Another excellent, dense and riveting episode of 'House of the Dragon' as we inch closer and closer to the civil war known in Westerosi history as 'The Dance Of Dragons.'

The hardest things about the names is that so many of them repeat lol.

The thing is, they HAVE to manage the money correctly. They can’t show every battle. They’re saving the cost for the Dragon battles. This is also likely why it’s 8 episodes. It’s going to snowball into huge costs due to the nature of the show. The build up is going to make the battles that much sweeter. Writing wise it seems they’re having ALL bases covered politically before the war officially starts. I’m going to guess episode 4 will have the first attack and in 5 the full conflict starts. My only concern is with how the dance just keeps escalating, will future seasons lower episodes due to rising VFX costs. They seem to know how to manage the VFX budget with clever story editing but we shall see. This season so far has been just as great as the first although…I miss my man Vizzy T. I miss King Viserys. We also do know if Allicents brother. He’s in the first episode of season 1. Daemon unseats him in the tournament during their house. He does it to get under Otto’s skin.

Border skirmishes always prelude larger fights, so I'm not upset with the build-up as they've been presenting it.

I honestly have no problem with the names that are very similar because from a reading perspective I think it is a brilliant way to show that targaryans are close to each others, they are having relations with each others to keep the bloodline "pure" so I am not surprised that they have very similar first names :) But I agree that it is probably easier when you read the book than when you are watching the show. Great show, that keep the viewers active, you need to pay attention to everything, there are details everywhere.

All the similar names get even worse when half those people are also siblings or close relatives. You’d think even they’d screw up each other’s names from time to time. I think I would enjoy a scene like that actually. I don’t know, have Allicent accidentally call Aegon by the name Aemond or something. Moms do that all the time actually, mix up the names of their kids.

Loving his show. The hour alwahs flies by. Why cant all shows be this well written and interesting, like the Acoshyte and Rings of Power etc?? 🤦

I read the first "Game of Thrones" books through about 3 times each, would re-read the whole series when each new book came out... I just wish the book series had been continued cos those early books were so good! I'm actually quite tempted to read the books this show is based on, the world and the history is really interesting and well thought out.

Big cast wth lots of tricky names, looking at theTargaryean family tree online just reminded me tbat inc*st is a big thing in that family, no wonder half of them were mad. Also need to try to remember peoples names AND their dragons !

I hate to be that book guy but i thought explaining the whole miscommunication thing between Alicent & Rhaenayra (however you spell her name) was a terrible choice. Also, please correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't the aunt Rhaeyna (whatever), the first casuality of the war, not Jaeharys?? So they're not guna kill her right away, are they? Which would seem another terrible choice...

Rhaenyra paying visit to Allicent was not a very good scene. One time again, it feels like distances don’t exist and that’s a problem for a medieval setting (we know dragons can help but it’s not always shown like that). If they jump on the occasion to show her wandering through King’s Landing and taking the pulse of the city, this could add a little drama to this kind of "one-day trip". Will they?

My initial thought at the conclusion of the episode was that I really picked the wrong time to watch this episode with my mom.......

I'm really liking this show, far more than Rings of Power. But, I will say that I have yet to find any of the characters like able. In GOT, in the first episode, you had very like able characters right off the bat, Jon Snow, Tyrion, etc. but, in HOD, I have yet to find characters that I care about. Yet, I still like the stories of the series, which, is what keeps me watching.

For the mighty algorithm. I don't know man, this show not for me... Now, Raised by The Wolfs on the other hand... Why did they cancel it :(

You can thank the same nitwit that has cancelled multiple other shows, films and even reduced the episode order for Season 2 of HoTD last minute when production began, David Zaslav.

What happen with Criston Cole hair? Weird seen him with two different haircuts in one episode.

I’m getting frustrated with the show taking too long to get to the point. It’s 2 episodes short and they made their point in Season 1 and the first 2 episodes, why waste yet another!! 🙄

Fair point about there not necessarily being anyone to root for unlike in GoT, which is definitely an issue for sure.

Didn’t D&D show genital warts in GoT for literally no reason? I think HoTD is fine. 😆😆😆

This was the weakest episode by far, imo. Weird focus on male genitalia - I took figure drawing in college and had to draw men and women in the buff, so nudity does not bother me, but this seemed bizarre. Particularly the BJ shot. And, again, Alicent and Rhaenyra are almost saintly - it's forced drama, when the focus should be elsewhere, imo. In the book, Rhaenyra hated the other side - blamed them for the stillbirth of her baby, among everything else. By the time Luc was dead, there was no turning back - that was the turning point in the story. I appreciate your review, but I'm just not happy where the show is going. I thought the Harrenhal stuff was cool - probably the best part of this episode. The rest of it, not so much.

I agree . Just the idea of the reason Aegon conquered westaros cuz he dreamed of that shit is hilarious.

I took the entire over showing of cocks to represent the men sizing eachother up. It’s made to be like the king is the biggest “cock” in the room during the brothel. He’s trying to embarrass his brother but his brother, unclothed, stands his ground. It’s just symbolism.

"Nudity doesn't bother me. So let me explain in my comment how I was bothered by naked people doing sex acts in a brothel. In a show/ series notorious for consistently having gratuitous sex and violence." 🤓

@@Shadow-In-The-East Yeah - you're right. All nudity is the same. There's no such thing as context or presentation. What was I thinking?

You can thank David Zaslav. The writers had to change a lot of stuff around when he cut the number of episodes for season 2 which was originally meant to be much longer.
