I have such a weird relationship with Aegon. He was brutal to the young maids in the Keep last season and Alicent had a steady supply of plan b tea on hand because of his failings. He was thrown into a situation he didn't want and wasn't trained for. He desperately wants the love and respect of his mother and the people. I think je really does want to be a good king. I want to root for him but after what he did to the maids I am having a hard time with that. It doesn't help that Tom Glynn Carney has done an outstanding job as portraying Aegon as a charming, broken character seeking the approval he's never gotten. He has portrayed Aegon perfectly.

As far as I’m aware, in fire and blood, Aegon never went so far as to full on grape anyone. He was known to fondle handmaidens, but I can’t recall any crimes of that degree. The only person who suggested anything truly horrible from him was mushroom, who is usually full of BS. It seems to me that season 1 tried to make the greens too in likeable and downplay the black’s crimes. Where was in the book, I got the sense that EVERYONE involved in this war was a piece of crap and neither Rhaenyra or Aegon deserved the Iron Throne

In the book, Alyn's mother claims he is Laenor's son, but people assume he is Corlys's due to Laenor not liking the ladies...

She had enough power and while it suited her well it never seemed she wanted to rule more that she had a job and wanted to try to keep her family in one piece. Maybe she was different in the book but she was my favorite the constant voice of reason who ride for her people against all odd.

In the book, Aemond and Aegon 2v1ed Rhaenys. In the show, Aegon got 2v1ed by Aemond and Rhaenys.

Aegon's story is so tragic. He was dragged into this position he hadn't wanted, but once he had it he at least tried to be a good king, but the council doesn't care about him as if he's just a requisite propped there. No one involves him, Alicent says sit and learn, but no one actually teaches him. They don't advise him but work over the King's head and his mother insults him as stupid. Of course he feels neglected and unloved. After his son died, his dragon is the only one out there who actually loves Aegon, the rare genuine smile he received and gave out because no one else gives him a reason out. So, desperate to feeling valued, he wants to show them all that he, too, can do something.

Aegon's grasp of High Valyrian seems roughly on par with Tyrion's. Also, it's highly likely that the Maester understands, but wisely keeps his mouth shut.

Grand Maester Orwyle would know Valyrian and understood what Aemond was saying to Aegon. And Daemond at Harrenhal, the Targaryen dreamer side of him is kicking in full time now. He is in the area of the Old Gods after all. Weirwood trees on The Isle of Faces across from Harrenhal, The Weirwood tree in the courtyard, the Weirwood bed he is sleeping on, not to mention the roots that are growing into the structure of the castle itself, Daemond is going to have a jolly good time at Harrenhal.

The reason why Rhaenys turned around and fought is because Deamon accused her of not preventing the war in the first place. She could have killed the wrong king when she escaped from KL. If Aemond had wanted to free the king's dragon from his torment, he would probably have done so in spite of Christian's presence. But he didn't. So who was this really meant for?

When Aegon learned that Aemond and Cristen had been plotting behind his back, he should have ordered Aemond to the dungeon for a day or two, and then had a chat with him that he can't be undermining the crown's authority, but rather acting on the crown's behalf by commanding its army as its top general. That would have nipped the issue in the bud.

Rook's Rest plays out a little differently in the book. There Aegon was in on the plan and he and Aemond ambushed Rhaenys. Aemond didn't try to kill him.

SPOILERS: In the book the blacks kill Jahaerys intentionally. They get Maelor killed, and Wormy possibly taunts sweet Helaena into suicide. Rhaenyra arrests Corlys, and tries to kill Addam, and Nettle. The blacks allow the storming of the dragon pit that genocides dragons in the world... And there is no saving the world prophecy silliness, so it is all selfishness.

The part that hits me the hardest is when Sunfyre is yelping in pain right before getting attacked again. I hate animals getting hurt. Mythical cgi creatures or not, that sucked to watch. Made me think of a dog that is hurt and scared. 😔

Not for her. She wanted to know if her father had actually betrayed her in the end. And if it was worth going to war at all. Rhaenyra did not want to be queen. But her father had prepared her for it her whole life. It is important for her that she does not act against her father's final wishes.

He has defended it and pretty recently too. If you search "grrm criticises house of the dragon season 2" you'll see and that's only part of it. It's HBO, Condal and Hess that are too stubborn to make a faithful adaptation.
