I do have a few ficus, but the only ones that do best for me are umbellata-type varieties. Even though they can tend to get mites, mostly these are set and forget besides an occasional deep water.
Ooh Ficus umbellata is so beautiful, but I’ve always been scared to buy one on account that Ficus don’t like me and they only seem to be available as XL expensive specimens where I am 🙈 But if they’re easier to care for than I think, I might have to add it back on to my wish list! 😂
Started using SB Plant Invigorator (concentrate) about 3 years ago and haven’t seen a thrip since! Went to Tong garden centre in January… seems like a soulless place. Get far better plants and quality plants from Leeds centre (no doubt in Badford too)
It’s definitely a favourite product of the people I’ve worked with in horticulture as well! I’ve also seen it work on spider mites even though it’s not usually recommended as the first solution 😁 It can be a bit bare bones at Tong’s indoor section, but the plants I’ve gotten from there have always been pest free and some decent finds over the years, I live so nearby (like five mins away) though so I like going there for pots and supplies I can’t find online. The local garden centre I used to think was the best in Leeds was Otley garden centre before it was taken over by YGC (I haven’t been in since then so can’t comment). I made the mistake of trying to rescue a sad looking plant I found at the market the other day, but when I assessed the plant properly at home I was like okay this is worse than I thought, it’s still alive though 😂 What places do you like in the centre?
I’ve found that Syngonium albo takes longer than other Syngonium to root. I have 30 different types and the albo takes a really long time. I don’t think you did anything wrong.
I know that you said on your instagram and here that your anthurium has a fungal issue but thats doesnt seem the case. Anthuriums have those spots in irregular watering, low humidity and high ph water level /high PPM. Fungal issues look quite diferent
Hi Fabio, I replied to your comment on Insta 😊 Just wanted to add that the leaf apex of the forgetii was originally transparent and wet in nature with no halo, which was my main reason for thinking fungal issue but I’m not 100% 🤷
I ended up having to prop it and start again, the Forgetii doesn’t seem to like me very much aha 🙈 But I’m happy to report that some of the other plants in the video are doing much better now I’ve got the hang of them! 😁
Rubber plants like dry soil and indirect light. They are hard to kill. When it comes to that fiddle, she needs to be dry for a while. They do not like to be over watered so in the winter, leave them alone. Ask me how I know?
Hoping mine does okay this time around then, it’s looking good so far 🤞😂 I think it’ll be a while til I attempt a fiddle leaf fig again 🙈 I’m curious, how do you know? 😜
