Unfortunately y’all know whenever there’s a group of black people in one area it’s automatically considered hood or gang related. That’s why I like this channel. Real talk, coming from the Detroit area myself (Ypsi, currently in Grand Rapids) I get more and more excited to get there with every video I watch.

Brandon Wright, this isn’t that scenario and isn’t always the case in the general terms I was referring to. All throughout this video they talk about how the area has a reputation for being hood and dangerous, only to find that it isn’t the case, but rather just has a high population of black people.

It's considered hood or dangerous in AZ if it's a higher crime area and it's not because Black people live there it's usually because it's a newer developed neighborhood built around an older drug infested area where your car or home is more likely to get broken into. For instance I stay in a newer development built around an older neighborhood in El Mirage, AZ which to me is a nice area but if I literally walk across the main street by my house I'll be in Surprise, AZ which is considered a lower crime area and your insurance is cheaper there and like I said it's literally across the street from El Mirage where your insurance will cost more because it's considered a higher crime area.

Nice to hear that people are moving to the southwest desert from the cold Midwest. I would. The topography is inviting, too. High desert beauty instead of man made brick buildings covered in gray acid rain soot is in unhealthy to the naked eye. Diversity is the spice to living. I'm a 62 year old Mexican woman who enjoys all people. Nice commentary by the young couple.

Most of these rents really are frustrating. I know the cons of buying is house maintenance, replacing appliances, etc. But still, I would rather buy. When he said $900 for 1 bedroom I just shook my head.

@@Gunngirl I have home owners insurance that covers appliances, electric, and everything and it's in the monthly mortgage. My rent was 1700 a month, my mortgage is 1400.

I lived in Avondale several years ago. I really like it. Fortunately, my job was in west Phoenix and I could just take McDowell Rd. (avoided I-10 like the plague during rush hour). I think that the west Valley is highly underrated. You get almost twice as much for your money in Avondale, and it's very nice! And there is something to be said for living closer to Phoenix. Big Super, I've only seen two of your videos and I'm thinkin' about likin' 'em! :)

That's is what the majority of America is segregated...cant knock those that didn't make this current system. AZ is a outlier for black folks..no real numbers so you not going to get much racism.

Wow amazing I'm so happy I came across this video I currently stay in South Phoenix and I miss California so much but this couple was absolutely right I need to learn how to adjust just because I'm not seeing what I'm used to I miss the hood I really do but I think I want to give it some more time before I just pack up and go to California... Great video... I really enjoyed it. I am glad he was super honest. Ya, and I am happy he didn't bring Detroit attitude with him. I am from NY, and Arizona is really relaxed, and can let your guard down and have fun with other people from other cultures. No one should judge others based on their skin or culture. It’s good to see more culture when I first started visiting Phoenix in 2009 around that time ... Bobby Cs was the spot this is where the black brown tan hung out...I lived in Chandler for a year worked in Ahwatukee which was a resort to me...beautiful...Chandler is beautiful on the other side of the Mall not towards downtown Chandler That wasn’t too great....in my opinion...HOT!!!!!!! Air on blast all day...shopping is good...etc...just have to get use to that desert life I’m from NY live in Atlanta...became physically ill being in the desert...sometimes it doesn’t always agree...but AZ is Beautiful to me...glad to see more of us coming through doing great things...sweet....🎈

I use to live there also in 2007. on 9452 W. Jamestown Rd. I loved the house. didn't stay there long. Too hot! I purchased the house new. It is actually 2730 SQ FT. Loved it. I paid $257K New. Sold it 6 months later for $295.K. I saw the Market was about to drop. Loved the area/ I watched the Stadium being built. I was coming from California. Housing had gone through the roof. I loved it there. Great BBQ there. How is this area now??? I purchased there because it was a closed in pocket, that was between 2 freeway exits. and around the corner from the house was a hospital. I thought it would be a great investment.
