There was also another named Marston Waters, he tried to become Hand after imprisoning the Hand and also tried to kill viserys 2nd wife and also put his king, Aegon 3rd, under seige in his own house!
People definitely underestimated his love for his son he wasn’t the best role model sure but he had actual love for his son and actually tried to be there for him unlike his father who put little to no effort into raising him leading him believe he wasn’t loved and then ending up being raised basically by Otto through Alicent
The blanket that Helaena was embroidering when Aegon was looking for Jaehaerys in the last episode is the same one she hands to Alicent and says, "This is for my son".
Daemon's target was never clear. Even less in the book since he doesn't even mention Aemond. He contacted the assassins and said "a son for a son" and that's it.
In the show is pretty clear. He first talked only about Aemond, then they asked what if they don't find him, and then they concluded somehow "a son for a son" as Blood says later "he said a son for a son" - if it was Aegon, he would've 100% said 'the king' and still would've been absolutely impossible in Daemons' mind. So Jaehaerys.
Otto’s mistake was expecting an already impulsive person in the throes of grief to act with any sense of logic. Otto was trying to make political moves in order to keep the throne while all Aegon gives a fuck about right now is vengeance against the people who murdered his son in his crib.
Agreed. Also can't really blame Aegon for this, the calmest persons couldn't guarantee they themselves wouldn't do the same thing he did if the same thing happened to them.
I don't understand Otto and Alicent. I feel like they did everything to put Aegon on the throne, but didn't raise him well, not even a little effort to make him a good person.
@@thomasluke-wp8or Absolutely. They *all* share the failure of raising Aegon and instilling desirable attributes in him. Terrible parents, all of them.
@thomasluke-wp8or I know that of course, but the difference is Viserys didn't care about Aegon, but Otto and Alicent's whole plan depends on Aegon and putting him on the throne. They conspired to do it for years but didn't teach him anything all these years about being a good person or a good king. Now they are angry that he makes foolish decisions
Kin means blood, kinslayer means slayer of their blood relative. Its funny because aemond is the one who is called Aemond, the kinslayer, after he killed luke. Now they r putting it on rhae.
I feel like both Alicent and Aemond have a bit of main character syndrome. All Alicent wants to talk about is her sin. Meanwhile, Aemond thinks that he was targeted because the Blacks assume he is the most formidable rather than because he took out Luce.
We are all the stars in the stories of our lives. Name above the title type of movie star. We are the only character that is constantly onscreen, and our tales are told completely from our perspectives.
If you feel guilty about something that happened of course you will want to talk about it with someone The greens have different ways of coping with their suffering some of them disassociate, other try to hide their feelings and run away from their family. That's why they are so interesting
I mean Daemon probably does see him as the current main threat and probably wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by ordering Aemonds poorly attempted assassination. He even talks with Rhaenys that he and her should fly to kings landing to kill him.
People focus on the "teams" too much with this show. I agree that the Greens are more interesting and that's where most of the juicy parts of the story come from, but I still enjoy Rhaenyra a ton. Taking it all in is the best way viewing experience of this story imo
Same. I'm team black, but I enjoy team green characters a lot. They are messy and full of generational trauma. Though I would prefer to fight for Rhaenyra and I like her ✌️ Jace and Baela would be good king and queen as well. I like that they are honest with each other.
right!! People treat this show like a sport match, counting points and such. Personally im team green but i have Rhaenyra in my top 3, i enjoy jace and baela's scenes and i welcome any development on their side bc im here to enjoy a story before anything else. Ive seen a lot of people mad when the other side gets an emotional scene, a development etc that it becomes pathetic and it feels like they are not even treating this as a story anymore
Totally ! I think Rhaenyra should be on the throne (and Rhenys is one of my fav) but I’m team more Green (even if I hate « team » concept) because they are so dramatic, interesting and fun. I also think people don’t try to understand their point of view enough compared to the black
The aftershow said the look between Aegon and Heleana conveyed all their emotion and understanding... no, it did not. It seemed like Aegon ignored her to the viewers. I think green twin won, but after killing his brother (and not wanting to kill Rhaenyra in the first place) led him to just kill himself.
To help y’all remember Erryk is with RhEanyra and Arryk is with Aegon. During their fight scene, they are mirrored. One gets hit in the leg, the other does too. One hit in the arm, the other does too. So we as the audience can’t tell who’s who until they start talking. Arryk says “You parted us.. but I still love you” and Erryk kills his brother then can’t live with himself so he sadly kill’s himself :(
16:00 If you didn't realize, the 'civilians' in this scene were the blacksmith's family from last episode to whom Aegon promised some gold for his weapons and said something along the lines of "without the efforts of 'smallfolk' crown will lose the war", thus the scene came right after the prostitute with Aemond said 'smallfolk'.
Blood and Cheese was definitely overhyped by book readers. Also in regards to the changes to certain events, you can't take the testimonies from the books at face value. We only get a second hand account of the event and the source is Alicent and her servents. I think it's quite possible that in the books, the story is exaggerated by those like Otto who would benefit from an even more shocking story.
I don't get book readers with this one. Fire/Blood is a third person (idk which) account as told by Maesters in the Citadel after the fact. GRRM is working with the show so that how the "true" events are actually went down. So, there SHOULD BE differences.
Exactly! I don't get how people can't (or won't) understand that. If you have read the book, then you should know that each recounting of events is told wildly differently so we never knew which version was true, or even if any of them were. Also, since the story was not told from the POV of the characters involved, we never knew what their thoughts, feelings, motivations, etc. were. Fleshing that out in the show has been fascinating.
No, the changes in B&C were due to Ryan Condal. What we see in the show is his view of events, not the 'true story'. They cut Helaena's youngest son from the scene, and you cannot manifest a child out of propaganda.
@@Marcus_1001 GRRM was all praise when GoT last seasons were airing. Don't get me wrong, he certainly agrees to the changes, but it's all for the money. Some things that were changed cannot be said it was all greens propaganda. Helaena had another child in the book. It's different canon, not the 'true story'.
Actually it's not the true version, just a different version. GRRM recently also posted on his official blog that showwriters often thing they can do it better than the original author and sounded quiet unhappy. Read for yourself. With whatever direction HotD takes, GRRM doesn't seem to like it. I also think he mostly advises them, Idk how much influence he actually has.
It's true if I had one thing I would change about the show would be to make it more even and not have one side so clearly being the villains. Like you said, have had Aegon being less despicable last season. And maybe when Leanor disappeared, not show that they did not actually kill him for instance make Rhaenya more of a shades of grey character. But I liked that they humanized Aegon more this season even if he's a screw up. I don't even mind hanging the rat catchers because his beautiful child was literally beheaded. The kingdom would understand given that a rat catcher did kill his son.
That was my main issue with the first season as well. Even if they do a switcheroo with this season (which they aren't doing so far), the damage is done. Rheanyra is the hero of the story in most people's eyes. They already assume the worst of Aegon and only change their minds once they have been proven wrong, like his relationship with his children, or how he would treat his subjects. They also act like Rheanyra has the best moral compass in the show when Mysaria herself has done only good while Rheanyra is complicit in murder of innocents. How easy it is to put pretty lights and hero music on a character and have people turn a blind eye to their faults.
Maybe its about perspective honestly because me and a few ppl I know who also watch this are neutral. We know both sides have their faults and their strengths. Both do bad things and good things. But we do think Rheanyra deserves the throne, but the point is neither one is the "bad guy" I believe
@@mythicalfelix A boy was beheaded. He was the heir to the Throne. Hanging 12 people for it, lowly rat catchers to boot is more than justifyable. Hell if I was a Rat Catcher and they would hang me, I would understand. Cause a child was killed! Also the whole thing with Otto was uncharacteristic as in the book, it's Otto that hanged them! lol
I won’t spoil anything to come obviously.. but that Aemond scene when he finds the coin and holds it up to his good eye, it’s foreshadowing but I will not say more than that 🤭
Loved your reaction as always. You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing.
In the books Aemond is the main target of blood and cheese but yeah they are instructed to kill a royal son as a back up plan as Daemon just wants blood. The show cut off the conversation because the show didn’t want to spoil the ending of the boy being beheaded, the show wanted to keep it a surprise. Pretty obvious
Alright, settle down. Yes, SOME book readers are hyperbolic and annoying, but please don't lump us all into the same category. Many of us understand that there *should* be changes. Because of the way the book was written, we don't know what really happened.
When the funeral cart hit that pothole my heart sank. I thought for sure the baby's head would detach and not only fall into the street but bounce as well. I could picture someone tripping over the head and appear to kick it and end up being killed on the spot. Said man's friend would then attack the guard, and then all hell would break loose. I pictured a riot that would put Joffrey's cow pie riot to shame. So glad the show did not go this route.
Personally I expected a relic frenzy at that point. During the middle ages, there were instances of people taking pieces from venerated heroes, saints and martyrs, royals... either from a sense of devotion or to be sold. Or even just a crowd movement to touch the body from devotion, which can end just as badly if not worse than a riot (think something like people trampling each other every year in Mecca).
@@k.v.7681 That is true. I know when John Dillinger was killed women were dabbing handkerchiefs in his blood, and men were tearing parts off their own straw hats to soak up some blood of their own.
Such a great episode of #HouseOfTheDragon tonight. Very sad how much the family civil war is slowly destroying everyone around them. Sir Eryk is a real one‼️🫡 loving the consequences in this season 👏 the acting is superb. Quality TV by HBO. Bravo 🩸👑⚔️🐉🔥
I took Otto laughing at "He made me king," as a reference to the idea the Small Council had already decided to name Aegon king when Viserys died. Alicent's missheard comment just gave them extra validation/cover. It wasn't what Viserys said that made Aegon king, it was the council, led by Otto
I love your videos but I don’t know that I care for adding your gf to the videos. Watching your videos had more connection to me as a viewer when you were just talking to us while you were alone. Ofc you are free to do what you will but just saying it feels less of us watching with you and more us watching you and her and not connecting with us at all … if that makes sense
I apologize. I am still getting used to a duo reaction setup, it’s a lot different than doing it solo. Usually talking during a reaction is no problem for me because my headset is max volume anyways, but with a duo reaction I have to also attempt to hear someone outside of the headset. We can’t just not talk at all, because then not only will the video get copyrighted, but it also won’t really be a “reaction” video. We’ll try to improve to find ways so we guarantee not to miss any lines of dialogue, I think that’s all we missed in the episode anyways.
@@MovieFusion Its as easy as pausing the episode when some of you have something long to say. As a reaction's watcher I assure you, lots of us sigh in relief when y'all pause when talking.
@@perseusveil9376 Pausing is difficult to do because it can mess up the Patreon viewing experience for the Full Uncut Reaction. I do sometimes pause when I have something really lengthy to say, but if it's going to take less than 10 seconds to say what I want, I don't see the reason to pause it. Like I said, 99% of the time, this isn't a problem and I can hear everything the show is saying just fine. I just unfortunately missed that one thing due to me not being used to doing a duo reaction. I will try to avoid this best I can in the future, just wanted to let you know why pausing isn't always a good option for reactors. But I will do it sometimes.
It's better to pause than miss something while you're talking or looking away from the screen. I'm sure you'll get better at it. I've seen other reactors ralk while looking at each other, and something happens on screen, and they start asking what just happened. So, it's okay to pause it. That's what reaction channels are for @MovieFusion
@@PlayShorts3 I completely agree, but like I said, 99% of the time it isn't a problem and I usually avoid it because it messes up the Patreon experience. I promise if I ever feel like I completely missed something, I will make sure to go back and look. I just didn't even realize he said where he was going. But I'm definitely never going to make it so every time I want to talk I have to pause it, that wouldn't work.
The blacksmith person’s name is Hugh Hammer, he’s a notable figure in The Dance of Dragons so is Ulf the White (The guys who asked “who are they” when coming up to the ratcatchers and Addam, Alyn’s brother. All I can say with what I know
this episode was a great parallel too ep 1, in both episodes we're seeing 2 families grief the loss of a family member as a cause of this war and while with team black we saw how they were all there for each other and how they privately grieved the loss of lucerys we see now with team green how no one is putting in the effort to be there for one another and comfort each other, Helaena trying to speak to Aegon and him brushing her off to Alicent walking in on AEGOn clearly hurting and just leaving,
Never said they are “comic book villains” but a lot of the individual characters do have villainous traits (also, who’s to say a villain can’t care for others?)
They make a good point in this video, i know that this version is a tone down version from both Black and Green of what we had in the books, and they are trying to portrait a good side and a bad side, but the Black are just boring, they dont have anything interestring going right now because of this, if the green are not in screen i m really not paying attention
without rhaenyra’s niceness and morality she would’ve died. because she was nice and let the white worm go, she warned the guards which led to the fight with the twins. daemon is right to some extent but he’s too impulsive and reckless. he was wrong to do what he did.
I read the books and know why ppl are upset. without spoilers: lets just say they are not doing it the way we expected, not worse than the book but just different. Its good but changing the books was also the fatal error in got so i get why ppl are pressed.
the fight scene was all messed up, because erryk was the one with the leg wound, so the one who ended up getting stabbed, but they just forgot about it and made it so that he somehow was the one who killed arryk
In the behind-the-scenes video, the fight choreographer says they purposefully gave each brother similar wounds during the fight so that the audience wouldn't know which twin was which.
@anonymous-bb2dw at 1 hour and 3 minutes and 20 seconds one brother's right thigh is wounded (it's when Rhaenyra tells her maid to get Sir Lorent). At 1 hour, 3 minutes and 30 seconds, the other brother is sliced on the right thigh (it's when Sir Lorent enters the room). They make a bigger deal about showing the first cut, but if you pay attention to the foley sounds, there is a slicing sound during the sword swipe (after they break the pot), and the brother grabs his thigh and falls to one knee for a moment. It all happens in seconds. But it does happen.
Soz I can’t continue watching here… just don’t have the same energy that was in your previous GoT related videos, too much talky not enough reacty in comparison. No fault of “Guest”, that’s a choice
to be fair it wasnt a very reacty episode, very slow moving with only one or two big events. I like the talking, give you different view points but you are entitled to your own opinion.
