I don't think that I've ever liked someone as quickly as I like this man. Both his sense of style and sense of humor are refreshing. The touches of color throughout his home are inviting. His sofa area looks so comfortable and the idea to put them on risers is genius. I wasn't expecting to want to take notes as much as I did while watching this video. I also didn't expect to tear up when he was talking about his loss. My condolences on his loss.
I think this is the most beautiful home tour I have ever seen. Alvin's reflections at the end made me cry. What a beautiful way to look at grief and home decor. Nice to watch a home tour with some depth and not just about superficial asthetics.
Most designers leave me cold, but Alvin is so warm and inviting and his apartment design reflects that so beautifully. There I s so much going on in patterns and textures yet somehow it becomes a symphony of calmness and discovery to me. I can’t explain it well but I could live happily with all his choices, except the storage oven. Alvin is a genius!
This has to be one of, if not the best, video that you all have put out in some time. Alvin's design style and philosophy is magnetic and personable and lived in, but still stylish and forward. What a wonderful guy, too. Took lots of mental notes and feel so inspired to update parts of my space that aren't suiting me yet.
I’m stunned by his talent for mixing styles, colors, & textures…with intention and thought!! And thank you for sharing your thoughts on how you deal with grief. It’s not talked about enough. The whole video was like a healing visit with a friend.
This is the sweetest place. It's noisy, quiet, soothing, peaceful, serious, and fun at the same time. The best of all worlds. What a precious man. Thank you for sharing this quite inspirational tour.
This is the most heartfelt apartment tour I’ve ever seen. His style inspiration and originality really makes sense. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
I don’t know this man from a can of paint but we are now friends. Nah, we’re family now. I just love his energy. He’s the uncle I wish I had growing up
What a wonderful space and wonderful creator! I like his sense of style, his aesthetic, his philosophy. And thank you for the before/after shots from your previous tour, that was a great chance to see that he truly has improved upon what was already a beautifully designed space....he just made it more inviting to guests, more luscious and comfy at the same time!
I couldn't stop watching!! I love your design esthetic--especially in a smaller space. Beautiful. Your choice of wallpaper for each area is SO appealing. Very very inspiring!!!
Not only is this apartment stunning, Alvin is just gorgeous. So stylish, warm, authentic and funny. The adage of one's home is one's castle is so evident here. The space adores Alvin, and vice versa. Bravo xx.
I love this apartment. Phenomenal design in every room. My sincere condolences on the loss of his loved ones. I love when he said "home is a love letter to yourself". Mr. Wayne's apartment is a reflection of that. Thank you Apartment Therapy for bringing us another masterpiece.
Love, love, love the accent walls in every room! It’s like each room has its own story to tell. The feeling that you get when you walk into your home should feel like you never want to leave it. #enjoyhome 😊
When my grandparents died, I changed forever. I completely feel where you are coming from and thank you for making me not feel so alone in that. You do have to navigate life differently and be able to move on. I am still trying. Your home is exquisite and the most romantic love letter you could write ❤
he's one of the designers on architectural digest's space savers series! love his apartment, it's stylish yet still cozy. also, the unit itself looks like mai pham's old apartment that she just moved out of so i wonder if this is in the same building...
I remember that green banquette! I was in love with the space before he re-designed it, but it's absolutely fantastic now. The mix of modern with the pastoral wall paper in the dining room is stunning! And the neon sign...what a score. Love it all!
Loved the interactions, dialogue, and explanations. It's nice to see the updates Alvin made to the space...and it's been nice seeing Alvin featured in home styling projects (for brands and companies) over the past year!
nah bc he made me cry...you can tell he is a very genuine and down to earth human being. i love how thoughtful he is with his home. you can tell it is because he cares that his guests are comfortable and happy
"Home is a love letter to yourself"...what a beautiful concept 😍 I love the mix of styles and color. It feels fun and inviting at the same time. Embracing change and recognizing when you've changed are some of the most difficult and tender parts of life. Thank you for sharing your space and your story 🙏
This was an excellent video. Losing those you love, especially those woven in your heart does change you. It makes sense to change your environment. I went on a "cozy up my home" binge. Ambient lighting, pillows, soft throws, plants, a small wing back chair in my master bedroom etc. It has helped.
What an inspiration he is! I could listen to him all day. The way he spoke about his home and life, touched me deeply. I will remember him always. I became very ill, which changed my life. I want to make my room more comfortable, where I spend my days and nights. I want to refresh it. I think I can do that now. He helped me get started. God bless him...❤
Love it - and the new design is such an improvement over the old one! With the old design, I really noticed the pillar in the corner of the living room, but with the new design I really did not see it at all - something about the placement of the furniture made it blend right in. Also love the mix of materials and finishes - brilliantly done. It feels warm and inviting just like he said.
I’m watching this and I am so genuinely touched and inspired seeing Alvin share and express his life through art in his home. I truly believe art is a spiritual expression or how we express our highest self. It goes beyond age, race, gender, socioeconomic background etc., yet we all can feel and appreciate it. Thank you for sharing it with us! 🙏🏽❤
I love Alvin Wayne's work. His space is beautiful but I actually prefer the previous design he did. I was obsessed with that look. I love his 2021 holiday apt tour. So gorgeous.
When Alvin talked about losing family I was so touched. "Home is a love letter to yourself" when you live on your own is really pretty profound. Thank you Alvin ❤
I love the way he offered her a cocktail as she walked in the door:-) Nice place! I also liked the fact that he admitted if something doesn't work the first time try again:-) 🧚✨💫
he did a wonderful job...there is so much balance in his space- light/dark; soft/hard; bold/understated...lovely lovely lovely. Def one of my favs on apt therapy
I’ve watched so many videos on this channel, this by far is my favourite! The decor is brilliant but the man behind it all touched my heart! His home is so welcoming and lovely, he’s someone you think… ‘ I would love to spend time with this person’ !! Great video and I wish him all the best from England! 🥰🥰🥰😘
Isn't that a lovely way to think about our homes? My condolences on your loss but am truely inspired by the way you're dealing with it. All good blessings to you.
Alvin is so warm and kind hearted, wanting his friends to be as comfortable in his home as he is (sorry, I'm not sure of pronouns!). What a lovely person and a beautiful home!
Wow! Most interior designers I've seen are cocky but this guy... It seems that he loves every house he designs! And I also love his interpretation of coffee 😄
wow, what an expressive, luxurious, and masculine apartment! as soon as you walk in and see the neon sign, you feel the person who lives here really loves city life. i love the homages to urban pop art with the skateboards and paint cans... they add this element of expressiveness to an apartment that evokes a mature masculinity. everything about this apartment also evokes a man who has achieved a lot in his life. it's cool to see how a backdrop of luxury can blend with so many vibrant artistic expressions. this man's sense of decor shows you don't have to sacrifice class for expressiveness. one of my favorite apartments in a while because it's so unique! he also has such an inviting, warm personality. love it!
I want to be his friend so badly… I am an art Director in Los Angeles and to be quite honest, A lot of these apartment tours make me wince a little with the clutter in the and the forced quirkiness ..this home is stunning, And incredibly thoughtful… it was such a joy to listen to his process.
I love this designer! He has captured his soul and philosophy with his design and now I want more. Now I want to redecorate my home and emulate his style.
I thought this was a repeat video, but Alvin changed it up on us! I'm so jealous of his creative style (and bank account) to change out his interior, so often!
Wow. That really got me at the end. I'm in the process of changing my space for similar reasons and this tour really spoke to me on so many levels. Plus that wall paper in the dining room. LOVE it. So glad I watched this particular tour on this particular night. Thank you for sharing!
What he said at the end about losing his family members and learning to live without his close relative, and his life is completely different. Because he evolved, his space has evolves. He is becoming a new person. Not being afraid to change. This really inspired me. In certain areas, I am far more willing to change, but in other ways, I don't want to change. When I was younger, I was always looking forward, even now, oftentimes I look toward a better future, but what I have neglected is making the present the best time of my life. I'm 53 and I find that in the past year or two, I've been looking back a lot. (missing my favorite uncle who passed away last year and my grandparents, and others) Looking at his home space and hearing his philosophy just made me think about having dinner parties and inviting friends to my home, which I haven't done in years. I began renovating my kitchen, but never finished it. Now, I'm inspired to finish decorating my house. I'm even going to use wallpaper at the end of my upstairs hallway and maybe put a mirror in, as he dd!! I grew up in the 70's, and my mother really decorates beautifully, so I grew up with wallpaper, but I never heard of peel and stick wallpaper, so I'm going to try it. And I may try wallpaper in my half bathroom, something really daring, yet classic to make it like a little jewel box, (or at least give it a little bling) that becomes a surprise when you walk into it!. Alvin's space feels so luxurious and is modern, yet reminds me of the 70's with the colors. (The sofas/chairs seem like a 50's or 60's sofa, but I am not very familiar with that sort of thing). Anyway, it is all just so inviting. I think that banquette color green would look fabulous with the dining room wallpaper, but I understand if it wasn't actually practical and the boucle seating is beautiful! (Wouldn't stay cream in my house for very long for a dining room, but so beautiful). Someone else said they were taking notes, me too. I'm going to try that contact paper on my old kitchen cabinets and use them in my basement to make an actual laundry room. I like that gold!.. Lots of great tips. I need you man!!
Well done. I love the fun wall paper. Love that your apartment represents your personality. I am over seeing “showroom” homes, with no life or color. I also love that you use fresh florals and plants, it really makes a big difference and brings life into your space.❤
The bold sofa space was impressive. The arrangement of the colors is very attractive. The furniture in every space is stable and the appropriate flower decoration is soothing. 🤩
"Small spaces should make a statement" ... yessss, perfecto. The vibe is fierce, bold and captures your grit. Clever elements & use of materials to make it your happy comfort zone. Well done! May your world always be a lens that frames change 😊
Love love love looooove the new take on Alvins home. I had seen his place how it looked previously and loved it, but this new take on eclectic modern warm stylish yet livable decoration is gorgeous! Congratulations!!
Your home is STUNNING...I'm in LOVE. And what a lovely man:) My friend, I'm praying for you today...for strength on the journey of grief. Its a journey I'm familiar with yet I have found joy again. I pray that you are surrounded by love, solace, and contentment🙏❤️
You seem to be such a creative, kind, and hospitable person. I am so sorry for your loss of close family members. I loved the saying that "home is a love letter to yourself." Thank you for the inspiration.
BRAVO! What a gorgeous space! Varied but has flow, I LOVE the pictograph console, wallpapers and the chandelier hanging over your dining are!!! You hit the nail on the head with banquet seating. It looks nice but what a pain for guest to get up and move when they want. Individual chairs all the way. When you have beauty, comfort and TRUE function you have the satisfaction that as a designer, you have ticked all of the boxes.
Love love love.. and OMG.. i can't believe you cut the background of the graffiti wallpaper.. quick thinking and precise.. i would have never known. Keep it up!
I like Alvin Wayne's apartment- It is very masculine and comfortable. I love his use of textures that "marry" well together. I laughed when I saw he stored items in his oven. He is truly a man after my heart. I also hate cooking. Great video.
