Wow! Very impressive. Great attention to detail, including relating to both the history of the house and the homeowners' past. Very thoughtful. Nice that the homeowner sought input from the previous owner's daughter. And... it is not granny-like at all! Also, kudos to the homeowner for being so articulate (no "ums" or "uhs"!). I'd like to see more of this architect's work -- architecture, interior design, and landscape design. Terrific.
The architect and his husband have serious talent! They have walked a fine line in keeping the home's original style while updating it to today's standards. It isn't over the top at all. Just serious good design! Stunning!!!
💫~Magnificient!! This home is just packed with serious style! I don't even know how they brought this into reality; it is seriously "stunning" at every turn! 5⭐
What a beautiful home, so many beautiful details missed simply because there’s just so much to talk about. These owners should be so proud of themselves. We need another episode somehow. I’m just so in love 😍
I’m not American, but I love when Americans get inspired by their own design history. They have had a huge influence on all things design throughout the 20th century up to now.
I just had to come back and comment again. This house is absolutely STUNNING! It’s just breathtaking. The attention to detail and the uniqueness of it makes it one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever laid eyes on.
So similar to the house my parents built in SoCal in 1965. From the windows, doors, cabinets, angled sofa, lounger, terrazzo floors. Beautiful! Tears in my eyes❤
I came of age in the 70s so somewhere would appreciate that era. But what I most appreciated about this home is there no to the prior owners in the original design. He’s done a beautiful job. my childhood home of 68 years is currently on the market in California. It would warm my heart if the new owners asked me about the history of my home.❤
This house is amazing & how he has kept it true to the 1970’s, is mind boggling, being an architect does help a lot, I feel the need to put a kaftan on& glide through this house, love the black& white. Well done 👏👏👏
Love the home. Beautiful reno/remodel. Great mix of nostalgia and modern. Brought me back to my youth in the 50s and 60s. He has a great sense of style.
That living room! I adore mid century sophistication and this stunning home has been updated to perfection. The center, u shaped terrace brought to mind the fabulous atrium of the late Betsy Bloomingdale in So Cal, eventually purchased by Tom Ford who also got into restoring some ‘70’s homes, among his gazillion properties. 😊. I love the elegance of the materials, colors and nod to an era of gracious living, ala the Kennedy’s blessing the bar! It’s a wonderful gift to impart such a sense of luxury while keeping a home warm and kid friendly. And I love the incredible sense of unending space this chic floor plan offers, punctuated by small shifts in levels to define and create interest. I hope that more gifted architects will bring forth the beauty of this style, as Eddie has, with refinement, exquisite taste and (of course) green, palm wallpaper to transport one to the Beverly Hills Hotel for a little getaway! Thank you, Homeworthy! And Happy Thanksgiving to Eddie and his family.
I am typically not a fan of homes from the 70s, but this one is an exception! The homeowners have successfully retained many cool, original details, and they have also brought in modern decor that looks great and works for a family. Such a lovely home! Thank you for the tour! ❤
This place sneaks up on you. Despite the high ceilings , high doorways, and rambling footprint, it is down to earth and casual, and the colors whisper. It definitely feels Mad Men and fun!🙂🙂💯❤️
Wow! I have walked by the house a thousand times and wondered what surprises the inside held. It did not disappoint. They have done an amazing job! Love it all.
I love everything about this incredible home! 30:43 I think that it's a cow, not a bull because it has four nipples hanging down so that its calfs can drink milk. A bull would have male parts like the bull on Wall Street. I love the piece no matter what you want to call it. I wish that my husband and I had an amazing eye for design like Eddie does!
Gorgeous - Eddie and his husband have created a stunning home. Those terrazzo floors ❤❤❤❤ Also, Eddie should never doubt his great taste…the pieces he’s collected and skillfully combined are all brilliant and tell authentic stories…that’s the sign of real style and talent. Buying a whole bunch of new trendy stuff and putting it in a room is the opposite.
I loved how the house was brought back from the ‘70s , but in the same time kept ITS best features from that period! You can see this was a labor of love !
I absolutely love this home and really enjoyed the tour. The backyard is very inspirational too. My sister (who is not into decorating) was here visiting while I put this episode on and wondering why anyone would show their home to strangers and criticized those who do so- once I explained to her that people (like myself) who love decorating with a passion, who spend so much of their time searching for those special pieces to decorate their home with love amd look forward to sharing their love and pride of home with others to help inspire and share ideas she actually was amazed with my explanation of why people do tours and watched TWO episodes with me😀 She asked where are people’s books? Doesn’t anyone read anymore? So I showed her the episode of the two men in a NY apartment who treasure all their books and dog- she liked it (although she wouldn’t admit it lol)
A beautiful reframing of the past that boldly states creative livability. To me, it has a bit of an homage to Frank Lloyd Wright..strong horizontal lines. I love it. Fabulous work.
Love this channel 🏛️ If I had millions of dollars I would hire him to build my house. And then ask him to move in with me.😁 Let gay men have interior. Straight men can keep sport. 😄 Best wishes from Norway
YES. Me too. I am a 70 year old married grandmother. I love his design ethic, his housekeeping, his passion, and he likes to entertain. My sort of man?????
The bovine is a cow, not a bull. Otherwise, I liked the house and the master bedroom (why do two gay men fall for the term primary over master?). The yard is inviting. Thanks for sharing.
"Master" has fallen out of favor both for racist and sexist connotations. As an architect he is probably aware that nowadays professionals call it the primary bedroom/bathroom.
Architect Eddie Maestri and family thank you for sharing with the world your luxury house. Luxury not because your have very expensive objects but because with your personal collection of furniture, piece of art, things from your family all together makes the house (beautiful too) look for me elegant, chick, luxuries. But but at the same time is comfortable, inviting and feel it’s a family house, friends gathering home and lot of dads personal private spots. Saving the video: lot to learn and loveeeee architects houses.❤🎉 love from 🇯🇵
this is my mcm dream! wow! couple things I wondered was what it looked like before- you should start incorporating "before" pics (if they are into it!)- and how does the other husband feel about the place now?!?! I love Eddie's sketches! I loved that striped bull! but boy, that outside space is stunning. I would feel like I lived in a vacation spot. great episode!
This is one of my favorite Homeworthy videos! Very interesting to get an architect's POV on his house. Loved his spirit. Very Bauhaus, gesamtkunstwerk ideas about home, art, landscape in total -- loved it!!!
Beautiful! The house, furniture, decor, etc. have a lot of personality. It does feel collected and not copy and paste type of decorating. Well done. Thank you for sharing your home.
Finally someone with the right car😉 Beautiful house with all this stunning woodwork! And I like that they talked to the former owners to get all the information about the history. Very respectful. They did very well with everything👍Thanks a lot and greetings from Germany 😊
I love this home! Not just because I'm a fan of mid-century modern, but because the design & decor reflect Mr. Maestri's (& his families') personality & vision. I also love his holistic approach to architecture/home design projects.
What a beautiful home. That terrazzo floor is incredible. Each room is so well curated. Even the light switches are wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous home with us.
