Yeah. He's in the last 200 m or a Marathon... then last 100 m... and he's checking the time multiple times with a competitor breathing right down his neck? That's just stupid.
@@davidjanbaz7728 Hi David. NO ONE is looking at his pace in the last 200m of a Marathon. If someone is on your shoulder, its max effort right to the line! As a former track runner, with a reasonable ability to finish fast over the last 600m or so in a Road Race, I liked to "sit" on a runner as we headed to the line, knowing I had an excellent chance of a mad sprint in the last 50 m. But if I went too soon, a strong runner might have time to catch up. The guy that won timed his final sprint to perfection. The one who was leading probably "deserved" to win but... his stupidity of wasting seconds constantly looking at his watch, cost him the race. Plus, a 2hr 10ish time is no where near any records.
What an amazing race finish but what terrible camera work. Why did the camera decide to get lazy at the most critical part of the race? The lead was not that large between the runners and anything could happen. I would fire everyone from this sports coverage team, even the announcers who did not give us play by play action during the last mile of the race. Embarrassing and disappointing.
Ok true story: A few years ago in March I was in NYC with my daughter for her to race. We decided it would be fun to rent some bikes and ride around Central Park. Well on one of the uphill sections I'm cranking away and this lady comes trotting right on by me. Double take, "Hey I think that's Des Linden!" Sure enough on the next DOWNhill section when I manage to catch up with her, it was Des alright! Beat my butt on a bike, lol.
