@@edn He's also the guy Rhaenyra runs into in the street when she's out with Daemon. He realizes it's her, sees Daemon coming, and kind of winks at her and lets her go. And we also saw him giving Rhaenyra a smiling look like, "Now THAT'S a woman," when she came back covered in blood after killing that boar.
@@jubilantsleep Hehe, yeah, definitely. I wish the show had done more with him, but book readers were looking out for him, so we recognized him from the jump.
39:48 Rhaenyra was covering her chest because her milk was leaking and while overfull nursing breasts are painful, Alicent's petty self called attention to the staining on the front of the gown to underline Rhaenyra's womanhood and thereby undermine her authority.
"She don't even act the same!" Yes... it has been 10 years... do you expect a 27 year old woman to act 17?? Also she has three children now, which has made her less rebellious and hot-headed, she's trying to set an example for her sons.
I love how HOD shows what child birth meant back in the day. Rhaenyras mother in the first episode eluded to well she said “birth is our battlefield. HOD really bought it to the forefront. They did an excellent job.
Larys not only inherited the whole land now that his pops and brother gone (he the new lord of Harrenhal), but he also got a blackmail on the queen. Larys dangerous af.
The father of Rhaenyra's sons is Ser Harwin Strong, Commander of the City Watch and older son of Lyonel Strong, Lord of Harrenhal. (in the books, Harwin is a physically very large/tall man whose nickname is "Breakbones"). He is also the older brother of Larys Strong, Alicent's creepy 'friend'.
Alicent has four children: Aegon, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron. Daeron has been fostered in Oldtown with his mother and grandfather's family, the Hightowers.
I can not see the young Rhaenyra with 5 children, it has to be the adult version that is the one that will stay the rest of the seasons the same goes to Alicent.
My mom is Laenor's color and my dad is white and I came out just like the Rhaenyra's boys in this episode. I was super pale and born with a full head of straight black hair. I have a little more color now but as a baby, people in public thought I was a porcelain doll if I was still and quiet.
This is like a 30 year history. And it's 10 years since episode 5.. these older characters were cast 1st.. they were always to play most of the seasons coming. The youngest actors look to young for that. And once you watch all the next episodes, you'll see why it fits good this way... I cannot see the younger actors playing these next episodes. I feel they act and look to young and to see that being used to them being young, won't match with what the older characters go through.. they didnt need to change daemon and older characters because they are ready older.
Laena was able to make a choice, one Aemma wasn't given and should've been. Vhagar and Laena are connected by bonds of magic and blood. Vhagar could feel her pain and possibly read her thoughts. She did her rider a kindness and granted her last wish. To die a dragonrider. Cristin shouldn't have a job, he failed and also was insane to think that some upjumped squire could effect the course of nations. He's insane, bitter and most of all jealous. Larys is the most evil of all of them. He's scary.
They can not leave the other actors in the series, because the younger ones are the prologue of the series, the true story and events happen when they Rhaenyra and Alicent are adults and already with children.
I think Laena knew she wouldn't survive, so chose to go on her own terms. She did say earlier she wanted a dragon rider's death, maybe that's what she meant. Also, the guy in the prison wasn't Otto, it was just a random prisoner. Can't wait to see your reactions to the 4 remaining episodes!
The Kings parents were brother and sister. Rhanerya’s mother was his first cousin. Rhaenys’ mother married her nephew. The Targaryens intermarried to keep the dragon blood strong
This is one of the few time jumps the show will have. There will be only ONE MORE after this. This episode takes place a full decade after the events of the 5th episode. Oh and you sweet summer children, you think this show is crazy now, wait till next season. It’s gonna be FUCKING BONKERS!
Daemon's wife said earlier in the episode she wants to die a Dragonriders death. So when she knew the baby wouldn't come, she went find it instead of getting a messed up medieval C-section, which was a death sentence in those days obviously. Also.. the Dragon knew she was dead anyways through their mental and physical connection.
A lot of people misunderstand the childbirth scenes. Rhaenyra's mother and Laena were both going to die no matter what because they could not get the babies to turn properly to come out. EIther the mother's and the babies trapped inside them die or the maesters attempt a c-section and baby is potentially saved but the mother still dies no matter what. It also has to happen while they are conscious because enough "milk of the poopy"(a strong opiate) to keep them sedated would kill the babies. It is still messed up for the women, but it is not like Rhaenyra's mom was simple selfishly killed for no reason, but she still wasn't given any choice or a chance to mentally prepare. She died in terror and immense pain. Laena had Granny Vhagar roast her because she always wanted to die as a dragon rider. She couldn't die in battle so she chose a fast death by dragon fire instead of the other two long, painful deaths she faced. Also, it is believed all her fertility issues were a result of having Rhaenyra way too young. I can;t remember how young I heard she was.
there is NO way they could keep the same actors for a 10 year time jump. the girls before we’re amazing but wouldn’t be convincing as mothers of three in their late 20’s-early 30’s. like zero chance. the girls before we’re only hired to play the child/teenage versions. you all are so clueless bro.
"What is Criston so mad about" - To understand this you gotta remember Criston is a Knight from the Middle Ages. You can't apply modern way of thinking on him. Criston ain't gonna understand Rhaenyra was just having a hot girl summer. He don't know what being a side piece is. He has no idea what a one night stand is. That type a ish didn't exist in his world. A medieval knight is gonna have a totally different idea of honor and chastity. For him sleeping with Rhaenyra meant he HAD to marry her. Criston walked away the moment he realized Rhaenyra had no intention of doing that. He was literally asking the Queen for a death sentence for his trangression. If he was willing to die himself to protect his honor, imagine how he feels about Rhaenyra sleeping around? Criston would be like a super religious fanatic in our world. Think of his mindset like that.
It's kinda like how in the Middle East there's a thing called "honor killing". Extreme religious shIt where mfs would literally kill a female if she brought "shame to the family" by having a extramarital affair? It's like that. Criston would probably kill Rhaenyra for sleeping around, thinking he's saving her honor.
Ser Cristin was a sworn knight of the King’s guard. Assigned to the King & Rhaenyra. Sworn to a life of celibacy/ protection. Marrying Rhaenyra was never an option regardless of what he imagined. It would have been disgrace and/or exile for her and death for him. A life on the run had she agreed to run away with him. Idk why everyone thinks he didn’t understand fully the consequences of his actions or what side-piece arrangements were. Ofc he did! Remember, marriages were created for political/social/economical elevation and survival. The idea of romantic marriage (marrying for love) is newer concept that was rare in most societies.
If rheanerya can't get laenor to impregnate her. That's not truly her fault... no matter who those children daddy is, they still have to play the part. The King and corlys both accept those boys as their kin....yes, she still shouldn't have had children as bastards tho.
Rhaenyra now is older and wiser and more mature. She has had children and grown up.. people change over time... The balls are for when they are at that table discussing council business. Once you are at that seat, those are only council talks only.
Sadly, neither Ser Criston nor most of the court would find Laenor's inability to produce children with Rhaenyra an acceptable excuse for her having children by another man. Married women having children by someone not their husband is counted as bastardy, a huge sin (naturally, not as big a deal, nor necessitating punishment, when a married man sires children out of wedlock).
"the blood is leading straight to the father. do you see the symbolism." "She need to sit down, bruh" It's like watching game of thrones with my brother lmfao yawl kill me.
The kids being white isn't an issue at all. Im mixed and my daughter looks practically white, it all depends on the genes. Sir Harwin has been admiring Rhaenyra since episode 3. He's the one who nodded to her returning bloody with a boar.
She wanted a dragon riders death🤞🏼In the books Daemon & Laena are very close and so is Laena & Rhaenyra the show it’s slightly different probably directors choice PS. Every house( Hightowers/Targaryens/Velaryon/etc) has their own land The Targaryens land is Dragonstone which is where Rhaenyra went to Westeros or the (city) Kings-landing is where the kingdom is located and where the royal family/King stays
Lol not sure you’ll see this since the video went up a year ago however, she was lactating that’s what happened at that moment where the queen brings her attention for a second and she looks down and says seven hellsit’s because her milk let down and apparently back then they didn’t had to make sure it didn’t leak, and people noticed that the front of her gown was wet
That wasn’t Otto 😂! I was 💀. So glad you’re back in HOTD. Please keep the 🔥🔥🔥 going. Happy Holidays gentlemen, continued blessings & success in 2023. You’re reactions keep me laughing! I felt Leana died a dragonrider’s death. She left exactly how she wanted.
Y’all completely misunderstand Laenor and Rhae’s marriage lmao. It’s as funny as it is frustrating. They married bc she didn’t want a political marriage. She wanted the freedom to find love and companionship. Laenor is gay and has no attraction for women. They married to be each other’s beards. It was an open relationship. I don’t know if they originally tried to have kids and couldn’t (Laenor and Rhae). Or if they never tried. Either way, Laenor, Rhae, King Viserys, EVERYONE (important) does not care lmao. Alicent is the only one having a hissy fit and it ain't even her bloodline and family.
11:25 ‘They straight white’ lmao. That’s not how genetics work. I am 25% white and 75 black. I have a cousin who is 25% black and 75% white and she’s the exact same skincolor as Rhaenyra’s sons. They look fully white. But i also have another cousin who’s also 25% black and 75% white and they’re the same skin color as Daemon’s daughters and only about 1-2 shades lighter than me. So it can go both ways, but them looking fully white is more probable and Rhaenyra’s kids most probably would have looked fully white if she had kids with Laenor bc Laenor himself is halfwhite. So it’s not the skincolor you have to look at, it’s the haircolor that matters here and that’s what gives away that they’re not Laenor’s kids.
Rhaenyra knew Cristin was a knight & what it meant forc then to have sex. You don't "ask" / push sex on someone you know has feelings for you in the first place but then she also knew the dishonor that was involved. He was willingly to leave everything for her but she realized "oh I've been whining about my royal privilege I've been a hypocrite saying I actually hate it and want our, I'll never give it up not even for a clean slate across the sea".
Directors stated that they intenionally wanted to bring child birth in front in this show considering how many people are alieniating from the risks and dangers from it without proper medical intervention. Child birth is brutal and does not always end happy. That's the cruel state of things that shouldn't be a case and can be mended with knowledge and right funding and advocasy.
Dude in the dungeons was not her father otto. They were given a second chance to do larys dirty work...hint why he cut their tongues so they can never speak...I'm guessing with the low education the common folks had they also didnt know how to read or write.
But the other difference, and it really doesn’t come out so much in the show and it’s a year later so I can say this Ranyra wasn’t with anybody other than Christian, then Harwin, when he was killed, and then she was with Daemon. And the problem is Lynn or was with a lot of different men, and was not as careful about who knew that which made it very messy on that side, and then you had some who knew about lord strong, but nobody could prove it just by hair color and being white they didn’t have DNA test back then.
When they are talking like lainor, and Rhaenyra are talking once he comes in singing when she says the vile insults you have to talk. That way you were talking about how she was playing in messy she’s not. She calls them her and Lainor his kids while insult if someone is calling out the parentage of your children if you don’t want people to believe that, then you’re gonna say they’re Leonor’s in every possible way always because one fuck up and the whole stories out the window. I get that they are white I get that they are dark-haired however, the fact that there are darker hair, Targaryen‘s and in the movie are the books in, who is the mother of laenore therefore the grandmother of the boys in the book has long brunette hair for the show they made her blonde. So it is not unusual to have that pop up sometimes it’s a genetic thing.
Oh no, no no Rhaenyra did not take his honor she was 14 years old when he took her virginity whether she hit on him or not he was a adult age at the time that he took her virginity so he knew better and that man had to take off a hell of a lot of armor, and under layers before he could have sex with her, so he had plenty of time to think about his honor Before he did what they did. He’s just pissed because she didn’t take him up on the marriage proposal and she replaced in Mr. Harwyn. He’s much better looking and a much better characteristic in person hence why her kids turn out to be so much better along with her being a better mother than AliceNt.
I'm a year late, but you guys really need to learn how to Stfu. Ya'll be missing important dialogue and later on start coming up with questions that would have been answered had you not run your mouths through important scenes. Jeez.
