Played on the autoharp with vocals, "The Housewife's Lament" also known as "Life Is a Toil" is a traditional song written in the mid-1800s. Performed by the "Happy Harpers," a group of autoharp players, with (L-R) Susan Collins, Linda McGlothlin, John Seest, Janis Lewin, Michelle Fife, Cathy Platt, and Lisa Chapman. Walking and sadly sweeping in the character of the lamenting housewife is Karen Sechrist. Performed at the November 12, 2023 Society meeting.
