@@MoonAnimehere's hoping. Beastars was pretty amazing, and frankly, the new Trigun was also awesome. But, yeah, I absolutely need more Land of the Lustrous. There is so much more manga to be adapted and honestly I want Studio Orange to do it!
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the reason it’s not getting a season 2 is simply because there’s nobody willing to back it. If Orange were hired to do a season 2 of Houseki no Kuni they would probably love to, but that just hasn’t happened, and is not likely to happen. Even knowing that, I still have hope it’ll happen eventually.
Houseki is a clear example on how respecting the original material style and aesthetic, with the wonders of technology, can make something so wonderful! Thanks for the analysis!

Houseki no kuni is one of my favourite pieces of writing, cinematography and camerawork, world building and art style i’ve seen and i NEED MORE SEASONS AAAAAAA
And another element that greatly contributes though often getting overlooked is the amazing ost. From the visuals to the music, it's obvious that every little piece of this anime was done with amazing care.
beastars is just as beautifully animated! although some effects they use are a bit questionable, I find that the facial expressions and the subtle gestures are far, far better (given that the characters don't even have human faces)
I'm a little late to the original party but, since I also work with 3D models, I could tell this was 3D animated by some of the scenes that stuck it out to me, but its so well done, I feel that some people wouldn't actually think its 3D on first glance. I normally stayed away from 3D anime cause it kinda was, weird to me. But then when I first saw a gif from this anime 3 years ago, I wanted to find it, and when I did. I really enjoyed it. I'd say, I'd recommend this anime to others.
Never too late~ Houseki no Kuni is both worth watching and studying for a long time to come. I wish the technical aspects of it helps with your work! 😊 If you're keen on more 3D goodness, I'd recommend a movie that I've watched recently called Rakuen Tsuihou (Expelled from Paradise).
i'm honestly really hoping for a season two.. i honestly think it will happen sense well... there's less popular animes with more seasons and honestly i am hopefull, with the manga off hiatus now and the fandom picking of traction again i think it is possible like houseki isn't as popular as lets say beastars, but if ur show is popular enough to have lots of ocs in the first place then i think that's worth investing in.. i'm willing to wait as ik animation with anything takes a long ass time... i just want it at all lol we just gotta wait and see
Oh yeah look at all these older anime suddenly getting a second wind these days! Panty & Stocking, Trigun, Spice & Wolf. With fans so passionate about it, I totally can see it happening.

BTW concerning the expressions and details, they have also done a pass over with 2D animation whenever there was very close-ups And the story is following that of the manga, while I agree loosing young phos is sad, it's part of the story
Yeah the innocence of Phos was fleeting. I suppose it's partly why they went all the way to express her. So that when she changed, it was more gutting 🥲

seriously, a second and third season would be astounding.. and a fourth season would be a great finale... i dont know how much is left for the manga, or where is going to go now, but the manga i samazing, and this season only imporved on something that was already amazing.
I too, hope they continue making it. Given how much time they spent on the tech for this show, it's ought to not waste it. Though I'm pretty sure they took on the skills from it and use it on all the other shows since. Honestly, I still have hope. The fanbase is definitely there and vocal, and the show is still young at 6 years imo. I'm still waiting them to wake up these sleeping stones in their PC and take them out for another round

Update: just finished the anime, binged it in a couple of days. I love Phos’ development and how gradually we get to know the rest of the cast. The music is beautiful. Also the world is so fascinating, can’t wait to read the manga

Viva Houseki no Kuni! We are still getting weird looking 3D anime nowadays and I think the reason is the distributors are like "this is the norm, take it or leave it", mainly cuz they are cutting corners for profits. Also, I think Orange Studio is planning to use more avanced tools to make new season (s?) cuz... I don't know how the lunarian melting city is gonna look in 3D... like... HOW?
There's a standard look in every era and it's not easy to make any shows stand out from the rest by aesthetic alone. It's even harder for 3D shows because when something's off, it's way more noticeable. Strong understanding of 3D and art direction from the ground up is certainly important and Orange proved they ertr prepared. Afaik recent Orange productions have employed more advanced techniques so I don't think they are lagging behind with the tech part. It's also matters of general interest of a lot of parties I think. More older shows are coming back recently in the industry, and a lot still wishes a second season for this so who knows what'll happen if we keep wishing!
Hmm are you simply referring to distribution side of things? I suppose a recent example would be the distribution time of Jojo Part 6? It's unfortunate if it left a mark for the community as a whole, but at the same time it is only a problem for seasonal watchers and perhaps in a marketing stand point, in that they couldn't capitalize the maximum amount of 'hype' off of its initial release. Although it is of their full interest for the market to spread this 'hype' culture, to condition consumers to look only the newest shiny thing. So I suppose they messed it up for themselves. But for those who wait for the full experience, for those who encounters the series in the future, a good show 'stands' for itself~ Sorry for the pun 😂

I'm not sure about fans in Japan, but the general fans of the series are unanimously wishing for it, passionately. (Look at the other comments!) I think it is worth getting passionate over it as long as you're still a fan, and reassures the creators there's a demand for it. 😊
