@yozora55555

Tbh I would most def get rid of the ugly wallpaper, but the wood would be left untouched. The kitchen most def needs to be revamped with new cabinets and counter tops, ones that would preferably match the woodwork of the rest of the house. You'd also have to take into consideration potential led pipes and asbestos.
@raymondhutchinson7156
@raymondhutchinson7156 3 года назад
@@yozora55555 Yeh , I don't think that wall paper matches the period. Most arts and crafts wallpapers had geometric floral designs or scenes of nature. The overall period of arts and crafts was a reaction against the industrialization of the time. If the kitchen is redone, it should take into consideration the period and try to match it while still being serviceable to modern needs. I can imagine new wood cabinets with a medium stain to match the homes paneling .Mabey a subway tile backsplash that is either a green color to match the front fireplace ,any earthy color ,or white.
@raymondhutchinson7156
@raymondhutchinson7156 3 года назад
I can understand a condition where there is not much left of an original bathroom, but why do people modernize historic bathrooms. At least try and match the style and character of the home, maybe even look at architectural salvage shops for period fixtures (plumbing, electrical, tile).
@raymondhutchinson7156
@raymondhutchinson7156 3 года назад
In a renovation, they still produce some of that floor tile designs. Some classic style tiles are even cheaper than those in fashion . There are also plenty of restoration oriented companies that will reproduce historic features for homes .

What a wonderfully preserved example of Prairie Style design. There should be a preservation easement on both the interior and exterior of this house so no future owner can destroy the historic features. The original bathrooms are just so rare nowadays, I hope someone in preservation is photographing and documenting the unglazed porcelain floor tile mosaic designs, the fixtures, and the bathroom “jewelry”, those original towel bars, cup holders and sconces. Maybe she can write a book on historic architecture or start a website in collaboration with a college architecture student or a historical society or the like photographing and documenting all these wonderful homes!

Can you just imagine what went into building that masterpiece?!! I'd love to go back in time and let the original owners know how long their home would last and how well taken care of it remains. I'd also love to buy it, remove the 90s wallpaper and curtains, paint it a nice oatmeal or vanilla color throughout that's complimentary to all the gorgeous wood and take really good care of all original materials. I assume the storm window hangers are also still on the exterior window frames. Fabulous. Prairie Style is Frank Lloyd Wright. The nook the perfect Wright touch. Very influential in my life, the perfect home. Or not Wright? Magnificent.

That house is beautiful and has been so well loved by the people who have lived in it. Shocked at the price - what an absolute steal. I hope it doesn't get destroyed by "renovations" that aren't needed.

Up in Alberta, Canada, $225,000 would fetch you a run down shack in the rough part of town. HOW IS THIS HOUSE PRICED LIKE THAT?!?!?! 🤯😭

Oh my gosh! I grew up in a Prairie Style home In KC! It was mayor Brice Smith’s home. It was gorgeous, but it was 1921. It was on the Hyde Park home tour. ❤

The metal doesn’t have the pinkish tone of copper, nor the patina it gets when it ages. This looks much closer to bronze. Beauteous house, but when I heard where it is in AR, you couldn’t pay me enough to live in the Arkansas Delta. I got away from SE IL & SW MO because of the climate. Holy kacholy.

My word the price! I cannot believe how cheap it is! Where I live 224,000 would get you a garden shed…almost literally. Man, the real oak wood…to die for! 😩

My dream home. I've loved this style architecture for many years, and the price for this house is amazingly good considering how many details are original to the place.

Omg, the price! Are you sure it’s not haunted? Lol we found a townhouse that’s probably a fourth of the size and about $10k more. That house is definitely a steal. Hope the new owners take care and appreciate it.

I would love to know who the architect and builder were? Sadly have to hear her say FLW inspired. This is possibly better than Wrights examples of the style. The painted and wallpapered plaster work might have been original in some cases but I would have loved it with the original earth tone horsehair plasterwork. Still unquestionably a masterpiece. She is an incredibly talented tour guide.

What a beautiful house. Has anyone complained about ghosts in these old houses? I was skeptical, until I lived in an 1841 house in the country. I lived there a grand total of three months and had to move out. There was a double murder and suicide in the house. Too creepy.

Just bingeing on your amazing video's, did anyone else hear the echo of Front Door on this?? I had also just watched your ghost experience vid so maybe I am hearing things, had to rerun it a few times, its not your voice Laine, or did Kevin do that on purpose during editing??

Jeez, that perfect masterpiece with all the wood and tile and fixtures - in Seattle you'd be looking at a few million for that place. You can't get a one bedroom condo for that price in Seattle. Of course, there are a lot of perks to living in the Pacific Northwest, but still . . . at that price . . .

Why didn’t the sellers ask ask more for the house? In this market they could have got a lot for it. The buyers from California will love the house. Lucky find for them.
