What a sad nation we are, when we demand so little from our representatives. We won’t even compel them to tell us what we want and need to know. What a joke.
@@Joemamarickroll Yes, it is all theatre and some serious questions _need_ to be answered. If the Chinese government is trying to coerce Michael Chong, why did he have to find out about it two years later, one would think that either the Chinese are phenomenally incompetent at coercion or the 'official' leak is bull$hit and we should be going back to see why the investigation was undertaken in the first place, the source of the information that prompted the investigation and why it was leaked. has the 'intelligence' community a different agenda? Who controls their agenda? Who should Canadians really be concerned about, CSIS or the Chinese?
Why does it take 10 members to ask the same question and get the same answer. Surely they can think on their own, and not ask what Pierre tells them to ask. Why not suggest a better solution instead of just disagreeing with everything. Question period is a waste of time. Its been the same boring question period for 3 weeks now, they all might as well have stayed home. Pierre is our solution, i don't think so. I wish they had picked somebody else to run our party, he will go down in one term.
Thank you JAGMEET SINGH for making the threat to canadian democracy possible.... Official water boy for the liberal party.... Carry that water JAGMEET.... Justin's thirsty for more power...
He is liar to prove the public although he is half chinese but he his loyal to Canada and make him known politically but making lies for political gains. Csis making all kind of speculations or analysis a or notification what they think or potential speculations. When they say briefed means they send a notification or memo speculations. If it is true fact They will inform the rcmp to investigate and notify PM to act... that is reason Chong is lying...
@@andylimyin Specify the lies exactly. Tell what YOU know about his personal case, what happened and when. Naturally you were there to witness every relevant interaction. Does the fact that he is half-Chinese by descent require him to serve the PRC? The PRC does not adequately represent the interests of its own subjects, let alone the interests of the Chinese diaspora!! it is an evil, godless, tyrannical regime with a megalomaniacal leader. In this regard not much has changed since 1949. I agree that some of Mr. Chong's statements are too vague to inspire confidence, and I will not deny that he is exploiting the situation to make hay politically. But do not all but do not all politicians do the same, including the PM and the Chinese gov't in all its branches? Do you DARE pretend that either of them are incapable of lying? In your heart and conscience you must know better. You have misplaced confidence is due process. Only in DREAMLAND does every public servant do his or her duty with perfect integrity and efficiency. Real humans are SINNERS. They 'miss the mark'; they fall short of their own potential, let alone the Divine standard of the Ten Commandments or the perfect model of Jesus Christ.
Trudeau's Liberals are not small-l liberals anymore. He turned the party into an authoritarian cult of personality and destroyed freedom of conscience in it by kicking out the few pro-lifers that remained. Then the Cons went soft on the same issue, because they were afraid of being pilloried by the culturally 'progressive' media. Bur I don't consider a return to the pagan decadence of ancient Rome 'progress'.
Traditionally chosen by all mp’s, as a house vote. Please read up on the history before making accusations of unfairness or bias of the speaker. It’s not the same as in the US at all
Bull, this is all political theatre! This speaker of the house, Anthony Rota is a sad example of our democracy and to stand at the head of the Canadian government is a down right embarrassment to all Canadians, you can clearly see in all his clips that he is biased and is nothing but a cover for trudeau and his henchman. Shame Shame!!
Very unsurprising though. This is a country where euthanasia and abortion-on-demand are very popular, where the gap between rich and poor is growing dramatically but top officials seem unconcerned. I guess they're doing OK financially. Why in such an environment would one expect a classy Speaker who show moral leadership?
Sadly, the immature behavior of Conservative members of parliament distract from any actual substance to their claims. I do not get who they think they are appealing to by behaving in such a juvenile way. They could have made the exact same argument in a respectful way and not come off looking like buffoons.
I think a more appropriate question is who is, and why are they spreading the misinformation and disinformation. If the Chinese government is trying to coerce Michael Chong, why did he have to find out about it two years later, one would think that either the Chinese are phenomenally incompetent at coercion or the 'official' leak is bull$hit and we should be going back to see why the investigation was undertaken in the first place, the source of the information that prompted the investigation and why it was leaked, has the 'intelligence' community a different agenda? Who controls their agenda? Who should Canadians really be concerned about, CSIS or the Chinese? Why is no one asking these questions?
@dennisheyes4561 Well, given the severity of the issues discussed and the lack of action from the lpc, I would say their outrage is understandable. This isn't primarily school...an MPs family was threatened and the lpc has undermined our democracy.
Not sure how Canadian tax payers can keep paying for speakers in the house not answer legitimate questions??? Our parliament business Question Period is a complete joke! When will the NDP stop being a coalition to all of this and get an election called!!!!
It benefits the NDP to work with the Liberal party on shared goals that they believe will benefit Canada and it's people as a whole. They effectively become the unofficial opposition to the Liberals as they are the ones that really have the power to hold the Liberals to account. Asking why they don't throw that away? and call an election that could weaken their position... Why would they want to do the Conservatives of all parties a favour? It's not like they share many values, or have a willingness to work with the NDP in the past.
@@dennisheyes4561 I agree for the most part with your comment except that the NDP are no different than the Liberals and substantively no different than the Conservatives, they are *all* neocons/neoliberals, there is effectively no difference between all the parties. FWIW, I've voted for every party at one point or another over my 50 years of voting but would be considered left by the definition that would have been used 50 years ago when the NDP were actually left, like Tommy Douglas. Now I'm considering voting for the People's Party, all the others are just clones and enablers of US hegemony and empire, the domestic policies of all parties is neoliberalism and bread and circuses as a distraction. *NO ONE* is asking the hard, relevant questions, who is lying to us and why!
The liberals trying to pretend they didnt know about the interference for 2 years.... Even though they 100% knew about the interference for 2 years and now look like incompetent liars... Unfortunately when called out as liars, the speekers panties get twisted
Our parliamentary system is based upon the ruling party having integrity. They have privileges such as appointing the speaker. When the ruling party has no integrity the speaker will not have either. Canadians who vote liberal should be ashamed as we watch democracy here be destroyed
If roles were reversed I am certain the Cons would simply tell the Libs to shut up and suck it up. You're not looking at it non-partisan and based upon behaviour. The past week has been far worse. The cons are out of line and should be told to sit down and shut up more often! Act like a damn professional, not a clown! Just because they don't get the answers they want (notice all the people commenting on that? the issue is the behaviour of the MP's, not a deflection "well the Libs never answer questions"). Not a valid argument for the con behaviour and if roles were reversed , they would be yelling at the Libs to shut up when someone is speaking.
The ruling party does not appoint the speaker. They are elected... the party with the most seats has the biggest say in whom is speaker is in many cases... when the opposition parties are divided. But the role of the speaker is non-partisan, they are basically only there to set the schedule and maintain proper decorum. Which the speaker was failing to do here. He should have thrown the obstructive parties out of the room. Speaker Rota is like a modern day parent. Unwilling to discipline the spoiled kids, and it basically encourages further misbehavior. Now that might be secretly his goal... to shine a spotlight on the opposition parties juvenile behavior. It's a trap modern conservative keep falling for, and it makes them look foolish in video's like this one.
Our parliamentary system is based on *BOTH* sides of the aisle having integrity, the problem is that like the US, politics has become tribal on *both* sides and no one is asking the relevant questions, questions like if Chong didn't know he was being coerced until two years later, was he really being coerced or is his a politically motivated leak that has no substance? Why was the investigation started in the first place, did CSIS not trust Chong because he was an ethnic Chinese? Who supplied information that might have initiated the investigation, was the veracity of the information checked and was there a political motivation for submitting the information? Why is no one, including all the sheeple not asking these questions?
our government is a bunch of stupid dorks who cant get anything right. This was caught 2 years ago, and only brought up after the media broke the news.
Ha yea I remember complaining to my buddy down in NYC about the Harper gov's foreign minister the dude with the pencil head Peter somethin. Anyways he was caught sleeping with a Chinese journalist with classified docu's in his room she was living out of. Told buddy about it, he says leave the guy alone he's doing a good job! He's having a foreign affair. Lmao
Honorable, my a$$, if Chong was honorable he'd have already pointed out that it's a bull$hit story as even he never knew he was being coerced. What is and was the CSIS agenda in starting the investigation and have they checked the veracity of any information they got? What was the conclusion and how was it arrived at? Who 'leaked' the information and why? I think CSIS has a lot more questions to answer than anyone else!
Sometimes when the Conservatives speak I laugh. All the red faces, huffing and puffing and arms flailing. How unprofessional. Oh, and the screaming and theatrics. The sky is falling. The sky is falling. They are absolutely hilarious as they look like a bunch of 4 year olds.
It's like they spend so much time in their extremist echo chambers. That they don't realize how Canadians outside think and act. They seem completely detatched from reality if they think being seen as immature whining children is in any way beneficial to them... I mean it's the same thing that cost Scheer the election, and O'Toole.
These conservatives don't seem to understand they don't own Canada if I was Mr. Speaker I would supened them for a year maybe then they will respect the house of commons.
When i was young, My Friend's and I would goto a Chinese Restaurant to get out of cold. We were poor. We would order deep fried eggroll for .49 cents and deep fried wontons with plum sauce for dip for .99 cents. We would split eggroll evenly and chew slowly. It was cold and boring outside. Sometimes this impromptu dinner would go on for 3 hours. We dreamed of the lucious , big plates of rice, and chicken balls, sweet and sour pork, all the good stuff was a dream, cause we was poor, like i keep sayin. One day, owner comes and starts bringing loads of chicken ball and rice and wing . ..just endless....free too .we took some home too. It was free. I guess someone cancel order. So we being regular customers receive good services from the Chinese People in Canada. They are good people, and I'm glad they are here. They are Canadians, and must be protected from CCP. I hate seeing bad remarks about Chinese Canadians. They are hard working people, and are the fabric of Canada. Respect.
I am sorry I should add I live in a province in Canada that seems to have alot economy problems with there economy...... I am tired of jumping job to job here in this province.
Not really, it's just that we are perpetual colonials, used to doing our masters' bidding.. No sooner was the constitution 'repatriated' than Mulroney jumped into bed with the USA. Now we can get out, in fact we are more 'continentalist' than the Americans. I think PET tried to break the pattern, but in a stupid way, by cozying up to Communists. In fact many Western countries thought that doing business with the PRC was a wonderful idea. But as Christ said, 'you cannot serve both God and wealth'.
In regards to some of these stupid comments below, the speaker is more for the conservatives than the liberals. He does nothing to stop the heckling of the ignorant conservatives. This is the first time he got a little backbone. Why should the members have no respect for the chamber, when they have no respect for themselves. We elect nodding bobbleheads without any semblance of decency, aka Miller
I'm not partisan, but in what regard are the Conservatices 'ignorant''? What precisely do they not know, which others are likely to know? Ignorance is little other than lack of knowledge, Sometimes it can be remedied by receipt of information, sometimes not. Of course a person might be knowledgeable in one department but ignorant in another. I know a few things but am ignorant of most things. Many people know a great deal more than I do, yet they too are ignorant of most things. I think you're making a number of assessments about people's attitudes or emotional states which are hard to verify without living between their ears. Most of us 'lack any semblance of decency' now and then. Far from being the 'other', politicians may 'represent' us more accurately than we think. (1st John 1:8) 'If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.'
To be fair Poilievre was a Reform party youth that was against the Progressive Conservatives. They are right-wing populism party, A western protest movement. That tries to hide behind the veneer of Conservatism. I wish we had an actual Conservative party, but they ended in 2003. Now they are Canada's version of MAGA.
In the meantime 19+countries have joined BRICS. Leaving the oil reserve currency, which currency is Canada coupled to? Canada has a Communist party, did you know poverty allieviation completed 10 yrs ago in China. CGTN The Point-Hub-Heat, RT, Telasur.
I did not know about those 19 additions. The original five werequite ill-matched already. In that case, BRICS has become Alphabet Soup, rather like the LGBTQ++ad infinitum movement. Unity through diversity? Yet the PRC cannot even stand Uyghurs having their own ethnic identity apart from the Han Chinese majority! What hypocritical, navel-gazing pseudo-globalists they are. Re: the alleged alleviation of poverty through Capitalist wage-slavery in so-called 'Communist' China, which sports so many billionaire plutocrats--------------------------------- read George Orwell's 'Animal Farm;, which is wonderfully amusing. Far better still, consider what JESUS CHRIST said: 'Not even when one has an abunfdance does his life consist of his possessions.' 'Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things [material necessities] will be added to you.' Finally: (Psalm 49:20, Hebrew Old Testament) 'Man in his pomp, yet without understanding, is like the beasts that perish.' P.S. The Communist Party of Canada was allied with the USSR until its demise, not with China. There was a Maoist party during the 1970s, but I do not think its allegiance remained with China once Deng Xiaoping took power. Mao was a despicable autocrat, and so is Xi Jinping. China (PRC) is the #1 imperialist threat on the world stage today.
The admiration is not reciprocated. Xi Jinping gave him a dressing-down, at G-20 if I am not mistaken. In Xi's opinion, everyone ought to follow his instructions at all times. What a tiresome fellow.
Wow zero neutrality from the speaker, he should be removed from his position immediately! Mr Chong had first hand experience on this matter and called out the liberals for lying to the public and attempting to gaslight him and this caused the speaker to “grill” the opposition/refuse to acknowledge one of their members. Meanwhile on two separate occasions our PM has told opposition members in the house to “F off” and nothing happened with the famous “I didn’t hear it” excuse. Won’t even go into the amount of times our PM has stood up and left in the middle of question period in order to refuse answering questions. What a joke…
How does Michael Chong have first hand experience on this matter, he didn't find out he was being coerced by the Chinese until two years later? Sorry, but I'm calling bull$hit on this story, I think the people that should be answering questions is CSIS, as to who initiated the investigation and why, what information was used and how was it verified or was it verified? Why was it 'leaked' and why has no investigation been done to find out who leaked it or was it an 'authorized' leak and who authorized it? Why is no one asking those questions, do you implicitly believe the 'intelligence' community, especially after Matt Taibbi's reporting on what is happening in the US and that CSIS is largely trained in the US to US ideology? Do you honestly trust CSIS which operates on the same principles as the CIA that, according to Pompeo, "We lied, we cheated, we stole!" How gullible are you?
What are they lying about ? I hope you dont support the government at this point . It is clear as day that china has interfered in our elections and in the procedings in the house which include votes in the house . There is no lie . Only the canadian government that continues to alow it to go on. Ask yourself why is the chineese diplomat aloud to continue in his position? The only reason i can think of is that the government wants to give him time to burn all documents that lead back to them and chneese interference . The libs sold canada to Beijing for power plain and simple a kindergarten could figure it out . Why cant you ?
Yes well Canadian court rooms don't allow recordings so we can't all witness the antics in there but this is like if someone made an objection and the judge over rules it and accuses the person that objected of contempt of court too I suppose. Often now we hear concerns were reported and nothing was done that's just getting to be "normal" now I guess.
What planet were you born on. All parties in power do this, it's telling the losing side where to go. When they are in power then they can make the decisions.
It is a dangerous situation My question is : why he still in the position of Leader of Canada ? Why the NDP holding hands with the Liberals, if we have a democratic Government and people during the elections haven't vote for NDP or Liberals ( meaning each of this two parties haven't received enough votes to stand , why is being giving the possibility of being in leadership?. Another thing ,silence Mr Pierre Poilievre won't stop the True!!!
Canadians don't vote for their Prime minister... Never have. You vote for your MP, and the party with the most seats picks the Prime minister. Collectively the "center-left" leaning parties of the NDP and Liberals represent the majority of seats in the House of Commons, and the majority of Canadian voters as well. That's what happens when a PM is elected to a minority government. They must work together with other parties. This is actually a good thing. Compromise, being forces co-operation between parties of different ideologies makes for a better country overall. It prevents a single dictator party with majority control that feels they can do whatever they want.
The Libs sound so out of touch with the concerns of the poor and the struggling, they have such a sense of entitlement, and at least rhetorically I see slight convergence between Conservatives and NDP on those issues. Too bad that they are poorly aligned on policy. But this is not the first time I've thought about the advisability of limited Right-Left cooperation, just a different way of aiming for middle ground. It doesn't hurt me any because I'm non-partisan and have opted out of the so-called democratic process for nearly 20 years. I used to vote Liberal at one time, but hated their increasing rejection of Christian principles, which is now par for the course across the spectrum. Anyway, it would be foolish to assume that one 'team' has all the answers. But that does seem to be the Libs' current assumption.
@@marcusonesimus3400 Libs and Cons are two sides of the same coin. Both pandering to wealthy donors while claiming to support the poor (cons) or middle class (libs). Ideologically the NDP support the poor and unions as a democratic socialist party, but it's hard to say if they would actually follow through if elected, or if it's just empty words like the others... NDP and Cons are diametrically opposite parties ideologically. With one being for free market Capitalism and the other Democratic Socialism. One fighting for unions while the other fights to destroy unions. The Libs and Cons are technically closer in policy and ideology than the NDP and Cons are. The old PC party (center-right) had moments where they would work with other parties, but since they were assimilated by the Reform party their ideology has shifted from center-right progressive conservative to a right-wing populism party. The idea of populism is the people fighting a tyrannical and oppressive government. Such a party is not likely to work with other parties because it undermines the message that their political opponents are the enemy. Christianity has been on the decline in Canada since the 1970's. It makes sense that with only 54% of the population self identifying as some kind of Christian on government census, that political parties would eventually start to distance themselves from it, as it shifts from asset to a potential political liability. I agree that they should work together. The less political partisanship the better, and would love to see more independents that don't blindly follow narrow party lines, but actually think for themselves. Unfortunately that is not likely with current first-past-the-post voting system. 😞
@@dennisheyes4561 I agree with your opinion of the two leading parties, but I turned against social democracy some time ago because , for the most part, its outlook on life is too materialistic. That makes three of a kind. The BQ and Greens are a little different, but their focus tends to be narrow. Now unlike European parties the NDP never was Marxist except in the most watered-down, revisionist sense. But the idea of history as the product of clashes between economic interest groups is very much present. Class struggle is a reality which can't be ignored in any era, but as a Christian i consider spiritual conflict in the invisible realm as the most important factor in historical change. Spiritual forces are evident in economic and social life, not just 'religion'. My preference is for 'social market' ideology which accepts capitalism as an unavoidable fact but considers gov't regulation very important to limit the power of monopolies and protect labor, consumers, and environment. The purpose of economic development should be the satisfaction of human need, never profit as an end in itself. I think social democrats have been most successful pushing reforms in specific areas like healthcare or minimum wage reforms, which appeal to a lot of people across th1 spectrum. As a native of Saskatchewan I'm quite proud of what was accomplished there under NDP leadership, how public medicine went national after that.
I agree their behaviour detracts from the message they are trying to put out, and they don't even seem aware of how they come off to people outside of the echo chambers. I hope they can find some shred of the old semi-respectable progressive conservative party within them, because the Reform party manifesto they have been running with is not going to fool people for long.
