A cleaning lady got the surprise of her lifetime, forcing her to put down her mop and pick up a glass of champagne instead. Cara Simmons, a single mother-of-three from Cleveland, Ohio, recently received a surprise visit from Prank It Forward - an organization dedicated to doing 'pranks for good'. She was secretly filmed as she was sent to a house to clean it, before being told the four-bedroom property, pictured bottom right, was hers to keep 'forever', pictured left. She was nominated for the honor after family members paid tribute to her hard work raising four children, pictured with her top right.

Who likes to eat alone? Cara was amazed every step of the way...food, massage, clothes. Unpacking, she said, "These are my items. Where did you get...?" Something's up when three kids jump out of the moving truck. Now, who's gonna babysit them when mom and auntie are on vacay? Maybe cleaning boss will step in to help care for the children?

Mira Parker I don't know about that. The cost associated with owning a home that size is not cheap. Once you think about utilities every month, home owners insurance, $1000s in property taxes every year, etc. I seriously doubt a single mother can keep up with that. That's what I hate about these shows like this, they make it look so great and they're helping the family so much when they're actually putting them in a worse situation. If she is lucky she can sell the house but that's usually after they're already in financial ruins and have no choice. Look up the people that were given homes on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Look how they turned out. Most say it was the worst mistake they had ever made. Sad.

First Name: Katy the average annual tax for Ohio based on the average home price is 2k. The average home insurance cost is about $800 for the year. I don’t live in Ohio but regardless of whether you rent or own, you still pay utilities around here so it’s likely she was already paying money in utilities either way though it may be more now that she owns. Of course there’s other costs like maintenance etc but that’s still huge savings from the average cost of $1100 for an 800 square foot apartment in Cleveland, Ohio which is too small for her and her kids anyway. So I still think it significantly helps her financial picture even if she chooses to sell and we don’t know if they included things like property tax with the house.

That lady is absolutely amazing. She may be a single mom doing everything on her own. But she is absolutely killing it. When she is eating and says I wish there was someone else here to share this with. I absolutely lost it 😭. What character. Totally unselfish. I only agree. 50% but success or failure comes from within not just being handed things no matter how deserving. I am especially happy for her fortune, gifts. But I don't believe success is based on where you live and what your given. I have not had a easy life and have grafted for everything I have. No mummy or Daddy to the rescue, friends or family or strangers. I built my own success like so many others. To have a better life in my adulthood. But that takes determination, bumps and knocks along the way and a desire to do better for yourself despite the circumstances. But it is really nice to see someone helped along the way that is deserving not privileged, like the many that take their privileged circumstances for granted.

Going to be tough to pass it down as she doesn't own the property. NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES OF GREATER CLEVELAND, INC owns the property and it was never deeded/titled over to there. $4836.02 annual property taxes.

Is it bad that I watch this video every time things get hard? I find that watching such a truly selfless woman who gives FAR more than she takes just lights up my own life. So when I'm feeling like the world isn't beautiful anymore or I'm feeling sad Cara and the light of her spirit makes my world ok again. I wish we could have a follow up video to know how she and her family are doing. Even her children have such giving spirits and I hope their lives are continuing to be blessed as her story has been a blessing for all of us.

The irony often times with people like Cara is that they become so accustomed to giving that to receive can be a difficult proposition at times. Just listen as she sits to eat this amazing food: "I wish I could share this with someone." Selflessness is not taught, but rather inherent with people like her. These are the people who deserve to be compensated for their selfless nature.

the bigger irony is that the employers are so wealthy that they can give all this stuff away.. while they pay their cleaner so little that she is basically working herself to death to make ends meet. That woman paid for all she got by being paid extortionate low level wages. If they hatd just paid her like 200% of what she makes now she could afford her bills and work a normal 40 hours.

For everyone worried about her property taxes, don't. This is in Cleveland. A nice renovated home that's 4 or 5 bedrooms like that can be had for $150k easily. It's extremely unlikely that it was more than $200k. Depending on the district, the property taxes for a $200k house would be anywhere from $3k to $6k per year ($250 to $500 per month) Average rent in that city for a 1bdrm is $559 - $1,153, so no matter what, she's paying less than she already was.

@@ek07305 The property tax is still cheaper than local rent, and she already has to pay utility bills anyway. The house is probably full of a bunch of heating that she can't afford, but she can just turn all that off and use the stove like she probably does already. And if she still has money troubles, those two older girls look like they're almost old enough to go to college, so she can rent out their rooms for extra money when they do.

Honestly I understand at a personal level having a mother who is a house keeper and has been in and our of hospital due to exhaustion. Im so happy to see that She was blessed with a house for her kids and a well deserved day off 😭♥️
