking about yourself/your channel. I never even made it to the content before clicking out. Consider putting that stuff at the end of something because there are a billion GoT youtuber channels, and I just want the content and dont give an eff about anything else. I think if you hop straight into it you'll get a LOT more subs. (But I also have no experiance making vids, and you have a channel, so what do I know. How Luce got back to his stressed out Arrax in the pouring rains. Saying words of calm but also of vigilance. Probably as much to his dragon but also to himself. Like the first time alone in the wild world and a giant predator is stalking you. The scene hit somehow really hard.

Wasn't it done well? I knew it was coming and yet I was still surprised at the twist that they both lost control of their dragons. Maybe an omen.. you cannot tame a dragon to do your will 100% of the time. I felt like Aemond just wanted to give Lucerys a good scare in the end but the Arrax felt the threat from Vhagar and 'dracarys' he gave him the dragon equivalent of flipping the bird 🖕

@@davidmancini8286 Viscerys claimed Balerion, so he was never going to fully control that dragon. Strong dragons require equally stronger riders. Aemond was strong enough to claim Vhagar, but not control her.

Everyone was so good in this episode. Ewan portrayed the sheer terror, panic and shock with one shot while Emma literally made me feel her anger, pain and rage along with that ominous music, literally goosebumps. Even the kid playing Luke was so good too. Overall what a sad episode, too bad we have to wait at least more than a year for season 2. My sundays will never be the same.

I’m starting to think the next series is going to be too sad to watch if we are to get more of the same types of events like Luke’s death reoccurring. It was hard to watch Luke and his brave little dragon go out like that .

Yes. I felt so bad for Luce, he already was having doubts. Well acted. I don't think Aemond actually meant to kill him, but he was so hellbent on payback and revenge he took his mind off Vhagar. Now they've lost a dragon in the war too. But Sapphire Eye really is dashing and striking a character IMO. Rhaenyra makes such a beautiful queen, and childbirth was difficult in those days. I felt bad when Otto Hightower presented her with the page from the book as a message from Alicent. But I was completely charmed as well as the dragon by Daemon singing in High Valeryan! It was so sweet too when Jacerys was trying very hard to learn the language as part of his birthright and culture. Beautiful! It's going to be a long wait until next season.

Short Luce running to his dragon was tragic. He looked so confused and scared. It was tragic all the way around. I don't know how Rhaenyra managed as well as she did. I can't imagine how it would be to lose a baby and then an older child, plus my dad in one week. All of the actors killed this season. Emma D'arcy carried this episode on her shoulders and I cannot wait to see Rhaenyra lose it next season.

I felt like that scene of Luce calming Arrax and flying into the storm was him earning his birthright. He flew bravely into the storm as a true Velaryon and Lord of Driftmark would have done, and he died a dragon riders’ death. It’s as though how the episode began with his Luce’s fear of not being worthy was totally proven wrong by his bravery and skill at the end.

I don't know how much HBO has already budgeted for Season Two, but based on the success/acclaim of this Season One, I'm pretty excited for Season Two given they should have a big budget to produce some great dragon CGI, castle sets we haven't seen yet, etc.

Yeah season 2 is going to be much bigger than season 1. I just watched a special on HBO about filming the finale they talked about how it's going to get bigger for season 2 especially that more dragons will be involved.

I see now that Aemond did not intend to kill Lucerys but he still is totally responsible for his death. He chose to still seek revenge for his eye... did he forget that he told his mother it was a fair trade? Even his grandfather said Vhagar was worth a thousand times his eye. The real villains are the parents.... they never made their children accountable for their actions and they never insisted that they made peace. An eye for an eye was all Alicent's idea, remember when she grabbed the knife to put out Lucerys' eye and also she still wanted Aegon to be king even though she knows he is unfit, she covers for him all the time. Rhaenyra also chose to make her first three children bastards which cursed them from the beginning, sad to say. The Iron Throne is the ultimate villain as it was in GOT, even Drogon knew that. It just a very tragic but compelling story folks, can't wait for season 2, it's also going to be tragic because many more dragons and people are going to die.

Daemon believed that Otto or Alicent is the reason for Viserys to become like he was, even in episode 9, he was quite unsure of the treatment Viserys was receiving, so it was quite obvious in a way that he would blame the greens I’ve always been intrigued by Dragonstone, the castle gives off eerie “you’re uninvited” vibes but at the same time is home and a symbol of power to the Targaryens The last 10-15 minutes were sheer terror imo, Storm’s End looked stunning, especially with the rain and the dark weather Emma D’arcy(Rhaenyra) and Ewan Mitchell (Aemond) were the MVPs in this episode for me, it was also good to see Corlys Velaryon

I don’t think so, I think it’s more of a revelation that while they are magical animals, they are still animals capable of free will choices. A horse can disobey his rider, a dog can disobey his handler and a falcon can fail to return to the glove. Animals make choices. The dragons obey orders just like any other domesticated animal, they can also ignore orders that go against instinct, just like any other animal.

I loved how Vhagar moved through the skies like both a giant shark and a snake. And how the storm makes the skies similar to being deep under water with bad visibility. Vhagar, shark of the skies, apex predator. Arrax is just a little guppy swimming for his life. Terrifying!

It tugged at my heart strings how pained she was. I have a 4 month old baby boy, it's as innocent and pure as it gets. If anyone ever caused him harm, I'd have that same expression. She wants them all to suffer her wrath, and I completely understand.

This Cargill brother was the one who ran away. The one fighting Cole is the one stayed behind. Because he was determined to serve the hand. The one who arrived at dragonstone with the crown didn't want to serve the high towers or their treachery. He also saved rhaenys.

Arrax feels lucs fear..being a young dragon, he is trying to defend his rider since luc was almost taken by vhaegars talon (arrax much like when an animal feels threathen, bounds to fight back)..sadly vhaegar also feels the same & retaliated with what arrax did

This show actually rewards being spoiled by the book (having read it or otherwise). Such a treat always to be presented with its twists from what you'd expect from the fragmented recollections of the source. Amazing that instead of black and white events occurring, presented as a series of missteps/mistakes that forces people to take up on a darker persona because the black and white narrative serves them better than the actual one that they didn't mean to happen. Aemond can't say that he didn't mean it for he will look weak, so he's forced onwards to take on the sick Kinslayer persona until the glove fits better and better.

Yes but it's wrecking him because early daemon was very chaotic violent at times. And aemond has it in him. If to not look weak he convinced self he means it, it wreks him. If he actually wanted that kill deep down at least he was intentional and true to self but no better of a person

I like GOT way better than House of the Dragon. The characters in GOT are way more interesting. When Ned Stark died that was huge. When this kid died I thought yea that was predictable. Also why do they make the hair color of all the children based on the father? If this was the case why does Jon Snow have black hair?

@@adamgaisser1875 because Martins genetics are a bit fucked up for now also in the books all viserys's children have Valyrian features but an example Is further on the Targaryen line you can see a couple of Targaryen with black hair like Baelor Breakspear and Daeron the small Is explained that sometimes when a Targaryen marries a non Valyrian his children might not have Valyrian features but still most of the time they do have the features Sorry for my english Is not my native language

The reason why Daemon thought alicent and her father played a part was revealed when they visited King’s landing, after seeing his brother bed ridden he felt that they weren’t looking after him properly and instead just allowing him to die and using milk of the poppy to Fog his mind to further plot.

Not only that but both Alicent and her father were visibly shocked when the King got out his sick bed to affirm his daughter as his successor on the Iron Throne when they had planned to name Aegon the successor there and then. So to if I were Daemon I would also think there decided to quickly move to kill the king after that moment. Daemon believing Alicent and her father killed the king is not that crazy when you look at all the events that occurred preceding his death.

That final scene is right up there for the more brutal and disturbing GOT/HOTD scenes of all time. Maybe not quite red wedding, but I was on the edge of my seat and let myself get lulled by him breaking out into sunlight. Holy hell that was vicious and showed just how gargantuan and predatory the dragons can become.

Keep in mind the books are written from the perspective of unreliable narrators. I love the way they built all season how dragons were uncontrollable forces of nature and now the very thing that brought the Targaryn's power will be the beginning of a civil war that would see them AND dragonkind end in ruin.

In the starting i thought that Visearys was not a person who deserves to be The King as he was easily manipulated by Otto whereas Deamon exactly knew his true nature. But as the series progressed episode by episode I came to realise that Veserys was the most thoughtful king who can see what is the real threat and what a man can control and what he can not,and what is more important for the realm .

@@soundshape6496 Valyrians had the Blood of the Dragon, there were a thousand houses that had Dragons in the time of Ancient Valyria... Targaryens were the only Valyrian House to escape the Volcanic Cataclysm of Valyria, and to keep their power and Bloodlines pure they resorted to Incest. In doing so there obviously were stillbirths and Deformities... if you have watched Game of Thrones you'd know Daenerys has a son that was born with a Tail, Wings, and Scales (._.) like a Dragon... this was Season 1 of Game of Thrones... clearly you haven't read or even watched the shows that much (:/)...

I think real reason Dameon lashes out against Rhaenyra about the prophecy is because even though he had given up his ambitions of the throne it's still a "fresh wound" in his mind. The pretext is that he disagrees with Rhaenyra about how to 'solve the green problem', he has always chosen violence/chaos to solve his problems and when the world gets tough for Rhaenyra, she pursues diplomacy. Even though they are married and he's "the man", she is "the queen" he has to be subservient to what she wants which is an ego bruiser in a male dominated feudal world. I don't think Daemon actually cares about ruling but he does care about being a Targaryen, his entire identity is wrapped up in it (as are many others) and to be told he wasn't 'worthy' enough to receive this prophecy, this family secret, triggered his violent & dark sensibilities as it had when he originally wanted the throne for himself. He had always been looking for an excuse to rid himself of the greens who he looked at as being bloodline usurpers, his brother's death was just the one he had been waiting for and anticipating.

In the show Aemond & Lucerys lost control of their dragon’s….. once Arrax opened “Fire” on Vhagar on his own ( Luke is saying “no” to Arrax ) Vhagar goes on full “beastmode” and kills both beast & rider ( Aemond is clearly heard saying No Vhagar No! ) In the book he seems like the killing was done on purpose but of course, that is how I was going to look.

To this day you are still the best GoT debfrief/theory/explanation channel. Part of what makes the show enjoyable to watch are these debrief videos that get put on YT and yours is by far the best. I would have no idea about so much of the lore surrounding the show if it weren't for your channel and the context it gives the show makes it so much more enjoyable to watch.

I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the end of the fight over Storm's End. It's said multiple times in the show, and even in this video, that Targs have a special link to their dragons. In the show it's stated that dragon's can tell the true intention of their rider, even if the rider never speaks it. Aemond may have only intended to hurt Arrax/Luke because he knew he shouldn't kill them for political reasons, but he definitely wanted to kill Luke for what he had done. Luke wanted to fight back, but couldn't do so because he took an oath. We see that will manifest physically when he grabs his sword inside Storm's End. So both dragons are acting completely in accordance with the will of their rider, even if they aren't following their spoken commands. Arrax tried to fight Vhagar because Luke really wanted to battle, and Vhagar killed Arrax/Luke because Aemond truly wanted them dead.

Arrax was not looking for a fight with Vhagar due to his rider's true intention. Arrax felt his life and his rider were facing a certain and imminent death so he lashed out with what little he had by flaming even if a completely pointless offense. The little dragon's self preservation kicked in.........survival mode here---- plain and simple, not Luke's unspoken bravado/payback/honor

8:01 Vhagar & Aemond has no connection. Daemon & Rhaenyra and their dragon have connection. Vicerys told Rhaenyra that it's a myth that they can control dragons. Once they click in to their own primal instinct, that's it. That is what happened with Arrax and Vhagar responded the same.

Well I suspect they are animals like any other domesticated animal. We don’t actually control horses either. They serve us as they please. When horses were common transport, death by losing control of a horse was fairly common. The dragons responded like animals. Arax was being hunted. He felt cornered, he couldn’t escape in the storm, so he attacked. Vahgar reacted the same, she was attacked so she fought back. Plus think of a hunting dog, get him excited for the hunt then deny him a hunt…..with his prey right in front of him. You’ll get the same result with most dogs.

How did Daemon learn so quickly of the boy’s death? The show didn’t specify as to how much time had passed, but the scene seemed to be implying that it was almost immediately following his having been killed.

@Loky Thanks… could be. It made me really curious compared to what I saw in the various preview videos over the past week. When the ‘remains’ of the dragon were shown sort of spiraling down from the altitude the ‘fight’ (if we can really call that a ‘fight’ rather than sort of a ‘quick meal’) took place, all that seemed to be left was a few feet of each wingtip. I couldn’t make out the boy’s body at all really. But I suppose as the remains of the wingtips were sort of spiraling downward a bit like a leaf falling from a tree, if the boy’s body remained relatively intact if likely would’ve plummeted much more quickly. Who knows?… I’ve got to admit though, trying to figure out how the remains of a mostly eaten dragon might fall to Earth & at what velocity, does make for a enjoyable thought exercise. Even if modern physics hasn’t quite yet produced the official drag coefficient figures on dragons. 🤣

If you go back and listen after she gives Jacaerys his instructions she tells Luke he has a much much shorter flight. Seeing as how he was flying south instead of Jace flying North which we know from GAME OF THRONES is much farther away than kings landing or storms end.

I really hope to see more locations in season 2, we really only seen Kings Landing and Dragon Stone in season 1, which is to be expected, but when the war breaks out, I hope to see more places like Winterfell, more of Storms End, The Erie, etc. I also hope to see big land battles like Battle of the Bastards, I do love dragons and can't wait to see them battle in the air, but I enjoy ground battles a little more I think. Regardless, amazing end to a great first season, can't wait for season 2!

In my mind, it doesnt matter if Aemon intended real harm or not. He baited Luk in front of witnesses and then chased him on a dragon much older and larger with a mind of its own. It might have been reckless homicide, but it was homicide no matter how you look at it. Don't know if it was intentional or not, but hes always come across as the more dangerous/menacing of Alicents boys.

I find it interesting people feel sorry for aemond when he embodies AGGRESSION. when you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. He was bound to take a kinsman's life because he was always bullying and threatening them with the sword. It was not just an accident. He was on a lethal animal threateningly pursuing another. What did he think what was gonna happen with all that aggression. He wasn't sorry he did it. He was nervous about repercussions.

TT thank you for saying Luc shoulda high tailed it outta there as soon as he saw Vaeghar. Craven schmaven. Rhaenyra should've given him that advice. She knew her enemies, but didn't put that knowledge to good use. If she's sending her kiddos out on dragon back to cement allies, she would consider the Greens might be doing the same. Aemond never got his "eye for an eye". King's Landing, Dragonstone, and Storm's End are short flights so it's not like her son's arch enemy is in a distant land. It was also naive to send an envoy with nothing to put on the table.

You forget about the aegon's message for peace? Rhenrya hasn't given her answer yet and they weren't at war technically. And it's her mother's house. They were supposed to be her biggest allies.

one small correction, I am quite certain Lucerys was in control of Arrax and intentionally attacked knowing he couldn't out run Vhaegar the difference between Luce and Aemond is the language they spoke to their respective dragons when either of them panicked Lucerys never stopped speaking Valyrian to maintain calm and control over Arrax, Aemond on the other spoke english once he felt he was losing control and thus never recovered.

Luke did not attack vhagar or aemond on purpose his dragon felt scared and wanted to protect his rider. His dragon did what he thought was best for himself and his rider

I think it would be cool if the made Aemond the night king just for simplicity's sake in the show. Unless GRRM has a better origin in mind for the Night King, Aemond becoming the Night King just flows better than anything else I can think of. It's clear from GOT ending there are additional Night Kings, and the one from GOT was just the one to rise at that time. Might as well make it Aemond if he dies anyway in the books.

He’s not the night king and the person on here also saying daemon being the night king makes sense, he’s not either. They literally established the night kings story already and it dates back before any of these characters were alive. The Night King, if anyone, is more likely a Stark or Symeon StarEyes

1) Lucerys was just a kid, but he was loyal to his mother. 2. Rhaenyra lost her father, her unborn baby and her son in just one episode. 3. Jace couldn’t say goodbye to his brother. 4) Daemon has a split personality, love him or hate him you can't ignore him. 4. We have to wait 2 years for new episodes.

7:25 I didn't want Rhaenys to kneel to Rhaenyra, for me she is the true black queen. She will however support Rhaenyra and it's because of how she approached her compared to Alicent. Yes, her response about Meleys was funny, but she voluntaired herself & Meleys to go take a look. So, it's not that she has chosen a side, she will fight with the side that is righteous. End of the day, she is a true Taegaryn.
