The dance has begun, and it's time for Mal and Jo to dive deep into the explosive fourth episode of ‘House of the Dragon.' They begin with their opening snapshot (06:12) to discuss their overall impressions before going scene by scene into the intriguing, witchy, and dragon-battling wonder (09:38). Later they are joined by Aemond "One Eye" himself, Ewan Mitchell, to discuss his role in this episode and what it took for him to inhabit his scheming character (03:22:15). I’ve always hated how everyone I watch fantasy shows with or play fantasy video games with never shares my love of deep diving into everything about the show or game and spending an ungodly amount of time thinking about it. I love lore for things like thrones and middle earth and the elder scrolls but I’ve never had anyone to discuss it with. So thank you guys for doing these because it makes me feel like I’m just sitting at the table discussing all the things I love, with you.

I think one of the differences is that all of Catelynn’s children were alive. Rhanys’ children have passed so maybe she was more open to acknowledging Alyn now vs. when her children and heirs were alive.

In fact Catelyn would have grown up learning about the history of the decades of war, treachery & death that came from bastards pressing their claims against trueborn heirs. Such events haven’t happened yet in Rhaenys’s time.

Rhany's was also a hard core Targ. If you notice her allegiance, its always with the true Valyrians. So i would think that she is more desensitized to adultery and bastards vs Catelyn who is a cuddled little girl waiting for her father by the window then married an honorable Northerner.

In the scene with Alys Rivers. The closed captions said Frog 🐸 (noises) and then suddenly we don’t hear the frog 🐸 noise anymore and then we see Alys Licking what looks like blood 🩸 off of her fingers 👋. So I think some dead frog was in the drink she offered Daemon. And yes owls 🦉 eat frogs 🐸

I think the smart and very defensively course of action for Rhaenys would’ve been to flee to Dragonstone after her first dance with Aemond and Vhagar. By then she had fulfilled her duty to defend Rook’s Rest, their allies. The only reason why she would stay and fight would’ve been to gamble and see if she could end the war by taking down Team Green’s biggest advantage.

Big disagree with Ned telling Cat. Cats enmity towards Jon is part of the cover. Like when Melisandre is telling mance the bones are important for the glamor, ppl expect to see the bones. Ppl expect Cat to hate Jon so Ned has to let it happen. The moment he tells anyone he first breaks his promise to Lyanna to keep him safe. And he endangers the person he his telling this secret to. All around bad idea to tell anyone let alone Cat’ imo. love the podcast

I don’t think the word few needs to be taken so seriously and to me it seems as though only 4-6 weeks have passed Green council was 1st day after death Black queen was like the next 2 days Word of Luke’s death probably took a day to get back Jace’s trip north + time for raven to get there and Jace to get back probably 2 weeks Couple days pass in the start of this season with blood and cheese and then a couple more days with the aftermath 2-3 more weeks for Cole’s campaign, rhaena departure and daemon to harrenhal So someone who has gone through tragedy upon tragedy upon weird sex upon sept meeting called a month+ “a few weeks” Big deal

Something I just realized, everytime we have seen Alys it is only at night, not during the day so far. That made me wonder about the “is she a ghost?” theory as well. I want to see Alys during the day now or maybe she is like Hecate the goddess in Greek mythos who has more power at night.

Allicent and Otto purposely did not teach Aegon how to be king because they wanted him to get bored with it allowinv them to rule behind the scenes. Look at 2nd sons Damon and Ammond...trying to be King because they think they are passed over.

Vhagar almost got meleys at the start of the their fight. She barely managed to stay airborne, vhagar released her just a little to high. If meleys had hit the ground with vhagar she wouldve been a sitting duck, unable to take fight again.

There is exactly a zero percent chance that Aegon, serial grapi$t and child-tr@ffic-King tried anything "SO HARD." His poor character, laziness and entitled nepo baby existence ensured that no one in the Red Keep wanted to invest in him. They have illustrated this > half a dozen times, including in this episode.
