A councilmember told ABC13 that displaced residents who wish to remain in the neighborhood will be guaranteed space in Third Ward affordable housing properties.
They will build the same projects if it's through the housing authority but if not they will build those lihtc which charge more rent and it'll be unaffordable for them. I believe they will rebuild with HUD housing though. I just hope they screen tenants better so it doesn't happen all over again. In my hometown they tore down and rebuilt a lot of projects but they didn't screen tenants properly so now it's back to drugs baby daddy's and crime.
Regardless of race or ethnicity generational poverty crime and addictions are very hard to change. Using the term “bad culture” is used by ⬜️ Supremacists and conservatives to spread the statistically false and based in German 1930s Eugenics pseudoscience, that people who are not ⬜️ are “genetically” predisposed to poverty, which is hate speech, and the textbook definition of holdimg racial prejudice.
The problem is not tearing the Cuney homes down and rebuilding them The problem is what are you going to do about the crime thats only going to get worse if you dont due diligence with background checks etc .
@@chelseam4082 lol, u must ain't heard dats wat they call gender4cation. 😁 How can we understand something we can't spell?? I'm a country boy, I just can't say em but I know wat it means. Dats 3rd Ward in Houston TX, I'm not from Houston but I know enough to know 3rd Ward and acres home and everything between has nothing but black roots
Because the criminals are their children/families. I worked there many years ago when it wasn't anything like it is today. Not many work to get out of there. I saw generations who chose to live there. Sad but true.
You know the poor are screwed when they say money pledged by private investors. These homes on the outside look nice or at least no worse than many private condo areas. What it needs is a good clean, remodel and security. If you cause problems and have a voucher you are kicked off. You just have to police these areas and eventually the bad ones will move on.
Why are they lying about the vouchers will be giving to us soon? We're being told we have 8 long years to wait for anything to begin...if it'll begin. We're told to don't start packing yet.
Please do Acres Home and 5th ward, tired of those people messing up my bus ride to work🙏🏾, even the bus drivers miss route purposely cuz im one of few that is actually commuting to work, they get on there stankin like sherm, talking to themselves out loud, or filling the bus up just to go do nothing. Dont even pay fare, they make the area filthy and disgusting.
Its the way they made the cuney homes sound like chiraq that threw me for a loop cuz yall it ajnt that bad nowhere in houston. Now if we want to twlk about the fact that my grandma was a baby in those projects so we know they old af and in need of upgrades den u got my endorsement, but im is not finna sign off on yall tryna play the tre like its compton in the 90s.
The same reason shopkeepers have dutifully paid "tribute" to gangsters throughout history. Ordinary citizens are simply ill equipped to deal with hard core gangsters.
The elderly and disabled should be placed first with somewhere to go. The younger people with all the children and a man living with them should be on a waitlist until they find some type of work. The new apartment or condos will not be low income those living in the Caney homes won’t be able to afford them.
People that work everyday and own homes in the 3rd ward are paying for this. They raised our taxes the most in any area in Houston. Why do we have to pay for people that do not want to work and want everything free? They should just throw them down and rebuild new homes and watch how the crime gos down by 60%.
